What's your surprise of the year so far? Picrel is surprisingly great, I'd say.
>>740556479Literally what you have to look like to enjoy that shit Yoshi game.t. bought it on release
>>740556840doubtful
>>740557080What's doubtful?
>>740557131that you actually bought the game, let alone played it
>>740557205I'm not about to take a picture of my case to prove I bought it you deranged retard. People can buy something and be disappointed by it.
>>740557268>I'm not about to take a picture of my case to prove I bought it you deranged retardof course you wont, because you dont have it
Hated the demo, but the full game's been my favorite 2026 release so far.
>>740557408It has a demo?Anyway, I was expecting nothing from it, the trailers make it look boring, it takes some time to get used to the change of pace but it's quite entertaining, I don't usually go for 100% on my first run but doing all the research is plenty of fun. Also surprised how much thought was put into this, someone in the dev team must be a true autist judging by the research tools, I mean, measuring azimuth? Gosh.
>>740556479uh oh snoygger meltie
>>740556382It’s very interesting and will probably be a side project game for me for months to come. I’m surprised someone else on /v/ could afford $70 to take a chance on this game though. I thought for sure I was the only one here who could actually buy stuff
Game was basically tailor made for me.
>>740556382What's the main gameplay mechanic of this game? Combining things?
>>740558305>yoshifag can't refute the retard image in any of those instanceslol
>>740559086>shitposters can never prove they even played the game theyre bitching about
>>740559128You don't need to eat shit to know it tastes like shit.
>>740559260>its shit because...IT JUST IS OK????lol
>>740559346>noooo you don't get it if you wear diapers like me you will never experience why they are so good!!!
>>740559850just proving my point
>>740559963Why are you playing a game for toddlers? is a better question.

>>740560802>>740560885>here is your gameplay bro
Yoshi and the mysterious book is absolutely underrated. The game is an at least 9.5/10 masterpiece
>>740561091and you call people who play fantastic games children while you're sitting your fatass finding toy pictures to troll people on 4chan like the loser pos you are. yoshi and the mysterious book has amazing game design and you can tell the developers truly cared and put love into this game. there's nothing else like it. this is coming from someone who just beat pragmata not too long before it. remember you're on a shitty anime imageboard and every fucking thread , image, game is for "toddlers" you dumb shit.
>>740556382It's a really stellar puzzle game.

>>740556382Reminder that the only reason why this game is getting so must shitposting is because "it is the only nintendo game released last month", in the past these "experimental" games used to came out close to a big release so people didn't mind them but now Nintendo can only released ONE first party game per month so Yoshi is getting massive amounts of scrutiny because this.
>>740561587you're literally fucking retarded. braindead. you're just a mute troll with nothing of value irl , online, nowhere. hur dur manchild shut the fuck up and kys. I guarantee you look like a faggot.
>>740561587What is this fuck ass image, it's pissing me off and I wasn't even responded too.
how hard is it to just make a yoshi platformer like story or island? enough with the experimental shit
>>740561773>you're literally fucking retarded. braindead. you're just a mute troll with nothing of value irl , online, nowhere. hur dur manchild shut the fuck up and kys. I guarantee you look like a faggot.
>>740556382Mewgenics
>>740561759>but now Nintendo can only released ONE first party game per month so Yoshi is getting massive amounts of scrutiny because this.Oh no...Nintendo is doing something no other developer or publisher can do anymore. What a terrible horrid thing. We MUST be angry over this.Faggot retard.>>740561887YMB is on par to YI in quality and platforming.Play the game.Plus Wooly World is great as well.
>>740561759literally just trolls on 4chan. tons of people elsewhere describe it as a very surprisingly good game.>>740561887yeah, as if that was working out well for them. woolly world and yoshi's island SNES are the only objectively good games in the series, yes. but mysterious book is almost like a love letter to people who adore the original yoshi's island. I love SNES yoshi's island, and this game really turned out to be one of my favorite games and I don't know i think it's better than woolly world.
