>>740610950So this is never getting a full 1.0 release, right? To keep the patreon bucks coming.
>>740615283Not even the same genre.
What's the lore, VotV sisters? What happened?
>>740615283Abiotic Factor is good because it remembered being annoying is only funny when the actual game underneath is solid. VotV is just "walk across map for 20 minutes because the funny alien stole your shrimp" now.
>>740614762Game quality hasn't gone down, it's the same with more content. It's had weird and redditier secrets since the start.>>740615126New base is fine my only gripe is the cubicles which are a pain in the ass to remove. Base overall has more space and better layouts for the rooms.
>>740618074Idk honestly, new high quality base is obviously cool and all, but does it really necessary, yeah mb it opens more opportunities for spooks but beside that, I think it's unnecessary. Old base was small and cozy, it does feel like a remote warehouse where you do observatory alone, while the new base as it's probably more "realistic", because of this realism it is really looks like there supposed to be much more people than there are.. it's meant for a team, not a single person..besides, they way it's trashed is ridiculous, yeh muh mechanics but Dem, nothing about this base make sense and necessary, which really reflect on the whole game in general..
you get what you fucking deserve
>>740610950
>>740619312I watched a video yesterday from some like 5k youtuber starting his game. By day 2 he cleaned an absurd amount of the base and I was in awe. I do agree it's too large for 1 person, but multiplayer, as cool as it would be in a sandbox, probably doesn't fit this game
>>740618074>Game quality hasn't gone down, it's the same with more content. The problem is that content is mostly either obscure easter egg nonsense you'd never find without looking it up or pure distilled tedium.
OJOJOJOJOJOJOJOJ
>>740619927100% valid complaint. I'd say I found around 70% of the easter eggs without guides, but some of them are way to obscure and require external knowledge or a lot of trial and error.
>>740621083I don't even care that much about the easter eggs. By itself it's not that big of a deal. It is a big deal when the only other kind of content that ever gets added is additional tedium, or changes to make existing things more tedious.
>>740621882I didn't mind things like the fuses, physical upgrades, and transformer mini games, but having to triangulate coordinates was a retarded change.
>>740618074the game's quality absolutely has gone down.>the best way to make money is to completely ignore the signal part of the game due to how much tedium is involved, and instead just farm until you can set up a crypto miner.>the game's pacing has been completely ruined due to how dense the events are now, you get them so often that you're never allowed to fall back into "the groove" that makes the next event hit harder.>being able to befriend the dev's writer's pet futa catgirl aliens COMPLETELY obliterates the isolated tone of the game.>if you've last played since 6.X there's barely any new signals for you to catch, and you'll have to wade through all the signals that you've gotten before for the mere chance at finding them.and of course, due to general unoptimization and it being an UE game you need to nuke your graphics settings if you dont want to play a slideshow even on top of the line hardware.

If people genuinely didn't see that this game was going to nosedive and become shit the moment they saw the furry aliens, they're genuinely retarded. Joel gave us Voices of the Void
>>740627928I had a similar sentiment when I first heard of the game. The reason I never played is because of the "Arirals" being a weird OC furry design from the guy's other game or w/e. I figured I'd wait and see if he added more aliens to move away from it but the game just kept getting worse. Actually makes me sad, I think I would still love the game but it's always annoying when good atmosphere is ruined by a creator's inability to rein himself in, or inability to see past the yes-men fans. A similar name is Beyond the Doors, it's pretty shamelessly a knockoff of VotV, it's pretty bare right now but has potential, but the community is full of the same brand of obnoxious troons. There's another game I play too made by a tiny team that has a single obnoxious furry in the Discord with thousands of messages, it just seems like devs are doomed to create Discord communities which are, in turn, doomed to host autists who poison the game.
it never paid off on being a horror gamenothing ever scary happened and the aliens being dog women or triangle robots really suckedi wanted some creepy alien encounters or for something scary to actually try to break into base. all i got was meme shit and watching gay ass triangles from my windowi played to day 40 and like shit happened but i was never scared or even challenged, i thought we would have to fortify base or hide from aliens n shit or maybe get abducted... instead wood mannequins just follow you around.
Why can't some autist on /v/ really need to make a real signal simulator clone that actually has a hard learning curve and scary isolated atmosphere, not littered with toddler puzzles and streamer plushies. There's still so much untapped potential.
