>>740562039Not really sure what Mojang was thinking. They're completely imbalanced. They should only spawn at night and they should go non-hostile during the day or have a vastly reduced aggro radius. They make building anything involving water just complete unadulterated ass.
>>740562115They're not quite equivalent since you don't need smelting or silk touch to get any of the alt stones.Feels kinda bullshit but there is a "balance" reason for it.

>>740562335I miss flaot
>>740562760Or, you're a little baby bitch for whom updates like the recent one to change the spawn blocking light requirement from light level 7 to light level 1 were made.
>>740562416Just mod them away. Post-Notch Minecraft is unplayable garbage unmodded anyway.Modded with 100+ (good) mods it's still the best block game, even so far as 1.20.1, don't go further though.
>>740563093>Post-Notch Minecraft is unplayable garbageVillage generation is one of the most laughably busted ass things I've seen. Villages will generate on hillsides all the time and farms will be completely shattered, with waterfalls destroying crops, half the town inaccessible due to massive cliffs. It's a joke, really. I'm betting against Mojang ever giving enough of a shit to ever fix it.
>>740562654>They have like a quarter the spawn rate anywhere other than a river. This means nothing when you understand how spawning monsters works. If a sphere around you is devoid of any valid spawn locations except the river, it'll just keep spawning more and more drowned to fill up the monster table. Sure, if there are empty patches of caves around you, they might spawn there too. But unless you go out of your way to block off entire rivers or parts of an ocean, they're going to spawn. It's like why people hate phantoms. If you properly spawn-proofed your base, you could have a cozy little town and keep it aesthetic. Some walls to keep out monsters, torches and proper use of slabs or other non-spawn valid blocks, it just werked. If you wanted to play during nights it was peak comfy. Then phantoms came along and made it so you had to sleep every 3 days, or just do what everyone does and disable them completely. You can't disable drowned and spawn-proofing every body of water is tedious and looks like shit.
>>740563249World generation is so ass now. Busted villages, swiss cheese terrain, ravines everywhere.>>740563286FUCK phantoms and FUCK whatever retard who had that brilliant idea, hope xe/xir gets blown up, in Minecraft of course.
>>740562921Not that anon but you still need to spam lights all around your base to prevent mobs. I don't want an easier game, I want a non obnoxious game. Simple idea to fix this: Make anti-mob spawn a feature of the beacon but for it to work you need netherite. There, I fixed the fucking game.
>>740563286>If a sphere around you is devoid of any valid spawn locations except the riverWhich will only happen if you've been incredibly stubborn and lit up the entire surface and all the caves but not the bottom of the river. If you're just in some wilderness then daytime doesn't mean shit, there is no terrain where you're going to be that far from every cave but still trying to interact with a normal river on the surface. Caves and cliffs has made it so that there is literally always valid spawning ground to fill up SOMEWHERE unless you commit to a serious mid to late game project around your base.>It's like why people hate phantoms. If you properly spawn-proofed your base, you could have a cozy little town and keep it aesthetic.People hate phantoms because skipping night every three days to never see them is anti-gameplay and they themselves are annoying to fight and will spawn like five times a night. If you hate phantoms solely because you specifically liked being able to build a cozy little fort from which you'd never have to directly interact with hostile again and phantoms reduced your options for that, sorry. That reminds me of how I played when I was like ten, but I got over it as mobs got less prone to approach and hang out near your base.
>>740559501I think they're really neat
>>740559819>kills your ghast while flying over the oceannothing personal :^)
>>740563757Beacons should have double the radius they do now. I don't care if some people think it would trivialize the game. After you kill the wither nothing else is going to be a challenge. One beacon should easily cover an entire moderately sized base with room to spare.
>>740561417since when do you need to pay for mods in vintage story?
>>740560372wtf i bought 10
>>740560372Thanks for letting me know. I was interested in the game. Glad I nipped that in the bud.Holol faggots.Hope they burn alive like their countrymen supporting their kike zelensky
>>740559501notch promised us DF-like geology in 2009i have never seen this mentioned before
>>740563945Totally agree, besides villages are the actual game-breaking system and you can get both a villager and iron farm within the first 5 minutes of the game because they're so common you can find them at walking distance from the spawnpoint. It's laughtable.