>>740561887It is not, but when they make a spiritual successor it gets ignored, Woolly world is great, pretty good take on the Yoshi's Island gameplay and most people just glance over it.
>>740561091That’s not how mysterious book plays at all, so your retarded analogy doesn’t even work
Is this game actually good?Is it better than bananza? That game was better than I thought. It's very long. That being said nobody talks about it, its basically mario odyssey but donkeykong and easier
>>740561887this game is yoshi's story 2 tho
>>740563342Well I didn't like the Bananza Demo but that was Nintendo's fault, it would be like demoing BotW or TotK without any of the slate powers and just allowed you to use a stick.
>>740563342The game is actually good, though your mileage may vary depending on your taste. It fully delivers on its premise and is immensely charming throughout. The amount of creature variety and interplay between them is impressive in its own right. It's fun to make discoveries about these creatures and the ability to name them yourself really lends to the feeling of discovering a new species. While it isn't brainless, it is intended to be a relaxed experience (You can't die) so if you're not into that you might wanna skip or wait for a sale.
>>740563508eh. it definitely has some influences and stuff like choosing the different same colored yoshis as story, and maybe a few references but I feel like it's more pandering to yoshi's island SNES. yoshi's story is god awful and they dont even play remotely the same whatsoever. >>740563342yes. extremely good. I beat bananza as well and that game is fantastic. this is the only other game released on the switch 2 that has made me feel the way I did when playing through bananza. I didn't start loving it until about world 3, where i completely changed how I felt about that game and said yeah okay this is fucking amazing. world 1 and 2 are still good but I just feel like world 3 was where it started to click. and the game just never gets old. literally every single stage has something completely new, literally. it never gets old. and there are some surprises near the end, this game is pretty meaty. it took me 24+ hours to finish the game, but the only stage I managed to complete 100% was the final true boss stage. (and some after that for obvious reasons).
>>740563342Bananza is a single player game it won't get discussion forever. But there's an event tuesday so I'll try to have a thread up for it then.As for Yoshi it's very well made and a lot of the puzzles have clever solutions. It's also pretty lengthy as well, having 10 chapters + 2 bonus for unique challenges.
>>740563303Oh, my bad.
>>740556382I'm surprised by how much I loved Fantasy Life i. Easiest 100 hours spent. The only reason I stopped was more games were coming out.
>>740563508How? Yoshi's Story is clearly arcadey score attack. While YMB is explorative platformer + puzzles. They aren't really similar design wise.
>>740564320even farther
>>740564457>choose your yoshi color>book framing device for selecting levels>each level is a creature of the day
>>740565151
Mysterious Book looks like it's made more for fans of Yoshi's Story than Yoshi's Island, and by that I mean smart people who are correct.
>>740565260>I am the great and mighty poo, Im going to throw my shit at you
>>740565260
>>740565331nope.
>>740564884Here you go, champ.
>>740565463Island is legitimately not that good if you go back to it. It's a slow platformer with irritating level design.Story on the other hand has this really compelling sense of exploration and discovery.
>>740565579>posts a difficult puzzle toy???
>>740565582I go back to it all the time. it is one of the best platformers ever made. yoshi's story is ugly as shit, has terrible music, and terrible game design. I can't take your contrarian shit opinion seriously.
>>740565794ascend
>>740565625You.... find that difficult? Go see a doctor, I think you might be clinically retarded.
>>740565924have you ever actually tried solving one?
So the book is an Ark for a previous apocalypse?
>>740565260I do wush we got a volcano chapter. woulda been ludo.>>740565151Eh...has some loose inspirations sure. But gameplaywise they are very different. Both are good though.
>>740566515I mean it gets told to you pretty explicitly and not even that late. But yes, it is.
>>740567249Baby game, my ass. That was brutal.