>>740627928>>740631070>whining about arirals Mega ass fag tier complaint, especially when they're invisible 100% of the time they actually appear. >>740631860??? I didn't say it was important, I said it's why I didn't bother playing. You bringing up the Arirals being invisible and totally forgetting what the post you're replying to said is two examples of you lacking object permanence, it's possible you may be retarded.
>>740631772>There's still so much untapped potential. Can you talk more about it? What exactly do you mean by harder learning curve? I totally understand the atmosphere, but that's way more subjective. Making the game harder, but still "fun" is an entirely different beast.
>>740630301No, but this game has attracted a dedicated following of retarded doomposters who never shut up.
>>740632514well then maybe the dev should stop being retarded and fix the game's objective flaws.
>>740632270>??? I didn't say it was important, I said it's why I didn't bother playing.Clearly you did think it was important if that's the reason you didn't play it. I won't say it's possible you're retarded because you clearly just are.

So much potential, wasted.
>>740632947They fixed that recently so that daily tasks even on normal difficulty give you a decent amount of moneyIt also means that the bitcoin rig is far less useful, as with the extra money coming in by the time you break even from chugging two maxed out rigs you'd have bought and upgraded everything you'd need
>>740630410>>let me just add some screamers to the game on specific dates too thats hilariousHaven't updated in years, what's this now? I remember when he added that giant deformed Ariral face that would randomly jumpscare the player and force it's way into the base specifically so he could freak out that Joel streamer who he autistically watches constantly and gets upset when he doesn't get attention from him
Installed this recentlyWhy does the game feel like fucking QWOP? Why is there a nonstandard control scheme for bog standard interactions? The game doesn't do anything remotely new to justify this shit. I'm sure all the other complaints here are valid but I can't get over how they reinvented the wheel for no reason when it comes to just picking shit up.
>>740633172thisi played this piece of shit like two years ago and after something like 30 days of no story-progressing signals or events occurring i realized this game is designed to waste your timeseems like the actual purpose of the game is to allow the developer to subsist off of patreon donations until he drops dead from AIDS or suicideits a real shame too because the concept and first in game ~week is fun. unfortunately faggot dev can't just stick to his vision and deliver on that and instead needs to incorporate whatever faggot crap his tranny discord members are into. on a side note you have to seriously be fucked in the head to continually support projects like this on patreon
>>740614762Okay but how did they start pandering to discord loons and ecelebs? I need to know so I dont do the same mistake.

>>740633747this is my biggest problem with votvforget all the random jump scares and screamers, the controls are abysmal dog shit
>>740633238and that then the time economy is still shit.have fun exploring the map while your daily tasks take up 16 hours of the day.
>>740633747>>740634709Desu I always liked the interaction controls. It's slightly unintuitive at first, but it's helpful when you get the hang of it.
>>740634709I'm talking out of my ass here but I imagine its easier dev-wise to put in 500 hotkeys than to code in context sensitive controls for every item. For example, if I recall, for the microwave you have to use a little menu to switch between activate/time, when that very same mousewheel up/down to move that little menu could have adjusted the timer and E just turns it on.Yes you can hit 1-0 or whatever for that little menu but why when your mouse wheel can just do it, and in both directions.
>>740634832Yeah the time economy is still pretty rottenIf it was any better there'd be less incentive to gun for Omega Kerfur, I just wish you could throttle the exhaustion gauge a bit better. Like sitting in that big comfy office chair in front of the signal consoles would restore someOr make sitting on a couch watching tv worth it, the camera sways so fucking much I end up just standing behind the couch holding X

I don't mind the streamer plushies and all that, they are nice tributes to the folks who helped drag the dev out of the dirt and made the game popular.
>>740637774You argue like a women. Nonsense bullshit without any value. What made the game good was the atmosphere and the spooks. Continue with those. Have some sort of end game where maybe it ratchets up or you have some mystery to solve.
>>740626806>the fanbase + devs have moved on ever since>People keep bringing it upClearly the fanbase and possibly the devs have not moved on then, have they, cuck?
>>740637446Just focus on the main fucking gameplay loop. Add more signals and interesting things to find. Stop making shit more tedious for the sake of making shit more tedious and when players are ALL doing something that doesn't align with your vision think about why that is and make appropriate, player-minded changes instead of rushing to remove it and/or make it more tedious.
