WHERE THE FUCK IS MY ELDER SCROLLS, TODD?!? I HAVE WAITED FOR AEONS!
My dude. Did you see starfield?Did you see the oblivion AI jeet upscale? Why the fuck would you want a Bethesda game in this current year? Are you retarded? Functionality autistic?
>>740609614Mods will fix it.
>>740609424I'll release it after you play ten years of Fallout 76.
>>740609908You can't "fix" a game that has nothing of value in it. That's why Starfield has no modding community to speak of.
Good news! Elder Scrolls is already out!
>>740609424Didnt he do an interview earlier this year where he said to just pretend TES6 was never announced? Its probably not even on alpha stage yet, my dude. Dont expect to see anything before 2030.
Why do people still get their hopes up for bethslop?
>>740609424Just let it go. It's not happening.
>>740609424It isn't real. You were bamboozled by ZeniMax corporate.
>>740609424That's unfortunate, but if you're so desperate for the Elder Scrolls experience, maybe purchasing the newest edition of Skyrim could help you deal with the wait?
>>740610415But Todd... I already have all the editions...
Emil has to go. Enough is enough. I know he's your old college buddy, Todd, and you don't have to make him unemployed. You can give him a sinecure role in the IT department or something. But keep him away from creative endeavours. He has no business writing stories, and you fucking know it.
>>740609614Oblivion remaster wasn't made by jeets or Bethesda but frogs, you could say nafris perhaps but that's all>>740610089Very likely>>740610638This won't happen and you know it, who do you think he will get replaced with? The new dude from EA ? wishful thinking that we get some proper brainiacs like once
>>740609424https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7mjiff8cmQfirst 8 seconds, now fuck off retards
>>740610019ackshually it's already on its way to beat witcher's modding scene
8 fucking years since it was announced. EIGHT. and they said they had just started working on it like two years ago. 20 year game development at the minimum
>>740609424So what is actually halting this game's development progress? Dev incompetency? Scope creep? Higher ups causing issues?
>>740609424Only if you buy another copy of Skyrim
>>740612441They need to embezzle as much as possible
>>740609424Just forget it was ever announced. He did it to make the price per share go up before a big MS purchase, not to actually deliver on a game.
>>740612441>Scope creep?Extrapolating the trajectory followed from Oblivion to Starfield, TES6 will have even less features than any of them (maybe not Shartfield).
>>740612441I'm not confident they were working on it in the first place
>>740612441Todd actually hates fantasy as a genre and probably TES in particular. His big hope was that Starfield would blow everyone's tits off and then Bethesda would no longer be known as the "Skyrim guys" and they could just leave Skyrim as the conclusion to the series. Now successive shit bombs combined with pressure from fans and execs has left him with no choice, he has to make it, and it's going to be the worst one yet.
>>740609424Reminder that Skyrim suckedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHP02JEC5H0&t=8684s
>>740615730Skyrim is great.
>>740609929Just 2 more years before we get a second teaser... LET'S GOOOO BETHESDAGODS!!!
>>740609424>he believes TES VI will be like SkyrimAnon...
>>740614550I mean dude has been at Bethesda forever and worked on (arguably) their best games as a Project Lead, he's probably pretty much "done" as far as delivering a game he's passionate about, now it's about delivering a good financial success and making the people with the money happy. He kept all the pretty kitties to himself. He won.
The Elder Slops was never good
we WILL get a 20th anniversary edition of Skyrim before TES 6.
>>740610638Stick him to level/mission design, he's good with those (Life of the Party/Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood contracts bonus). It's just writing he's godawful at, clear example of Peter principle.
>740615730>he let's other people tell him what to think >unironically linking the meme 12 hour long video Couldn't be me.
>>740612441It wasn't on purpose, he said as much in the Lex Fridman interview. Fallout 4 was meant to come out in 2014, not 2015, then the main team had to help the B-Team when Fallout 76 was shit, then Starfield ran into development issues due to the procgen stuff and scope of the game not working out + COVID. It's why there were eight years between F4 and Starfield, and it's why it's been 15 years since Skyrim came out. The way Todd/the company envisioned it, Fallout 4 would've come out in 2014 and Starfield, 2019 at the latest. TES VI would've left pre-production in 2020 instead of 2024 like it did in our timeline. We're effectively four years behind schedule.
