This is the best dungeon crawler the past 5 years.
>>740650975I've played indie early access dungeon crawlers that are much better.
>>740651130I haven't played Galleria but it must be complete shit if W&L is better
>>740650975I hope so.I've never played NIS games before but Metallica was so cute I picked up Hundred Knight 1 & 2 and finished them. I guess these Labyrinth games would be next.
>>740650975I played it for 10 or so hours before dropping.Garbage autobattler with fake complexity and insane bloat (gorillion of skills that do nothing) with an autistic level design.
>>740651250I like it because it changes the team formula. You have teams of x made up of your individual units and they start merging to create a unique unit.
>>740650975How does it compare to traditional roguelike kino like cogmind and tales of maj'eyal?
>>740651250Did they ever fix the black screen of death in the first game?
>>740651385I think it still bricks PS3s but the PS4 remaster that I played seems fine.
>>740650975The rng hotel killed it for me, sovlless trash
>best dungeon crawler the past 5 years>its unfinished
>>740650975>ran out of money halfway through and it showsI loved the game but come on
>>740651130Pic related is garbage though
>>740650975Gameplay is fun, the story is utter shit.
>>740652049Filtered
>>740650975Refrain was better. Galleria was rushed as FUCK. It needed more time in the oven. I will never forgive NIS for this fucking blunder.
Im just here to say I love these games but despise the fact its only fans are either on twitter or 4chan.
Since dungeon crawlers are a half-dead, half-alive genre this sounds believable, but I only played Refrain, so idk about Galleria.
>>740650975easily my favorite. great story, great bosses, fun build autism (as expected of NIS).if i had to criticize something, it's that making the game around an art gallery and around art piece collection was a weird choice. they explain it later but i thought refrain's story was more palatable from start to finish.>>740652456apparently, the dev thought so as well and he ragequit for it. it was a passion project for him that got pushed out to make money.>>740651130did that ever get released? >>740651316the maps are not procedurally generated like tome's, but they are huge and there are a lot of them. you can lose puppets if they die but your game still goes on, you can build new puppets or repair them if they were partially recovered.compared to tome's meta-progression, there's less of replaying the early levels and less loot rng and more of carefully checking maps and navigating to find treasure and bosses.
>>740654702>did that ever get released? It didn't leave EA, but it launched in a feature complete state that didn't really feel like the typical early access
>>740652525>incel freak game only has fans on incel freak sitesW-woah
>>740654803>check onlinehuh it actually looks like it's a pretty big game
There is nothing more pure than the love between a smelly big titty neet that refuses to bathe and spent a month sitting in an attic masturbating and the town bike that fucked every dick in her town including the children
>>740655013>including the childrenCut from the shipped game = not canon
Labyrinth of Touhou Tri is the best we got in the last few years, the Labyrinth of Refrain/Galleria games have absolutely abyssmal combat>>740651130I was so disappointed by this and the devs abandoned it, had potential at least
>>740650975The random level was absolute ass
>>740650975I love her so much, legitimately the nicest girl in the entire world.
>>740650975It was pretty fun at first but needing to manage like fifty characters on your bloated team is just too much tedious busywork.
>>740655138Cope
>>740654902It even has a postgame. Was fun enough that I bothered to kill the secret superboss, something I don't bother with in many titles of this genre
>>740655373You only want Eureka to be a pedophile so you can self-insert more properly, don't you.
>>740655402no shit? how's the rest of the game, is the build autism fun, is the story setting fun? is it some sort of porn game, i thought it was one
>>740650975why are the devs so obsessed with making every npc a pos and adding as much misery porn as possible? They dont even do it for clever story writing
>>740651863It's a dead genre for a reason
>>740655795game is inconsistent as fuck, at first it is like etrian odyssey, with fun start, but then you have dungeon with 1000 randomly generated levels, which you need to complete. most bosses are easy as fuck, so it is kinda not very interesting, but some in other way, bullshitly hard, but there are not many.i dunno, this game is bad.
>>740655795The whole game is a clone of the first Etrian Odyssey game. More so than build autism you'll look to discover which skills are broken to abuse. The story/setting is basically identical to that game. No porn though, the main gimmick is this halfbaked system of your party members growing closer to each other and unlocking overpowered combo attacks.
>>740650975if you are an absolute retard maybethis game was so insultingly piss easy
>>740656360Cheat engine is pretty cool, isn't it?
>>740656234>but then you have dungeon with 1000 randomly generated levels??idk what game you're talking about but it aint that one
Is this game actually good for the RPG elements?
>>740656467nta but it's not exactly a game you need to think to beat. it's more about the exploration. you never need to stop and think for a few minutes, and absolutely forget about needing to take a break and think for half an hour.>>740657128the rpg part of it is pretty fun, yeah.don't expect the kind of build autism you'd get from a NIS game (the one in OP)
>>740656360it isn't like insultingly piss easy, but I didn't really have trouble until the very last boss and at that point I was too burned out since all the flaws started coming to mind, I lost interest in grinding the macguffin orb of "oh fuck off" and decided finishing the story wasn't worth it for me personally. It simply doesn't compare to Galleria and I made the mistake of playing them back-to-back.