I get that the dev probably wanted to let people gain points more easily but it still feels kinda odd that you pretty much just get a free 50 points each day if you just switch out some tapes and send them in. Definitely messed with the economy a little bit, not that the economy in game was necessarily balanced before in the prior version. I will say, one completely stupid thing that’s just a personal gripe is that they changed the position of the signal gathering machines different sections. I like how it felt a bit messy and not literally just start on the left and make your way through to the right. Made you turn around just a bit more, but that’s probably just because it’s what I was familiar with and found interesting when I started playing.
>>7406374461. Add signals2. Cool it with the tedium3. Make it so that leaving the base serves the horror part of the game. Right now I have to just wait with fingers crossed that the hash-code downloads to the floppy disk with out erroring again while nothing happens. There should be a real purpose, and possible danger to leaving the base for extended periods beyond chores and boredom.4. Add an event in the forest that shares the familiar sound effects, because falling pinecones and instantly breaking glowsticks lost their charm and spookiness two patches back.5. Figure out some way to work all those puzzles, platforms, and otherwise in to the main game rather than keeping them relegated behind hidden doors in the tutorial.
>>740637728Not pandering to castration cultists is an answer.
>>740637446Add actual little greys that fuck with your shit
>>740638695the hashes erroring out is such a stupid mechanic
>>740637446Add some signal variety from radio broadcasts like war of the worlds, to actual sounds from space. You know, like what signal simulator did. Also less focus on quirk chungus discord slop walk through needed levels of easter egg hunting for a lot of content.Game is fine, but I've long since gotten annoyed with a lot of things.
>>740637446The things that make it unique or interesting should be expanded upon. More signals should be added with more effort put into them as well seeing as it’s supposed to be the focal idea of the game. I wouldn’t mind a few things that can effect you in the actual satellite rooms. There’s only so much eeriness or horror you can feel after a while and while that’s a symptom of learning the games monsters and events things should always be able to shake stuff up a bit. Newer mechanics or just creepy things that make you super paranoid would be perfect in my opinion. The player should be left with a feeling of intrigue or fear more consistently. I remember playing the game at 2am fully blind and getting jumpscared by the eyeless version of the sleep deprivation demon while I was out digging near Romeo. That is in my opinion one of my most loved moments in the game, it felt like I’d discovered something crazy or like it felt wrong. I could probably describe it better, but I don’t think I’d be as invested in this game if I hadn’t had such a cool thing happen when I first played.
>>7406377281. Remove the hunger and sleep mechanics.2. Add more signals.3. Make the horror the signals themselves.4. Remove fetish aliens and everything to do with them.5. Add spooky greys (yes I know they added this, but make them spooky and less gay)6. Remove the life sim aspects.
>>740639104>5. Add spooky greys (yes I know they added this, but make them spooky and less gay)This is impossible because greys are inherently not spooky and extremely gay.

>>740638895it really is, but the least it could do is serve some function if it stays in the game.
>>740637446>Use what abiotic factor did for the crossover to add in spooks/more story stuff with the greys using the decloaker. >Make the catgril reputation mean something by having them help or hinder you while you struggle with whatever the ayys are up to.>Mix in signals that give you clues about what they are up to if you have level 3 processing. This gives you a reason to investigate shit on the radar, because if you dont your job gets a lot harder, eventually leading to a game over.>The signals slowly become less about spooks and more about threats. Though still add plenty more spooky ones.>minor combat/base defense that escalates based on catgril reputation and how many of the ayys signals you intercept and investigate. The more they get away with, the bolder they become.>defense is mostly using the decloaker, traps, and kerfus attachments. You essentially home alone any aliens that try to get in. make up some lore shit as to why they dont just wipe you off the map from orbit>other entities could also be included in the "invasions">all of this is in the later days but builds upI would 100% get death threats for these changes.
>>740639917I never really thought about the fact that the story isn’t at all contributed to by the signals besides a few events on certain days. That’s actually kinda wild to think about, I guess the day based system is good for set events but not for a story or game with pacing. Base defense idea feels kinda iffy but I like the idea a lot still since it would add a lot to the sense of fear and doing stuff with this massive base besides decorating it
>>740637446>focus less on the e-celeb shit as eventually they will move on. It also drags the entertainment value right down the more in your face the references are>probably too late at this point but the heckin wholesome furry aliens kill the vibe>try not to implement ideas then make them really tedious in future updates etc the vehicle been downgraded to hell and back at the start>the subtle horror elements are the best part so focus on those. Having the meta-paranoia drone play on literately everything kinda kills the tension because you know something is happening so your more prepared for it and get to a point where you just walk around the base until the "scary" thing happens. It becomes more of a nuisance after a while
>>740610950buy an ad
>>740630301The biggest flaw is that it's not coop.
