Liurnia but I like the summer vibes.
>>

It's Caelid, there's not even a question
>>
>>740639803
limgrave and altus plateau are the only good open world zones. everything else is miserable and empty and only makes you wish you could be anywhere else
>>
>>740639803
storm veil castle felt like the longest and most complex dungeon
>>
>>740639803
Everything is great until you take the elevator up to the snow mountain. Then the rest of the game turns to shit.
>>
>>740639974
I really feel like they gave up trying to make good levels after stormveil/the academy.
>>
Everything is good except for parts of mt. Gelmir.

Not counting the DLC, I think that the Capital is one of the greatest areas in any Fromsoft game. Felt like what Anor Londo would have been/was supposed to be if they had the technology and budget for it.

In regards to the Open World the later areas are definitely not as good as the earlier ones. The underground areas were probably my favorite (Siofra River Well) but Limgrave and Weeping Penninsula were both very good as well.
>>
>>740640045
It's so kino before that. Going deeper and deeper in rabbit hole. Finding elevator into underground. Teleporters. Trap chest. All the little dungeons hidden away. Quests leading you compleatly new and unseen regions. Good dungeons.
It is just fun adventure. Then you hit snow mountain and it's literally adventure with overtuned enemies.
>>
>>740640198
Stormveil is better in my opinon. But I love how capital has sub dungeon in it. And that has it's own subdungeon.
>>
>>740640990
Stormveil is excellent in terms of level design but the capital's aesthetic is perfect. Anor Londo is one of the most memorable parts of DaS but I always felt like it was more ambitious than what the devs were actually able to create. You see this enormous capital with tons of buildings and rooftops but are limited to a fairly small (comparatively) area to explore. Leyndell felt like a real capital and you were able to walk the streets and go into buildings and all sorts of other stuff.

Stormveil and Leyndell are both phenomenal legacy dungeons and Hogwarts is cool but a little too simple for my taste. Volcano Manor is good but a solid 7.5/10 rather than truly excellent or memorable.

Shadow Keep from the DLC is also 10/10
>>
>>740641374
>Hogwarts is cool but a little too simple for my taste
I kept finding new shit in hogwarts for the first 3 playthroughs. I wouldn't underestimate it too readily, especially if you didn't find azur staff.
>>
>>740639851
This.
Kino from start to finish. The Frenzied Fire making the servants kill everyone in the castle is what actually hooked me to ER's story.
>>
>>740639803
I, personally, loved The Lake of Rot. Great fun.
>>
>>740639803
The Weeping Peninsula and the Altus Plateau are the best IMO.
>>
>>740641374
Agree. Stormveil is better as level. Capital is better as zone. Biggest downsize of Capital is how simple it is to get from start to end. But everything outside of main path is brilliant
>>
>>740639803
First time you enter the red area was unreal. Especially seeing the army fighting the rats.
Such a great game.
>>
>>740639803
I usually love snow regions the best but after 80 hours or whatever I was just ready for the game to be done
>>
>>740642268
on my first playthrough that happened to me as early as atlus plateau
but I explored the previous areas A LOT. Probably well beyond even 80 hours at that point.
>>
>>740639803
I don't really like any whole region in this game
Stormveil or Leyndell are my favourite locations, but Limgrave is a little plain and Altus is too yellow
>>
>>740639908
This. The "stumble into hell" aspect is amazing and the best part of any RPG. Having an early world warp send you there is just a juicy cherry on top.
>>
>>740642456
I dont know what was better: Jumping into the teleporter, or hopping the stone wall. I did the latter on my 2nd playthrough and I feel like it wouldve been absolute kino had I not seen Caelid before

You just pick and choose what you want to do I don't know why /v/ is so autistic about this.
When I replay souls, do you think I bother doing shit to pick up some weapon I won't use?
>>
>>740643585
Lots of FS fans are low functioning autistics with choice paralysis.
>>
>>740643841
Seems to be a /v/ problem in general. Lots of people here actively get mad at things like chance events in games because what the dev intended to be a rare special event for some people has to be scene by everyone for completionists sake.

Most of the map is just empty walking filler that wastes your time, the capital is filled with interesting things and the whole game should just have been a series of tightly filled areas like this

The Liurnia reveal was spectacular and gorgeous, I have a huge soft spot for it. I'm trying to think of my favorite legacy dungeon but that just might be stormveil. early game in fromsoft games are always the best outside of DLCs

Liurnia of the Lakes and the underground are both ties for me. It makes you question the nature of space. If a nebula can exist underground… …what the hell are surfacers looking at? Is it just another bigger cave?

I have a special fondness for going south at the start. That's what I did and it rewarded me greatly, particularly with Bloody Slash which carried me hard for the first half at least.

Is there even a bad region in the DLC?
>Ghost graves and its Gladiator wheat fields
>The plateau right after with nice pine forest
>The incredible blue flowers field
>The motherfucking abyssal woods of spook
>The flowery hinterlands
>The Jagged peak with its amazing skybox
>Belurat and Enir-Ilim being cool as fuck ancient cities

The only one I can think of are the finger ruins, and only because there's nothing to find in them and the enemies are pure ass, otherwise the areas themselves are cool and creepy

The finger ruins were really cool looking but yeah they are basically empty. Weird.
>>
>>740648243
The finger ruins are weird and meant to be lolmysterious and you’re meant to question the nature and background of the lamprey men. They seem to be finger sorcerers of some kind, which makes me think Ymir just copied their finger sorcery, and Metyr’s microcosm sorcery, and then placed his signature stamp over it. Or he refined something they sucked at. I don’t know. They don’t seem very intelligent.
>>
>>740648498
Lampreys are likely, probably, the original builders of the Finger Ruins, but lost their intelligence and civilization over time, the same way the Beastmen are losing theirs and their civilization.