>>740563872Conquering the wilderness is one of the core principals of any survival crafting game. In minecraft that means finishing your gear and building bases that were safe. I want to be able to know that if I take the effort to spawn proof my base, then I can build as I please.
>>740559501I like granite
>>740564135And conquering the wilderness now includes conquering the bottom of big bodies of water. They only changed this when they gave you the tools to comfortably explore underwater. If you wanna shit on the update aquatic shit on its awful fucking performance impact that we still feel to this day, not on adding an underwater zombie variant to go with the underwater sprinting and lighting and decorative blocks.
>>740564270The performance is also a big problem and the main reason why I can't run at max render distance anymore, I won't deny that. But that doesn't mean I can't also hate these fucking obnoxious pieces of shit that necessitate ruining the look of my bases. Especially annoying to have to listen to them when I made an underwater biosphere, even if they can't get through the glass. Limit their spawn to ocean ruins+monuments and zombies that drown. No more natural spawns around every body of water. They don't even bring anything useful to the game outside tridents which should be craftable anyways.
>>740559936sure i willwhy dont you post one instead?
>>740564530... but anon, having drowned outside your underwater biosphere is the exact same as having zombies or skeletons hanging out under a random tree outside your base's walls. You can fix it if you terraform. I understand that you think lighting the ocean floor looks bad but I thought lighting the entire surface looked kinda bad, once. You get over it for the sake of having actual control over your environment. Why refuse that? Why kick and scream and say that having to alter that part of the world is unfair?
>>740559501the only people who bitch about these are people with <100 hours into any single world and think any type of texturing, even stone+otherstone is "blockvomit"

The #1 noticeable difference between peakcraft (1.5.1) and modern Minecraft is the sheer amount of time and space you will dedicate in your inventory and base to a truly staggerring array of third-order nonsense you pick up as you go about ordinary playObviously if you're some idiot rapelled in by Microsoft to make Minecraft that's what you're going to do; you're too scared to touch anything important so there must be different types of like, grass seeds
>>740565080No MC originalfag likes this shit.
>>740565080Block vomit looks ugly
If anything there aren't enough blocks. I wanted Dwarf Fortress tier variety in earth, flora and fauna since day one. Instead, they take years to add singular mobs.
>>740565080They'd be fine if they outright replaced stone in different underground biomes and could be used in place of stone in recipes involving stone. Instead, they literally are just ugly blockvomit and all mineshafts look worse because of them, and I'm never changing my opinion on this.
>>740559625This is what I assumed they were gonna do when they teased it. Instead they took the lazy way out and just copy-pasted the code that spawns those dirt blobs underground and called it a day. I think even terrafirmacraft had rock strata at that time.
>>740559936>game is just struggle to survive as unga bunga until you get some copper>game loop dies as soon as this happens>mods focus entirely on pre-metal survival and disengaging from the nomadic gameplay no-one likes
Create mod makes these substantially more tolerable, cause granite actually works quite well for "industrial"-ish or steampunky buildings. And andesite is the basis for all the create recipesIn vanilla, yeah these can fuck off
Why do they have to look like dirt and gravel blocks. you can barely tell the difference between them in a dark cave.
>>740562654>Did you feel this way about caves too? Jesus Christ you're a fucking baby.lighting caves prevents a bunch of different things from spawning. these faggots are the only hostile things that spawn in any water as far as i know, excluding guardians, and they have no business spawning in lakes i built.
>>740562760the game can't differentiate between settlements you built and anywhere else. it's why faggots can spawn inside of your buildings in the first place. I guess they could implement some kind of boundary system, but they'll never do that.
>>740568750I'd be fine with something that required you to feed it some sort of resource depending on how large the boundary was, so that you couldn't just instantly make huge swathes of land perfectly safe for free, but placing torches everywhere is gay and ugly and is not the solution I want to making areas safe.