>>740640772>I guess the day based system is good for set events but not for a story or game with pacingYou would just need some filters for the story ones. Like X days passed + level 3 signal + Y + Z" before it can be found. That makes progression a bit of a puzzle for people that like to find out the triggers for everything and for the more casual players it appears random but didnt show up too early when they might have still been struggling with just doing their job.
>>740641298I like that, a somewhat elegant and neat solution. It’s a shame it would require the developer to be interested in the main idea of signal gathering and other mechanics. It really does just feel like a shell for the story, characters, and a thousand silly secrets that won’t be found for another year

Every time I see people bitching in these threads it always feels like they either went in planning on hating it, or have just played it for so long they have nothing left to do but complain about every new update not being exactly what they want it it to be.

>>740645073>People in the thread giving nuanced feedback with actual thoughts and reasoning which is more good faith than most games on /v/ get>Threads on itch and r*ddit giving feedback>Every single time the community looks at all this feedback and collectively spits in that persons eye.Do you niggers not understand the meaning of 'alpha' or 'beta'? The entire point is to give feedback. What is with you people being hell-bent on 'protecting' the game from any and all criticism when this is the exact moment in a games lifespan where criticism is most essential? I don't expect a lot when I saw one thread where a guy said a mechanic didn't work, some Reddit jannie swooped into call him retarded, and then he reinstalled the game and it worked fine (because the game is in alpha so there might be bugs, who could have known). You can already tell when a game is bad when its community acts in complete bad faith and outright hostility to any feedback, but it's utterly unrecoverable when a game in alpha gets that treatment. You are doing the worst thing you can to someone trying to create something: leading them astray by validating all their worst ideas while never giving them actual feedback that would let them improve. Actually the devil on a creators shoulder. Acquire cancer.
>>740645073i find most people in the latter, people who've ran it like 6-8 times now and are just bored with incremental increases in story, they should just stop playing it for a while and then come back and explore all the new stuff
>>740644962Consistency in the tone and atmosphere that is trying to make you feel isolated and powerless with hints of danger. Signal Sim does this well because you are isolated (physically as well as in terms of cold, faceless support from the helicopter), powerless (you clearly have very little means to defend yourself such as the door locks which you are not sure at all if it will ever stop anything), and have hints of sentient danger (you're constantly tasked to head out alone and constantly get messages from something out there).Voice of the Void has parts of this, but has things that ruin that atmosphere and create a disruption. Things like the furrie orgy aliens having a relationship system with you and playing "pranks" on you ruin the isolation feel. The various meme references remove the sense of general danger and isolation together. The sense of powerlessness fades with the weird janky physics engine and the many tasks you get to do, etc. On top of that, many of the actually dangerous things aren't even really dangerous feeling. Like the orbs that wander the forest don't look or feel dangerous even when you know they can kill you. They feel more like room traps. Just like knowing not to step into a running waterfall, you really just walk around it and it's more of an annoyance than a threat.Using that as a model, I'd start with removing anything that goes against this as a baseline and then take a look at what is left over and work to emphasize those elements better.
>>740645496while that is valid criticism, most of the deadly threats are only known after you experience them once (or are spoiled by watching someone else play it). Do you think its fair to design the story around someone who already knows what to expect or around someone going in blind?
>>740645496No, see, you only know about that shit after you've already played the game and experienced the atmosphere. Only *eventually* does the tension of the game dissipate. Like every horror game. Once you've seen shit you've seen it. Not like Signal Simulator is any different in that respect.
>>740645326There's "nuanced critique" and then there's endlessly bitching about this game not being something it was never meant to be and never will be. Or the even lower effort "game was ruined by pandering to X" posts that show up in every thread.