Altus plateau. The golden sky, foliage and the glowing erdtree being a stone's throw away makes the atmosphere pure quinoa.
>>
>>740648243
DLC had some very nice looking areas but some lacked in actual content. Charo’s Hidden Grave is nice but it basically has nothing worthwhile there at all besides
>a hippo to kill for frags
>ANOTHER furnace golem for tears
>the cave with which let you become a hornsent
Yeah I know there’s a Death Rite Bird but the ash it drops is a very shitty version of the one on its actual poker.
I really liked Rauh and was genuinely surprised when I went on /v/ and saw hate for it.

once you time the omen enemy attacks just right to backstab them it becomes a cakewalk. still annoying dealing with all the stone imps that ambush the pipes

ever heard of throwables?
even the most basic bitch bone throwables invalidate a lot of them.
>>

yeah dude I'm aware. they're still annoying
>>
>>740648709
And humans and gods are turning into omens. But that is big tree fuckery. Maybe everyone is turning into shit slowly
>>
>>740639803
Caelid is actually the most well designed area it's just that no one appreciates it because of how hellish and heavily scaled it is also it's completely optional.
>>
>>740648243
>Is there even a bad region in the DLC?
Abyssal woods. I don't like to say it, but it's true. Thematically and artistically KINO, but it blows its horror wad almost immediately and EXTREMELY boring to actually play outside of its single unique enemy, especially given how large it is. Jagged Peak is similarly barren, but at least it's almost completely linear and you have Torrent, so it's more of a walking sim boss intro like the ones from Furi, where as you feel compelled to actually explore the abyssal woods.

The way I would fix it would be to have the Manor guarded by a giant frenzy flame orb, like the one in Liurnia but stronger and constant, preventing entry. You'd have to hunt around the woods to find and kill frenzied inquisitors who were inadvertedly keeping the beacon lit. Each would be guarded by frenzy versions and reskins of the most fucked up enemies From has made. At least one revenant, maybe the hippos from DS3, DS2's dark dwellers or false dragons, DS1 skeleton dogs.
>>
>>740650359
Abyssal woods so mid I forgot it even existed.... only finger ruins in my mind when I think of wasted DLC areas
>>
>>740650226
You can't approach limgrave. Liurnia and atlas in wrong way. But you have multiple ways to approach caleid in wrong way. But in my opinion what hurt it most is lack of proper legacy dungeon. Redmane castle is too small even in dungeon form and is there mainly for big fight. Most of people probably skipped it in dungeon form.
>>
>>740640057
Lyndell has its merits, mostly in that its a reasonably sized open world zone in the form of a dungeon with multiple rotes depending on vertical exploration and minor platforming, and when combined with the Shunning Grounds is truly breathtaking in its scope.
However its issues are threefold
1. The eastern section of the city streets is literal dead air with nothing of value or note in it.
2. The lower city section that you need tot ake the elevator to get to is also filler but at least there are some pieces of armor to get (they should of put the entrance to the shunning ground there instead of over by the avenue.
3.The Avenue grace disincentives exploration of the zone due to its central positioning and proximity to actual progression. Like if they just put a wall blocking it off from the dragon and forced you to find a longer route it would of been good.
>>
>>740648498
They're described as being closer to fingers than humans, so my guess is they are probably mutated humans.
>>
>>740650837
>Like if they just put a wall blocking it off from the dragon and forced you to find a longer route it would of been good.
Better solution would be to just have the gate by where the erdtree avatar spawns be a one way door from the other side, forcing you to go into the area with all the knights and then go through the aquaduct section and climb back up.
>>
>>740650417
Abbysal Woods was outrageously sugar coated it's not even funny. If it was filled with Winter Lantern with the occasional frenzied hobo and Inquisitor to force you to make noise it would have been fine.

Instead you get a million warnings for a small stealth segment against an enemy with a very simple counter.

It is the most pussified From has ever been.
>>
>>740650837
You can run from gate to boss so quickly. Its little bit too stright forward. It needed some bend
>>
>>740651085
I hate how you’re required to parry them to kill then.
>>
>>740651762
it's actually really easy though. my first playthrough I just avoided them because I thought all the warnings meant it was unkillable. After hearing you could parry I walked right up to the first one I saw and parried the first attack. too easy
>>
>>740648243
>Is there even a bad region in the DLC?
Almost every area besides the starting area. You realize fast that there's basically nothing except consumables and scadooo garbage.
>>
>>740651762
I don't think you should have been able to kill them.
Ruins the horror of the zone.
>>
>>740651821
Yes it’s easy but that’s not the problem. I just want to be able to kill them normally. They should just be an incredibly annoying enemy like the ones in Bloodborne. You should be able to snipe the things.
>>
>>740652078
So they should be even more powerful than Midra? Sigh.
>>
>>740639851
Everything about Castle Morne is genuinely pure ludo-kino
>>
>>740652173
Yeah. It's such a strange zone. It probably got mangled in that last minute rewrite. But that makes it so kino. It has no clear answer. Just big mess
>>
>>740639803
Liurnia is fantastic if you can get over the middle of the map being a deadzone
>>
>>740652083
ok that's a good point, the winter lanterns in bloodborne are way more menacing
