I'd at least like a mostly faithful formula with maybe a few of the good nu-zelda features that won't detract from it. Or perhaps an attempt at a fusion of the new and old. Maybe semi non-linear with a few item gating bottlenecks rather than being able to do anything in any order, which would be the worst possible way to do it.

The game only has a literal handful (like, genuinely like five) bottle-necks preventing almost free ordering. The biggest problem with the way the original game handled non-linearity I find is how they had the opportunity to throw you into the future world and leave you to explore and find things yourself, which you can attempt to do, but instead they immediately make everything meaningful dependent on you going along with what Navi tells you and having to get the hookshot first thing to not be blocked anywhere else. This is a horrible 'lesson' that gave people the impression that the progression was strict and that you had to follow along with what you were told to do.

I don't know how credible the sources for OoT and Super Metroid remake really are, but I just know that it makes me angry that Nintendo would even dare to touch these pretty much perfect games. For me it's a huge sacrilege and yes.... I know that's all irrational and the originals will always coexist. But man, sometimes I allow myself to embrace this sort of irrationality.I just see a value in a collective popculture and knowing that these both games could get replaced by some remakes in the mind's of a future generation, when they think of Oot and Super Metroid just hurts.

>>740652290I would love for them to bring in some BOTW style non-linearity, but you still have the option to play it linearly if you want. You still get the items from their dungeons, but how you use them is a lot more open and allows for sequence breaking. The dungeons themselves won't really be that non-linear however.

Eh, a decade ago I would have been hyped as fuck for a OoT remake, but at the end of the day, I basically got that with Twilight Princess already in 2007, as it just felt like more of the same. Especially after WW, which was a breath of fresh air Turns out I don't want more of the same.Felt the same with TotK, for obvious reasons, to boot.I want a new game.