Imagine him egging out a massive egg really slowly
>>740556382I've had a surprising amount of fun. I thought I'd breeze through it a bit then hand it over to my nephew, but I want to 100% first. Anyway, sex purple gas.
Rented it and found it boring as fuck. I played for like 4 hours and thought the gameplay loop was boring, the graphics look like ass and i thought the music was forgettable, wooly world remains peak of modern yoshi .sadly stuck on 3ds still
>>740567535what gameplay loop?
>>740567379Crayzee Dayzee is built for bullying.>>740567425>Anyway, sex purple gas.You fags are so easy to manipulate it's quite unreal.Anyhow does anyone have croakaoke 100% yet?
>>740567587>find an enemy on the book>engage with it in a level>rinse and repeat for wayy too longmeh i found it boring
>>740556382>No bro, I promise, Switch 2 has games! Look at this retard babysloppppppp
>>740567638posted it again award
>>740567379brutal? I dunno but it was one of my favorite stages. there were one or two stages that were actually "hard" but I cant even remember what they were now. I do know that I could not for the life of me figure out how to get certain flowers, for example im missing the one middle flower I think from the purple gas creatures stage. all the other flowers were obvious, I gave up. the final stage of world 12 however, fuck you. that stage is the worst stage out of any platformer I ever played. it's like the developers included ragebait after all that fun I had. >>740567535your taste is garbage. you ain't worthy. woolly world is great but after playing through this, it has surpassed it.
>>740567608The eyes are irresistible, I'm afraid. It's the key to it all.
>>740556382I've been playing this and while I have played and enjoyed all sorts of unique titles on a ton of consoles, I feel like this one is getting the obvious undue hate, but also undue praise. There are a lot of obvious QoL elements which are missing from this experience. A lot of the finds about them are not ecological but instead just trying to figure out what events it wants to see instead. Someone described this in another thread like Pokemon Snap, and I agree with that assessment, but it's like as if Pokemon Snap had way, way more than 3 buttons. >Find all of the X>Now find them all without touching something else!Which is weird because it starts off more about how creatures taste, what they themselves eat, etc. As the game progresses, it drifts further and further from that. A shame.
>>740567767just realized what that anon was talking about. I was referring to the webm, oh well
>>740559035No. You can lick, groundpound, throw eggs, and put shit on your back. You are getting elements of the level to interact in ways the game wants you to in order to fill out an encyclopedia. For example, you find a creature which allows flowers to bloom. Then you realize that feeding the creature changes his color, which then changes the blooms it makes. Etc. For the most part, the game is very straightforward, but there are a few "how the fuck was I supposed to know that?" parts, and it can sometimes turn into a bit of having to guess what the game wants of you. It's still ultimately interesting, and this was an apt series to do it in. Yoshi's Island already had interesting creatures.
>>740567840it still has all that throughout the game. but it's more than that, sometimes its finding secrets in the stage, seeing how the enemies react to things, etc. i think you're just trying to find something to complain about
>>740567771Like I said. You fags are easy to manipulate.Just throw eye lashes on a thing and you start gooning.>>740567767I'd have to replay the stage to recall, but check around outside more, in the sky.And get the blue coins in the left most pit as well.>>740567840No it doesn't.Even on the moon you are looking for what blorps eat, how they interact as a species, that beaked ones poke nuts and clouds, etc.Same for ralph the raven. eating the stars and butterflies, guiding his babies, unbothered by icy terrain, etc.the cuttlewoosh is all about how it eats basically everything and races its siblings to become the next pack leader. only shitty find here seems to be siphoning up all the flower petals mid race which just seems impossible no idea how you are meant to do that onefaggot.
>>740565582It's a game which really expects a player to go for 100s. It's probably the best example of a baby-mode game getting difficult if you go through the levels under that premise.
Would be nice if anons actually played the game. Cause getting tips on some of my missing pages would be just grand. Plus the game deserves some positive attention.Assuming the WL5rumors are true YMb bodes well for it I think.
