I still really like the first game, I hate the second one and I think I'll hate this third one.
I'm starting to think that it wasn't just the zombies I liked from the first one but specifically the setting of American countryside with small towns around it. It somehow made it feel more isolating and survival that much more interesting.
Second one was too built up, too urban and had specific roads that were narrow lanes that took you down paths, it didn't feel as open as the first one did.
I dunno how to feel about this third one, probably won't like it from the trailer but I'll wait and see.

Fun fact: The trailer was made by MS marketing people without the knowledge of Undead Labs; the devs were just as surprised when the trailer dropped.

Which meant two things; SoD3 haven't started development yet at that point, and Undead Labs was actually in the process of creating a different game at that time

Oh that's kinda fucked up if true. I thought it felt a bit off tone from Undead labs what they put out for State of Decay 1 and 2. The trailer felt very 'actiony' for 3, something I don't really associate with the game series, yes it has action but it has the relationships you make with your survivors, it has the base locations, the looting, the survival.
This just confuses the fuck out of me and if it's true what you're saying then I'm sure the dev team will be just as confused too.

They're hard a work trying to find a way to make the game even more woke than the second.
