I didn't play Shadow, but I did play the first two reboot games and they were decidedly mid. I don't expect nu-TR to play exactly like the old Playstation games, and I don't think that would be a good thing either. But some essence of the originals should be present in the sequels. What made the first Tomb Raider so effective was, in a word, atmosphere. It was a deeply solitary, isolating experience, placing you as Lara far away from civilisation. There were some cutscenes and occasionally you'd fight human bosses, but 90% of the time you were down in the murky tombs with nothing but animals and ancient aliens for company. You were an explorer in a lost and forbidden place. That was good, and what TR should be. I don't want constant chit-chat with stupid sidekicks, and I don't want Hollywood action set pieces with explosions and helicopters. Bring it back to the basics.