>>740568060>>740568203It minimizes that aspect for others throughout the game, and that's fine if that's what you want. That isn't what I wanted. A great egregious example is the skateboard/surfboard level. The game flat out barely gives a shit about it as a lifeform at all and way more about yoshi being radical. It's fine if you like that aspect of the game, but I find the most interesting aspects of the title to be the interactions between creatures, not the "Wow you got under Bowser's boat" or "You did X thing again, but this time Y". Lead the butterfly to three different areas. Great. Yeah. The rest of the game is pretty damn good, but those parts ultimately feel like padding to otherwise an interesting premise.
>>740568476I likes the surfskateboard part tho, the only one I disliked was the one that you need to breed those ghost marshmallow things, and I really liked the singing alien octopussy one, very cute
>>740568476>I'm very mad that the skateboard is about skateboardingOh well.Gee what a valid argument.Truly.>Nep-Enut>ignoring it's all about combing the small ones to make them big>feeding them apples, peppers, and note fruit, or dipping them in mud>how they can water flowers/trees>no just hyper fixate one one (1) finding. which would be ecologically important as it shows mature Nep'Enuts are a threat to various boating professionsYou REALLY making a fine point here. Truly.
>>740568476skateboard stage was great. what else did you want, the skateboard thing tasted like shit and you cant swallow it. creatures go further than just being an animal type thing in the mario universe. there are literal spikes with eyes. clouds with eyes. I just dont see it because there were plenty of real animal like creatures that had more to it than the skateboard one
>>740568603>he doesn't want to make generationally incestious blobsDo you even SCIENCE bro? Get out of my fucking pages. You're banned. BANNED from learning
>>740568891I swear I was on this stage for an hour. I dont know how the spikey nose one popped up but it finally did. I just mixed and matched everything and when I found the black one I did it all over again. the UFO stage was so fucking kino.. I loved having my little space buddy on my back the whole time
>>740568891Well the gimmick is pretty lame desu, and I didn't like the design of the offsprings, except for the one that flies, that one and the original are quite cool.
>>740569139>I dont know how the spikey nose one popped up but it finally did.Bottom pit platform gives the bouncy headright platform by the vine + lab gives fluttery cloakleft by the tree + nut blocked house gives beak
I love the game, but it became one I play with my girlfriend, and now I feel like it’ll be a year before I finish it. We only gust finished chapter 4, I think. The one with the Shy Guys. The onoy thing I haven’t liked about the game it the clue that says “turn every crayzee daisy into grass”, cause it’s a blatant lie that will wast a fuck ton of your time
>>740569328>clue that says “turn every crayzee daisy into grass”,Which level? I never saw that one. But a few hints can be odd or not exactly helpful. The village is pretty great.
>>740557268>I'm not about to take a picture of my case to prove I bought itWhy even bother with a reply cope. We know you didn't buy the game
>>740569401The shy guys and the mousers are one of my favorites, love how the mice hate when you carry them, it adds a lot to their character.
>>740569401Thudd. You only have to do it with the 3 dayzees at the end, and there are a fuck ton in the level. Complete malpracticeVillage was great the Shy Guys being needy children was fun
>>740569451Game has a ton of effort in the animation. The devs clearly had a fun time making the game...which thank fuck after Crafted World. So Good Feel redeemed themselves in my eyes. Hopefully they learned a lot from YMB and keep the quality going.
>>740569607I do not remember ever doing this, but it created a portal?
>>740569527Ah..right okay I recall it now. I still need it actually.Any chance you got a webm of you completing it? Cause I could never get the angle right on my various attemptsShy Guys being bossy li'l cunts in this game is unusual, but I don't hate it, can be cute at times.
>>740569690Mouser Habitat with WeeWoo note/anotation.You Pi Piper the li'l shits into a cage to get revenge on them.