>>740617208Considering almost all these people were still around for FO4, FO76, and Starfield; you could just as easily make the case that they had grown old and out-of-touch so it's good that they're gone. Like just off the top of my head...>Bruce Nesmith is the one who killed the Nordic pantheon. He had no part in Morrowind or rewriting the lore in general (left after Daggerfall, came back when Todd asked for Oblivion)>Kurt Kuhlmann designed the boring Minute Men faction that everyone hates.>The whole concept of Fallout 76 as a rust-clone was Jeff Gardiner's idea.>Will Shen wrote the Starfield main quest that everyone hates.>Joel Burgess and Nate Purkeypile had a whole GDC on why dungeons should be designed entirely by reusing assets (that's a little weak but just know that they're both massive FO4 purists)And I don't see how any of the artist departures have hurt them. Starfield's concept art, environment art, and creature art was amazing.
>>740618359>Starfield's concept art, environment art, and creature art was amazing
>>740618359>Joel Burgess and Nate Purkeypile had a whole GDC on why dungeons should be designed entirely by reusing assetsSounds good, unironically. There's a noticeable difference between Oblivion's godawful caves and Skyrim's dungeons no matter how people meme "muh draugr", and fan mods like Skyblivion create dungeons the same way while probably being better by virtue of being more knowledgeable of the tools.
>>740612176The witcher has no tools to properly mod the game
>>740609424The wait will soon be over and then you'll play TES 6 for aeons to come.
>>740618509>faggot doesn't even remember pre-launch marketingThe concept art is what had everyone hyped. I'll concede the environments are a little hit or miss (rockier terrain looks great, foliage density is underwhelming) but the creature art is legitimately very good.>>740618730Yeah, that one was a little weak. I suppose what I was getting at is that both Burgess and Purkeypile were very much "in" on Bethesda's vision for Fallout. That's the whole reason they joined the studio. If you think Fallout 4/76 are a little campy, people like Burgess and Purkeypile are part of the reason why.
>>740610638Remember when Fallout fans demanded Bethesda replace Emil with the lead designer of Far Harbor and then they actually did and he wrote the Starfield main quest?
>>740618979>doesn't even remember pre-launch marketingI do: anyone that wasn't an idiot knew something was wrong. The square shotgun shells and unwillingness to show more than 5 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay were a symptom for a much bigger problem.>The concept art is what had everyone hypedI'll agree to disagree because even with the pic you just posted, I ain't seeing it.
>>740612441It's the fact that Bethesda is no longer Bethesda, as in, the people who worked on Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim, and parts of Fallout 4 no longer work at the company save for Todd & Emil. Starfield was the first main title game they produced with entirely new staff, and much of the game's development was legitimately outsourced overseas to India combined with confusion in communication. So, the current staff has to live up to extremely high expectations from previous titles, working on an engine they aren't fully familiar with & didn't develop, all combined with walking on eggshells from the fact both 76 & Starfield were dogshit, along with having much fewer resources to even work on TES 6 due to poor sales of the most recent projects which creates little room for error. The project is in development hell & if it does release, it will be horrendous & bankrupt Bethesda as a company. They have immense pressure & little talent.
>>740618359>Minute Men faction that everyone hatesthe minutemen are the best faction THOUGH
>>740610638
>>740609424you are so eager for the worst TES to date
>>740619150Emil was his direct boss in starfield, anon
>>740617889Agreed, he's good at quest design.Shit like design director or lead writer is a way too big a hat for him. Also, take away his twitter account. He's like one spergout away from being Randy Pitchford.
>>740619150If you dig into Starfield's development you'll soon learn what we got wasn't Will Shen's story, but Emil's. Basically he had to write around limitations imposed on him, had to rewrite the final mission like four times based on shit Emil changed on a whim in other parts of the plot, etc.His GDC talk, by the time he talks about F76/Starfield, is basically nothing but him throwing shade at the way those games' development was utterly fucked.
>>740618359>Starfield's concept art was amazingComplete bullshit. It was bland uninspired "NASApunk" garbage to begin with, and very few fans were happy with this direction considering how iconic the power armor & creatures of Fallout are. Fallout's power armor is unmistakably from Fallout if you contrast it with power armor from Warhammer or other science fiction settings. The space suits from Starfield are so generic that they could be from anywhere & you wouldn't care either way.
>>740619236>The square shotgun shells and unwillingness to show more than 5 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay were a symptom for a much bigger problem. But the gunplay is an improvement over Fallout 4 and one of the strongest aspects of the game? You tacticool milsim fans just get totally asshurt every time you see a cartridge that loads the wrong way even though no one ever makes similar complaints about the nonsensical medieval weapons endemic to the whole fantasy genre.>I'll agree to disagree because even with the pic you just posted, I ain't seeing it.You are either lying or you have bad taste and want every scifi depiction to look like a chromium decepticon just like your PC case.