>>740559501I like the gray one but I also hate it because you need it for Create and sometimes I never find it
>>740559501I don't mind them, but at the same time they are proof that mojang just needs to bite the bullet and implement inventory changes, either just increasing the block stack number, adding more slots to your inventory/chests, making an actual backpack, or some combo of the above

I also have to play this on Hardcore because dying in Survival and going back for your own dropped Exp gives you a fuckton of levels that completely break your own progression. Skeletons are niggers.>>740578260You can drink milk to cleanse that effect but yeah more than likely you'll have killed one of them near a village if you were living there and trigger a raid immediately. It sucks.
>>740577463They also made the lighting worse. Placing torches gives everything an overly warm tone, which is extremely annoying since you need to light up your base to stop mobs from spawning. The neutral lighting of beta allowed for more creativity. Also, there was a wider range of tones. Modern Minecraft is too flatly lit.
>>740577554texturing ONLY looks good to people who dont actually PLAY the game.all i see here is a load of GAMEPLAY FEATURES being used as literal window dressing.pistons are not a construction block, and 90% of the time represent a mechanic, like a hidden door in an adventure map, or some fun automation to avoid messing with in a survival base.ore is MEANT to look out of place to make you recognize it, so seeing it where its meant to blend in is never going to work.you're fighting the actual game conditioning that minecraft has spent the last 20 years developing for a shitty build for the sake of it looking different from just using the 'correct' blocks.i can accept mixing wool, or cement blocks/powder for a COLOR build.i can accept mixing cobble and smooth for a gradient of raw to constucted.but just barfing random crap onto a wall for the sake of it is the same as those retarded avant garde buildings everyone hates in real life.
>>740565662Im running almost 200 mods and dont have any stutters. Are you autosaving every minute or is your favelapc just that bad?
>>740578459On the one hand I agree that image looks like shit.On the other hand, this is a load of nonsense. The image looks like shit because the gradients are too extreme in too small of a space. Your spergout over the concept of using pistons for their texture being wrong because they have a function is absolutely insane in a game where we've been using trapdoors as building features for 15 years.
>>740578359I never liked those Squidward-looking bastards much even when they were first added and had “TESTIFICATE” over their heads. Now that they have different jobs and there’s multiple factions of evil ones or something, I still don’t like them. One of original concepts was for them to be pigmen, a non-zombified counterpart to the ones in the Nether. I really wish they went with that instead. Like some of the animal mobs in the world just started walking on two legs and building houses and shit.
>>740578646They made the nether ones not quite pigs but instead a humanoid species related to pigs. You can trade with the ones that aren't zombies.
>>740577090top is a dream world, unreal and obviously so. you compare it to nothing but itself for there is nothing more.second down is a child's drawing brought to life, you know what each thing represents, even if it doesn't look like the thing it imitates, the sun is smiling, the sky is blue and the grass is green.third is an adult trying to recapture the dream, but not quite knowing what went wrong, they brighten some colours, and darken others for definition, not knowing that by doing so they draw attention to the faults between itself and what it represents.the final picture has forgotten its purpose in its attempts to chase some other goal, the whimsy is replaced with realism in a way it cannot accurately portray, it laughs at the idea of trees and grass being 'just green', the sun is no longer a smiling yellow circle, but it still fails to be the ball of burning plasma it truly is, by aiming for the impossible instead of perfecting imperfection the game has lost its soul and all you can see is what it failed to reach.THEY MADE IT BROWNER AND I DONT LIKE IT
>>740562335
>>740578646Sadly they added an even more aggressive faction of Zombie Pigmen equivalents also. I don't mind challenge and all, but now there is no place in the Nether were you can catch a break.
>>740578632the difference is that trap doors weren't in the game when i was playing a LOAD of it.shit dude, cement and patterned terracotta weren't in the game when i was playing a lot.BUT, trap doors get a pass because they're an entire god-damned feature in most builds, like a walkway, or a window frame, you aren't just dotting them into a wall at random.
>>740579010Was there before though? Aside from putting yourself into a hole so ghasts would leave you the fuck alone, there was always something on your ass. Now you at least have the low spawn rates of a soul sand valley.