>>740645698Well like I said, the game doesn't need to scare me, it just needs to be scary. As in it should devote itself to creating the atmosphere necessary to TRY to scare people with as little disruption to that as possible.Between you and I, I actually hate being actually scared. But I enjoy the atmosphere and feeling and the mystery that comes with a scary game or scary story, etc. And it sort of ruins the feeling when you're playing something that tries to show a heart of being scary, but then breaks that atmosphere by inserting streamer and e-celeb memes into it.>>740645904>No, see, you only know about that shit after you've already played the game and experienced the atmosphere.Even if I were to grant it, that still means that the atmosphere would eventually be ruined once I became aware of it, meaning at best Voices of the Void has a short shelf life. Other scary games, like Silent Hill, are forever scary even with the joke non-canon endings (because there IS some wiggle room for a joke or break from tension, especially if it's generally out of the way and not blasted everywhere on social media or in other content-creator's streams).>>740645942>There's "nuanced critique" and then there'sThere is, but at the same time every time I see someone start a sentence with this, I could bet money that it's about to be some extreme butthurt cope with such accuracy that even the bank would kick me out for unfair gambling practices.
>>740646136Anon no one is coping. This game was never meant to be a 1 to 1 copy of signal simulator. You need to let it go.
>>740646371No, but because it is inspired by it, has/had it in the sub title, and the creator calls it out specifically in mentions, then I am allowed to tie any baggage that comes with the name Signal Simulator to VotV because in the same hand the creator is trying to bank off of the love from Signal Simulator. So it's still 100% fair to make comparisons and be disappointed by the game failing to live up to the standards it's hyping itself up to be.>B-b-b-buh it's still meant to be different! Then the creator should have understood that and not tied it's branding and association with Signal Simulator so openly.
>>740646524What kind of ass backwards logic is that? >I am going to make a game like signal simulator but with all the funny autism creatures and designs that I like coming up with>WTF why isn't this a 1 to 1 copy of signal simulator???? How could I be tricked like this???????
>>740639597VOTV feels like a big inside joke for people that are "lol I'm so random". It's the impression I get from the people that stream it and the comments.
trust the plantoday i made a 'sensor', that takes in a battery that you can lug around with you and drains it correctly and persists in the world/being physics grabbed/equipped in your handthe idea is, you run around the world before you sleep/in the morning, drop these sensors down, ensure they have fresh batteries and data cartridges then at spooky night you go around and collect these back to base and record what data they captured
>>740646819A better, more accurate analogy is:>I am going to make a game like Signal Simulator and stamp the name all over it and mention it to people who like Signal Simulator.>>Uh...hey, I was looking up games like Signal Simulator, saw you said you made this like Signal Simulator, and then downloaded it and it was full of things not like Signal Simulator>DON'T YOU GET IT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE WAY DIFFERENT WHY DID YOU EXPECT IT TO BE SIGNAL SIMULATOR!??!Don't like the public perception the game had when people were expecting it to be similar? Don't associate it with the game you're trying to bank off of. That simple.
>>740626806>This bad thing is magically good now because its old
I liked it, but it really lost its charm after the first playthrough and went from being a spooky game to feeling like just a regular job simulator
>>740637446Remove all the high fidelity models, spread out the events, make the actual signal hunting less complicated to do, bake the lights so performance isn't massacred by them.
>>740647001The game was never advertised as signal simulator. There was always a degree of separation. Yes it is LIKE signal simulator in a lot of respects and acknowledging that does not mean it has to be a clone of that game, which even if you go back to the earliest discussion of VotV, was never the intent. This bizzare narrative that this game was originally meant to be a perfect continuation of signal sim that was corrupted by "THEM" is something made up by people like you who convinced yourselves you were somehow being personally wronged by this game not being exactly what you wanted.
>>740647607the game is not meaningfully different in terms of actual gameplay from like 4 years agoall theyve added since then was literally streamerbait shityou can go to the itch page right now and get d5.12 and compare it to a6.3b and even the altest version a9.0kthe only thing that has changed are the memes and the non gameplay content, in fact theyve somehow made the gameplay worse and completely botch the UI/interaction system
>>740637446I would honestly just stop updating it. I would work on a new game, a sequel. It's zoomers and manchildren that genuinely expect games should last fucking forever and ever and ever, you see all these people bitching and whining about how it's not fun anymore... because it's a live service game to them, and they WANT endless slop.If this game is going to have some legacy, it needs to just become feature complete and hit 1.0. It should simply be polished and released close to as-is, and the developer should move on with his fucking life making more games instead of getting bogged down in a live service hellscape supporting zoomertroons for the rest of his life. They'll never be happy, they'll always want more. You CAN'T make them enjoy it like they did in their first 5 hours of gameplay anymore. Now they all have 100+ hours, their dopamine receptors are fried, and they'll never enjoy it as much again. It's like trying to cater to a heroine user; they'll never be as satisfied ever again, and trying to replicate the first use is folly. The fans are chasing nostalgia for an experience that's already over, they're like addicts expecting that endless live service easter eggs are going to make them feel some of the wonder and discovery that's already long, long gone.Release it, make a new game. What they really want is novelty, the best way to achieve that is to fucking move on with your life and make something new instead of chiseling away at a dead horse for eternity like Sisyphus hauling his boulder.Voices of the Void is tapped, it's done, it's over. Move the fuck on. The manchild troon fanboys won't like it, but that's the truth.