>>740619630Tasteless philistine. Kill yourself.
>>740618979Anon, the pic on the right looks like Anthem.
>>740619742Holy projection from Dr. Blandular
>>740612176how many of the mods are reskins and fixes?
>>740619630>considering how iconic the power armor & creatures of Fallout are. Fallout's power armor is unmistakably from Fallout if you contrast it with power armor from Warhammer or other science fiction settingsPower armor that Bethesda didn't even come up with lmao
>>740610510Play the Skyrim 750 person mp rp server for a new experience, takes place 25 years after Skyrim
>>740620008They did come up with the t-60 series, though. Which is iconic.
>>740620119maybe on planet bethesda
>>740620119they also came up with the t-45, which looks infinitely better than the t-60
>>740619537Emil was only responsible for overall worldbuilding decisions not writing the plot.>>740619617Cope. Shen's GDC talk sounds like a guy who got Peter Principled trying to make excuses for himself. He makes excuses like "who could have known it would be so hard to implement a chair" when he's worked in the development for over a decade at that point. He should be aware that you can't arbitrarily commission new assets and you need to write around that. Instead you can repeatedly see him trying to make dramatic, emotional scenes despite lacking the animation to make it convincing. He's the one who decided to loredump the Pilgrim's journal all in one location instead of carefully layering it across several quests to build intrigue. He's also the one who implemented those shitty DiMa puzzles in Far Harbor and so it's hardly shocking that Starfield again has several mindnumbing puzzles as well.Meanwhile Emil worked on Crimson Fleet. Cheesy schlock with a boilerplate story? Yep, he's still all about KISS design. But it's still 10x better when it comes to incorporating the game's mechanics into the quest design and it's got more hype moments than the main quest itself. Somehow Emil wasn't hindered by those deadlines that kept holding up Shen.
>>740610089We know from the mouth of Todd himself that TES6 has like 10x more trees than Skyrim.
>>740610638Trvke
>>740619617please share with us the things you dug up about starfield's development
>>740618730Skyrim had a pretty decent variety in the dungeons, the problem was you couldn't walk 10 feet without tripping over another one, so doesn't matter how much variety you have, the sheer quantity of dungeons means you're going to see each variation dozens of times.
>>740618359Middle-aged devs are generally terrible; they grow complacent, fat and lose all their edge because of lowered testosterone levels.
>>740620768Emil, please...
>>740618359Seems /v/ changes opinions depending on whatever fits the current juicy narrative>developer"Uh who?">developer leaves"Bethesda is doomed, that developer was actually the genius behind the game, it's over for Todd"
>>740620768>Emil was only responsible for overall worldbuilding decisions not writing the plot. And the worldbuilding in Shitfailed is almost as bad as in Harry Potter.
>>740621634>>740619354
>>740612176iam losing my fucking mind
>>740621708>Bethesda developed Skyrim with 150 devs>Starfield had 550+>some key players from those 150, like co-lead, lead composer, lead dungeon designer or dude that created playable werewolves are no longer at the company>this will have no impact on Skyrim 2
>>740622041It's literally all pose packs btw
>>740609424It's going to be shit OP. Just look at Starfield, they will have learned nothing and are going to shit the bed even harder. He just can't lie himself out of it this time. TODD HAS TO PAY
>>740609424Sigh. Fine, Todd. I'll go buy The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimâ„¢ Anniversary Edition on the Nintendo Switchâ„¢ 2 System while I wait for you to tell us nore about the next one.
>>740609424Who the fuck are you that you think you are owed Elder Scrolls 6? What have you ever done for Todd?
>>740609424bethesda is unionized. It's over. They will never release another quality game.
>>740609424It's Joever. What do you think is gonna happen when Todd reveals his masterpiece 15 years in the making and it looks significantly worse than every single one of its competitors. It's going to release against The Witcher 4 looking marginally better than Starfield.
ES6 should have been an easy win butt Bethesda is dumb
>>740621090Sorry, didn't check the thread again 'til now. Well, Constellation was completely different as a faction, and also they were set in the Delta Pavonis system and not in New Atlantis. If you think about it, it makes no sense for a "neutral" faction to be located in the main planet of one of the major political powers in the galaxy. Like the Greybeards living in Solitude. Also, remember how the first teaser we got for Skyrim was The Eye? *That* was gonna be Constellation's hub. Not The Lodge. A *space* explorer guild was gonna live in a *space* station. When they changed that they turned the Eye into a giant, empty location with one (1) black Russian NPC. Pic related is concept art that shows The Lodge when it was in The Eye.Sam and Andreja didn't exist either, they were created when they cut the player character being voiced. Yes, even after F4's reception, Starfield started development with a voiced protagonist and got far enough as to start voicing both genders.House Va'ruun were base game and set in the Serpentis system (in the final game the system's empty, but randomly triggers hostile Va'ruun ships more than other systems). Also, the final dungeon didn't exist, the game ended at NASA: that's why that's where all the plot revelations happen, and that way the final artifact you collect would've been the first one humanity obtained so it would've been like poetry and rhyme.
