The way this can be bad or good all depends on the map. If it's just a boring, senseless grid with repeating landmarks, it's gonna suck.

As a former delivery wagie the one thing that was kind of cool was visiting all the different neighborhoods whether it was suburbia or out in the sticks, even if it was technically a few miles from the store.

You know what it's missing? The suspension physics. The frame of the car isn't rattling with every turn and jump and causing sparks to fly everywhere and it's making the car look too glued to the road.

The cars you bump into have no weight. Like everything just bounces off of you whereas in the original game, if you go against traffic and bump into a car, it will kill your momentum and knock you back.


Not to mention, the actual driving looks so slow. In the original, there was a sense of speed if you were going fast. The camera jitters and The only thing going on here are the flame effects when you are going at top speed or just fast in general.

yeah that backend of the city is unfamiliar territory for me too. pretty rare to get any drop-offs there. boosts are what make the game fun honestly, on top of crazy drifts. mastering it while avoiding any crashes is the best high, although hard as shit. funny enough, my inputs on a dualshock 4 make it easier to bunnyhop, so I'm sometimes fucking up my boosts after drop offs. not always, but often enough.

It's easy to play it safe and keep picking up there same people in the same order and experience pretty much the same stuff over and over, but over time you learn which passengers will take you to different places and try to achieve the most playtime and get the highest core you can, but also you can't just waste time going for them all time depending on how much time you have left, so you have to decide if it's worth the risk. Generally when you're playing at a higher level you're doing things that are a lot more risky and may end up wasting or saving you time so effectively it starts to feel more random every time you play.

When they announced that it was cancelled, it was made clear that it was a singular game.
The idea that the Big Game was actually several came from an ad they did a while ago where they showed off modern versions of several games, including Crazy Taxi and the new Jet Set Radio, but there was never any proof that it was multiple games.

People also speculated that JSR was going to be the BIG GAME but we've been shown that recently despite big game being cancelled, so they can't be the same thing.
More than likely, the big game was some sort of GaaS looter shooter that they've cancelled because someone at SEGA saw the writing on the wall.

I don't consider this a remake, honestly. More just CT4 since it's going to be doing a lot more than simply having arcade mode with the old first town or so forth.

The camera doesn't have that feeedback of whiplash like original.
looks a tad lame and boring.

Have you not looked at the original in a while? It's pretty drab besides your cab (variably by character), the grass, sky, and some colored buildings or stone terrain, relied a lot on the actual game mechanics and pedestrians for any pop. There's pretty long stretches of mostly 90-95% gray and white on your screen depending on your route. Not to say "day piss filter" is really much better for the new one, as it washes colors together more due to modern global illumination bullshit, but it's kind of a trade off.