>>740563934>not flying six gorillion blocks above the world ngmi
>>740579087Nah the Piglins are more annoying, and far more dangerous because they are usually many, one counter to a ghast shot and they immediately die
>>740579085Trap doors weren't in the game when I played it the absolute most by hour count per day either, but I've now played more hours after their addition than before.Trap doors don't need a pass because they have good textures and any good use of that texture can result in a better build. The fact that they're often used for features is on account of them being smaller than a full block on top of their unique textures.I prefer texturing to come from where stuff is happening to the surface, like it getting darker where a wall meets the ground or under a window, rather than just being random. So I consider detailing via stuff like trapdoors to go hand in hand with texturing.
i miss modded minecraft.Millénaire did villagers better than minecraftMo's creatures were better than fucking pandas and foxesbetter than wolves was better than wolves AND had things that modern mods are still only now getting around to working on.mod packs used to be 5-6 BIG mods that worked around eachother, new mod packs are 30-40 mods that constantly fight, and almost always fail to integrate without another 10 mods.i miss tekkit with the boys so much, nothing compares to spending literal days perfecting the ore cleaning setup while someone else works on power, and another friend just builds a giant castle around the growing factory, and makes farms for the literal piles of leather and rubber you needed for wires.
>>740579010I’ve built self-sufficient bases in the Nether before as a fun experiment, where in theory you could survive there indefinitely without having to go back to the overworld. You can’t have water for crops but you can still grow pumpkins and melons, along with trees for sticks and charcoal for making torches. (Lava buckets are an easy source of fuel) You can also bring eggs with you to raise chickens.
>>740579330Your failure to recognize which mods are the BIG ones doesn't mean they're not there anymore, there's just even more small mods for little tweaks and features too.
>>740578632I get where you're coming from but that's a shitty argument. Trapdoors almost always look like the feature they're supposed to emulate regardless of viewing circumstance. Pistons only look like part of a wall and not a piston when you're either sufficiently far away or not looking straight at them. They're not really the same.
>>740579719And that's not because pistons have a function, it's because the stone looking part of them has a super dark, noisy, high contrast border and the applications of that particular back paired with the wood and iron textures on the piston head are extremely narrow. Using pistons like that is like trying to mix polished deepslate into a wall currently made of stone and unpolished andesite.
>>740579330The RLCraft modpack I'm playing doesn't really have mods that clash with each other, it has quite a lot of mods, Better Nether, Better End, Aether, Twilight Forest, a mod dedicated to on-land animals, another same mod for Water, one for mythical creatures, Fire And Ice, the Graveyard, one for the Deep, one for new biomes, shit that mostly complements one another
>>740579330A while ago I made a custom modpack that was intentionally low-tech. It had Tough as Nails (the one that adds a thirst and temperature meter where you can die of hypothermia or heatstroke) and a mod where torches went out on their own and you had to relight them with flint and steel or using matches in the crafting window. All of my ore processing was done with big multiblock Immersive Engineering and Advanced Rocketry machines. I used the Ender IO inventory panel with filters for auto crafting. No AE or Refined Storage or Avaritia or any of the Brandoncore shit. There was actually a legitimate incentive to use electrically-powered lights for my base. I hooked them up to a redstone switch with a daylight sensor so they came on automatically at sunset. It was incredibly fun and interesting, I think you’re just doing it wrong.
>>740559936I don't have the patience for timewasting mechanics anymore
>>740579854>And that's not because pistons have a functionWell, yes and no. The same aspects of the texture that make it difficult to blend into a larger structure also make it obvious that the block is specifically a piston and players are conditioned to expect movement or the potential for movement in places where they see pistons because those are the only circumstances under which they see pistons (at least in part due to aforementioned lack of ability to incorporate them into other roles in a build). I assume people don't have the same reaction to trapdoors because of sheer exposure and how easily they can work in alternative roles, thereby resulting in aforementioned exposure.Basically, players see a piston, can easily recognize it as a piston, expect it to move, it doesn't move, the piston feels jarring. Players see a trapdoor, can easily view it as something other than a trapdoor, know it can move but isn't necessarily supposed to, trapdoor feels fine.