>>740569798We do not denigrate Mouser on this board
>>740569798another interaction I missed. this stage was fucking nuts.
>>740569878I do when they sink their dirty fangs into everything.Even my poor Weewoo
>>740569712No webm, but here’s the video I found after I couldn’t make “all” happen. Starts at like 32 minhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bo7kK3qIHwI
>somehow luck shitted into my very first attempt here as a jelly jet + snurfboard comboWack.>>740570171Appreciated, will try it again soon.Well just need the 'jibgling song for bells' in croakaoke, and goonie sea race I think.
>omg wow Yoshi made such a funny face when I threw an egg>haha lol I didn’t expect THAT to happen when I jumped on that cute little bug
Super charming game.Great to watch the melties it makes.
Is Mr. E indian by any chance? 5 flowers to tell me the 'tilt' get the fuck out of here with this scam.
740570365>PLEASE GUYS I NEED ATTENTION WAH WAHkek still trying. kys
>>740570357here is something I did in that stage and yes my quality is super shit. i believe there was a discovery for doing this the first time
>>740570653All science needs funding anon.Just pay your flower tax.
>>740570981Different stage. Yours is the initially Jelly jet Habitat Mine was the post game sea race. But there is a few there. The multiple air spins, the burst jet wave, etc. Jelly Jets are cool guys, like them a lot.
>>740571065yeah I realized it wasn't the same stage too late. that stage reminded me of super mario sunshine. super fun
I seriously have no clue what 'gather flower petals during the race' entails. do you need 80%? 100%?This one is pure bullshit.
It’s crazy how much content they put into the game. It’s always super impressive when a unique concept is taken really far in its first outing. The game really endears itself to me more and more each time I play it. I’ll have to recommend it to my friends more strongly
>>740570171Thudd is the worst fucking level because of how slow it is. Banjo Tooie statue transformations all over again.
>>740571892There's enough fast paced levels that a slower one like Thudd is fine. Especially since he's the finale of chapter2, and displays mountain cycles by eventually becoming a mountain himself.
>>740571656the game always has something new around the corner and plenty of 'oh shit' twists and is jam packed with content. it's a GOTY contender for sure.
Only things I'd add are a volcanic region, so we get Blargs, and the Bone Dragons from Story. gemstone cave for the bats, bandits, and tip tacks.and Bowser's Castle. which plays out as Yoshi needing to fulfil Bowser's leadership duties as he is sick or on vacation. with goomba having basic, para, hyper, mini, etckoopa being basic, para, patrol, etc. the 3 Bros type + sumo. shy guys becoming Chef Guys, making a cake for Gourmet Guy. then some baby sitting task for Jr.
>>740556382It's genuinely amazing how wrong shitposters are about this one. The game is amazing. That being said, I'm a bit worried that the high price tag + reputation of the series will harm the game's performance. I really don't want good feel to go back to making mediocre platformers again
>>740575335this game would of been way better as a straight platformer. i don't care for a exploratory game.
>>740575718Platformers are single goal games, get into the level and reach the end, having this kind of gameplay would be counter intuitive, there's a lot of back and forth that makes sense and feels natural on small levels, making them bigger would dilute the impact and a lot of content would be missed, as you are exploring the level you come accross a mix of familiar and new interactive objects, which may or may not be relevant to the main objective, it entices you to explore and backtrack, Yoshi's Island doesn't do this, actually there's a lot of times where the game roadblocks you so you can't return, no one would find this change of gameplay appealing.
>>740556479This but with bananza too desu
>>740561369>and you call people who play fantastic games children while you're sitting your fatass finding toy pictures to troll people on 4chan like the loser pos you are.>yoshi and the mysterious book has amazing game design and you can tell the developers truly cared and put love into this game. there's nothing else like it. this is coming from someone who just beat pragmata not too long before it. remember you're on a shitty anime imageboard and every fucking thread , image, game is for "toddlers" you dumb shit.