>>740619597His twitter account is fine? I've only ever seen him being a bit cringe in how much he loves Fallout/Starfield. You're technically right though in that all game devs should have their social media removed. I think there's an argument to be made that if you say something on socials that generates bad press for a project (Avowed, Snow White, new Supergirl movie springs to mind) you should be sued.
>>740626529He was very cringe when trying to defend Starfield. When the majority of people are just rightfully pointing out issues with your game taking na autistic stand against that makes you look like an idiot and, even worse, gives the impression that you're not really learning any lessons from your failings. If I made something like that I'd keep my mouth shut but then again I don't use twitter or any other type of social media.
>>740619630We have the Expanse and Exodus coming out soon as scifi RPGs next year and you cant tell the difference between the two due to how low quality and bland their art style is. Whereas you can instantly tell that a Starfield screenshot is from Starfield due to the high quality art design. That's the easiest example of how great artists matter in shaping the look and feel of your games and to make it stand out.
>>740612441Spent too much time on Toddler's "dream game", starfield.
Skyrim is older than GTA5
>>740622214Key devs came and went between daggerfall and morrowind too. And between morrowind and oblivion. And between oblivion and skyrim.
>>740629472>Whereas you can instantly tell that a Starfield screenshot is from Starfield due to the high quality art designLol
>>740630195I too remember Morrowind's composer and every Oblivion lead leaving before Skyrim. Don't act disingenuously as if there's no difference between 2011 and 2026 Bethesda, especially when their games both take longer to make and are received worse by the general populace. Word of God dictates the developer environment that allowed for the impromptu creation of things like Blackreach doesn't exist anymore, drowned in bureaucracy since circa 2018.
>>740626293Different anon. I already knew all of that. I'm skeptical of Shen's account of events because>he wanted to continue working remote despite being a lead>even working within the same constraints, some of the faction quests upstaged him>he's too young to retire and his career has not been on an upward trajectory since he left
>>740622319No playable race packs?
>>740630852Did you panic when the creators left before Morrowind?
>>740631389He moved to a new studio working on a new game, with the state of the industry I dont think he's going to release anything good.
>>740631515>did you panic 30 years agoGee anon I can't fucking remember. Did you?
>>740609424if you press him he will tell you more sweet little lies instead of admitting hes working on Switch 2 Skyrim
>>740609424soon just keep playing skyrim bro
>>740631573I didn't, I wasn't even aware of the series.
>>740628456>If I made something like that I'd keep my mouth shut but then again I don't use twitter or any other type of social media.I used to work at EA. When that SimCity remake launched in 2013 and the servers were bad. If social media was big back then, I would have had the common sense to stfu. Sadly, these devs just want attention
>>740609424https://youtu.be/ezqqD9ruFUY
>>740631561He went to work at Something Wicked Games which was founded by former Fallout 76 lead, Jeff Gardiner. Pretty much immediately the studio went kaput and he got laid off. Not his fault, but sort of demonstrates bad judgement. After that he went to Unknown Worlds Entertainment to work on Subnautica 2. The very same Unknown Worlds that are in the world's shittiest publisher situation with Krafton. So a less wholesome workplace but also what's he doing over there? Placing audio logs? Kind of makes it seem like he just wants to write shit down instead of scripting out anything complicated.
>>740633147Ouch. Serves him right.
>>740634049>>740621634
>>740633147From being groomed to be the new lead writer for Bethesda games to being the guy who would write bios for sea creatures and audio logs. What a downgrade
>>740612441Am I fucking retard for believing that this may be due to significant engine reworks? I think even the most zealous bethesda fanboys have to admit that gamebryo seriously hampered the delivery of starfields overall vision. That being said I knew a bethdev for a while and all he did was glaze the engine for its ability to save objects in a cell functionally indefinitely.
>>740636576No you're right, Todd Howard did talk about improving and upgrading the creation engine a few weeks ago during starfield's new patch. They wanted to focus on loading times and it's clear that everyone disliked the amount of loading screens and they're upgrading the engine so you see less of them.
>>740626293thank youi didn't know about the Sam and Andreja, and voiced protagonist stuff