>>740650975It's not even better than Refrain. Galleria is padded with the story-less trash dungeons while Refrain at least had mini sets going on
>>740657370I meant Refrain not Galleria FUCK
>>740657409refrain had the same gimmick where you needed to find a macguffin to beat the final boss. i think you probably just got bored of this kind of game. it's actually remarkable that the novelty only wore off then
>>740657642Refrain had a lot more going for it by comparison to pad against the stray bullshit desu, and it was significantly more compelling to push through by the point in the story also MIRROR FORCE FUCK YOU BITCH
>>740658040what more did it have going for it?actually, i played refrain first, but i felt exhausted at the final boss and didn't want to go look for the macguffin. i just youtube'd the ending scene. no such problems with galleria, despite it being a much longer game. the first time skip was pure kino.that said, galleria felt rushed later on, especially the cathedral procgen felt pretty hamfisted. i also think the overall theme was better in refrain, although the ending was beyond stupid (why did that retard turn around???). but with galleria... making a game about collecting art gallery pieces feels kinda gay no matter how you rationalize it with lore.
>>740650975I'd say this and Refrain is the best vn series in the past 10 years, from gameplay standpoint they're shit though.
I really want to like this game but I couldnt stand the fucking hotel. Why did they put procedurally generated shit in this game? I heard theres even another location after the hotel that is also procedurally generated. I dont know if I could stomach that even if I tried to go back to finish it.
>>740660082Story felt a lot more refined to me. Exploration and resolving missions(?) felt like a lot less frustrating, Galleria dipped into monotony a bit too much on top of some enhancements feeling like arbitrary one-or-two-time roadblocks, I assume one of many consequences of whatever fuckery plagued development.Glancing at wikipedia:>released on November 26, 2020 [JP]... Switch version was released on November 11, 2021. In North America... released on February 14, 2023in part a 2020 casualty, of course, fucking hellEN VA felt enjoyable to use in Refrain while Galleria's felt turbofucked by budget and management. Nachi had a shitty mic for a good bit for instance. IIRC direction for some of the Puppets wasn't super hot either but maybe they didn't have enough budget/time to really iron those out so I'd give them slack.I think Refrain's ending was fine, fucked as it was.All that aside, I do still want to like it at the end of the day and I probably will replay it eventually, it's great on Deck. I'd leap on a "director's cut" assuming he wasn't a major source of fuckups in its development, but I doubt it'll ever happen.
When will we get another drpg?
>>740664219Etrian Odyssey 6 this Direct, trust
>>740650975said no one who's intelligent
>>740664427Not buying a Switch 2 if it takes them 10+ years to release one title.
>>740661995>storyyeah, having the puppets was as part of a puppet caravan was so much more cohesive in the first game, it was really artfully done. in galleria it definitely felt like they were trying to rationalize a mechanic that story-wise fit into a different game.as for the story in refrain... i don't know if i'd put it above galleria. i think the characters in refrain are more interesting, especially the way they are woven into the story. but the way the final crisis is woven into galleria with the time skips, the multiverses and the characters is better written. but it feels in galleria like some of that is missing, especially in the second half. i liked the cannon puppet in galleria, her english voice lines were great.i could give or take the yuri shit in refrain. i don't know if you're someone who's into that but it doesn't do anything to me, i didn't really feel any rage either when the girl she crushed on got knocked up by her loving husband.
>Izumi is still tweeting about fucking nothing to no oneHe's never making another game, is he?
So is galleria worth a purchase?
>>740665182If you liked Refrain, it's mostly more of the same. A lot more.
>>740665427I haven't played a drpg in decades.
>>740665659Play Refrain first and if you like it get Galleria. If you just want to play a DRPG for the gameplay then go for something like Etrian Odyssey instead since the Labyrinth games have really simple gameplay and they're mostly about the story.
>>740664979Just relationship shenanigans far as I'm concerned, I'm indifferent to yuriI think in a world where that one guy didn't do a rape it might've panned out into a sisterly bond, the thing with the husband was just sad, I don't understand how a player would get rage over it but maybe I'm retarded.>>740665182I'd tell a friend "sure" if it was on sale assuming he already played Refrain. If he hadn't tried Refrain I'd strongly suggest it instead.
EO 5 isn't on steam.
Animeslop ruined gaming
>>740650975Never played it but this seems like "cute girls doing cute things" slop that only like trannies like it to self insert
>>740666738Trannies like pokemon
>>740666738your self insert is the green blob in this game
>>740666738Trannies breathe air you should stop doing that too wouldnt want to be associated with them freaks
>>740666841if you also breathe air, you're no different from a tranny #facts
>>740666738You may as well just leave 4chan since apparently every poster and subject here is trans, you wouldn't wanna be associated with them. So tired of seeing new replies to a thread and its just underage retards spamming this retardation every fucking time.
the anon bellow me is trans
the anon aboove me is lying
>>740664979forgot to say, I liked some of the VA too, just wish there were more VA and time to work with em. I think the puppets had like what, 5 people between them? Maybe 6? That guy with a lisp got around at least.
>>740667332if you hadn't said that, i would have thought they were all different voice actors. you sure are lucky to be able to discern so many problems with the voicing.