>>740647607>The game was never advertised as signal simulator. So now we're just lying and acting like we don't have access to thousands of hours of footage of all the early releases and people who spoke with the dev confirming it was Signal Simulator 2 in spirit? Okay.
>>740647812See, now that is an actual critique. And one I agree with.
>>740648093>inspired by>in spirit 10/10 bait you actually had me going there for a while.
>>740648263Where's the lie though? The identity of the game is etched together with Signal Simulator. Are you really this desperate to push this lie through that anything short of the dev buying the rights for Signal Simulator itself is somehow an indication that it is wrong for the general public to somehow not associate these two games together? Are you really this bad faith?
>>740645137which one? I wish we could make the demonic flesh omega kerfur skin with the teeth visor.
>>740634294>that will suck him dry no matter how lazy he getsGIWTWM
>>740648367You can claim inspiration from something without having to literally be that thing. You were not tricked by nose.
I heard about this game a while ago and decided to wait for 1.0 or whatever, so tell me, if I just want a comfy signal deciphering sim with a bit of spooky shit sprinkled it, will this game deliver?
>>740648758For the most part yes. Do you like autistic job sims? Because thats a lot of this game.
>>740648940can you customize aspects of the game to make it less tedious? no hunger if it's even a thing, less retarded events etc?
>>740648743>You were not tricked by nose. No, we were. He slapped "Signal Simulator" all over the game. Reasonable people coming in off of the street, or having seen any number of reviews, or any of the streams by the streamer he was specifically targeting where he says "The dev made this like Signal Simulator", all heavily and intentionally tie the ideas and branding together with Signal Simulator. To pretend otherwise is as I said at the start of this convo: Massive butthurt cope.
Where's the volume sliders on this peace of shit?
we just had a talk at discord with the dev and my fellow transfolx and decided the game is fine as is. You chuds need to get a life
>>740649123Take your meds and get some rest. I'm cutting you off, no more (you)s from me.
>>740649243>I ran out of cope and denial, so I'm going to pretend I'm the moral victor while quitting the argument.Weak.
>>740611087>spooopyOnly the first time you see it/play it. The game becomes boring once you realise there is no actual danger and the amount of events is quite limited.
what's with the constant votv threads lately? has there been a big update? I thought nose was doing useless 0.9.0.xxx versions still>>740610950>vaguepostingeat dick
>>740627080>>740638126>>740647095You're not even talking about the same thing he is, put your knees back down.

Yoey
I only check back on VotV updates for the progressing pool plotline.

>>7406507890.9 is finally playable (or has been for some time already) so I guess people are picking up on it again
>>740652663as in, the horrid tap vs hold controls are gone, the ATV is no longer a joke, and the coordinate towers aren't a money sink anymore?
>>740611168I never seen anyone who's not a streamer play it though. Curious.
>>740610950I don't get it.
>>740654687i turn the coordinate tower decay offfucking stupid design
>>740654687>the coordinate towers aren't a money sink anymore? The decay rate is much slower and you can fix brokne fuses and craft new ones. Around day 20 (by then I had tower fail only once) I had so much spare materials I just crafted ton of them, filled towers to the max capacity and let them be. As for the ATV and the controls, I can't remember how they were in early 0.9, but the seat belt and front bumper upgrades make driving the ATV much more pleasant at least
>>740655348>you can fix brokne fuses and craft new onescrafting fuses kinda rings a bell, as part of some changelog or threadare the craft and repair recipes ever mentioned anywhere or are they just one of those "lol check the wiki" bullshit recipes? >As for the ATV and the controls, I can't remember how they were in early 0.9from what I recall, the ATV got slowed down a lot and had the durability of wet paper, such that simply driving around the usual roads accrued tons of damage and required costly repairs, nearly every day. if you wanted it to be as fast and durable as it used to be prior to 0.9, you had to shell out insane amounts of money for upgrades.and that was on top of having to deal with batteries (or the alternator upgrade) and associated costs.the controls ditched the "E" vs "E+Alt" vs "E+Shift" in favor of "tap E" vs "Hold down E for 0.5 seconds". don't get me wrong, the modifier-based control scheme was awkward to use due to key positions and needed to be reworked. let me rebind those combinations into whatever key or key combination I want, right?.instead we got some odd "console port"-inspired system with an enforced delay that gets wonkier the worse your FPS, so you have to further increase the delay if you don't want to fumble what used to be normal interactions. which would be fine, for other games, but not on VotV where you want to make good use of every second of the day, triple so with all those new money sinks.I recall having a couple other gripes. like certain actions you used to be able to o having become impossible: something to do with interacting with objects while you're holding something else and/or grabbing a third item I think (I forget the details); the combined ability of using the number row and the scroll-wheel on the interaction menu list, and the option to have the game remember what the last selected interaction was, so you could, say, set it to collect just once and spam E to collect all the trash
>>740621882my complaint about the easter eggs, is playing it blind, without knowing it was streamer bait lead me to believe a LOT of interesting things were going on, only to find out that no, its just a reference to a streamer.like finding a candle in a log, and thinking it was a fun light source, or some bell book and candle cult stuff, but its just a streamer reference, and doesn't cast any light.or finding some map floating in the water, pointing you towards a location, and you dig at that location, and its a rune, and thats really cool, so you keep an eye out for more, and theres nothing unless you do esoteric shit that isn't hinted at in game even slightly, and you get a plush from another games, and its clearly not part of the story of the games.or how you get real stalked by creatures you cant see or fathom, and they sometimes leave you presents, or beat your head in with rocks and steal your food, and you spot the triangle ships, and then theres a picnic and a tree house and furry catgirl posters and its just not spooky.and theres this cool bunker with a boarded up door, with multiple locked keypads, and you notice a card, and figure out a real fun way of getting it with a tool in the game, and open it up, and its nothing but a book to build some robot? cool.but what about all that spooky blocked door build-up?and everytime i think something cool is going on, its just a reference.i know its my own fault for assuming the game was a serious thing , but sometimes you just don't want subverted expectations when theres so much potential in the actual concept.VotV is squandered potential the videogame, but it my own fault for not looking into noses previous games sooner.
>>740637446move plushies and streamer inside jokes.more signals, both empty signals and signals that trigger events in the world.arirals are just a passing alien race that have the picnic, invisibly fuck you over 1-2 times, make a smaller treehouse, then vanish.more spooky forest events, pings on the radar are more often actual events that just moving trees or the one antibreather.more random events from emails, requests for enviromental samples so make you go out hunting shrooms or rocks or whatever (another thing to make you find things like the hole or the bunker) a return to the half life/source engine art style instead of generic 'low poly' stuff being added currentlymore alien/supernatural visitors that hang around for a few days, and either help or hinder the player (like the wisps/pyramids) to really drive home that you're not the main character, you're just there investigating the same thing that brings all these entities here.some sort automation to signals, that will freak out when it gets an event signal and lock up the whole process, so you set up 8 signals to read in series, but while out getting hashes you notice the dishes spinning at random or not moving, and you know SOMETHING is coming, so you rush back and its some garbled junk you send back to base, and they give you a level of refining and playback speed to refine it to and play back into space to get another response.literally just focus on "game" content instead of "fan of the game" contentoh and kerfer sex mode of course

>>740611168>>740611168> VotV> Not a streamer gameCome on man.Who do you think you're fooling?>Sizable periods of simple activities that demand little focus or skill, providing ample opportunities to interact with chat.>Silly physics slapstick and pratfalls.>Semi-random thrill events for the streamer to (over)react to.You're right that Lobcorp is not suited for streaming but VotV is quintessential streamer-bait.

>>740646524>>740647001Signal simulator never had a big audience. There's nothing to "bank" off of when your game has 900 reviews and most of them are from people who went from votv to ss and not the other way around.
