Is it going to be an actual 1.0 or a quick pump and dump just to be done with it like 7 Days to Die?
>>
IMO it already has enough going on to actually be a 1.0 already so I doubt it's gonna feel like 7 Days.
The main thing for me is they won't make the game any less ridiculously grindy without a server of people going about doing chores. Haven't played in over a year by now as that always felt like such a ballache.
>>
I got enough time out of the OG release that I wasn't really to fussed by the additions. But fuck me did they make the game a fucking slog to get through Mistlands, and Ashlands until they patched it to reduce the insane mod spawns.
>>
it wasn't 1.0?
>>
Is there a better example of an Indie dev releasing an incredibly popular EA game then utterly fumbling the next 6 years of development?
>>
From what I hear everything after the initial release is just tedious as shit for no reason. I could already barely stand the constant traversing just to move supplies, so I would do the two world trick to transfer ore. I'll only play this again if there is a good QoL mod
>>
>>740653651
7 days is surely up there, like OP said.
That rarely felt like they even improved or added features it felt like they were just constantly changing the game's mechanics in a "treading water" pattern.
>>
>>740653738
Ore transfer through portals is a setting now and they even added bigger gates if you want to do it with the default ones
But there's a ton of other annoying shit that you'd need to mod for, like that ridiculously small inventory that basically gets smaller with every new biome
>>
>>740653651
I bought dayz in early access if that counts
>>
>>740653651
Darkest Dungeon 2?
Basically it was EA, received very mixed responses, but then didn't really address any of those mixed responses and it's still on Steam, with middling feedback.
>>
>>740653863
I'll give you that

>>740653767
Never played it but my friends really enjoyed it
>>
>>740653651
Incredibly popular is a stretch but ashes of creation is an honorable mention
>>
so do people know exactly what the 1.0 adds and changes? This could be a huge overhaul and they could've really put a lot of content in. Is there any official update notes on the exact additions?
>>
>>740653908
>Never played it but my friends really enjoyed it
It was still a good game but really all the enjoyment is the same from EA. The 1.0 and dev cycle throughout didn't make the game that much better or notably improved, but it was still fun cos the core EA release was already fun.
>>
>>740654150
Very similar to Valhiem then
>>
>>740653651
BattleBit was the most popular thing in the world for about a week before being completely forgotten.
>>
>>740653268
It's probably going to end up roughly the same size as the ashlands or mistlands update judging from what we can see in the trailer.

Lethal Company
>>
>7days2die
This garbage is literally unplayable without the legacy mod they fucked it up so bad I don't even know how console tards don't use the shit outta them for fucking the game sideways and force updating it.
Also valhime sucks without mods because if you don't play EXACTLY how the dev wants they have a melty, very similar to 7d2d except the base game is is totally fucked up
>>
>>740653268
This is why you don't give indie tards millions of dollars for an early access game
>>
>>740653268
They want to be done with it. I don't think we will see an 1.1 or 1.2 like with other EA games
>>
>>740653268

It's releasing on PS, Xbox, nintendo, and PC with cross play between all of the. Guess that's why it took so long.
>>
>>740653651

they took forever but all you haters want to say they "stumbled" or it got worse but that's objectively false. Each patch has been quality. It's just a hard game that punishes stupid people who try to rush through it.
>>
>>740654150
>and dev cycle throughout didn't make the game that much better or notably improved

completely fucking false. you are full of shit giant nigger faggot
>>
>>740656556
>Guess that's why it took so long.
Nintendo certification for patches in live service games sucks. Sony does as well but Nintendo is horrendously long especially when you need to back and forth. CEO wants to make more money by going multiplat but it brings down dev time of the whole thing when you want to do simultaneous updates. It's why you typically see the port to Playstation and Switch when major development is nearing end/slowing down.

Mistlands is great, probably my favorite biome. The exploration leans more into senses (auditory navigation) so you don't even need a wisp or wisplights. I have gotten a lot of hours out of sequencing breaking into other biomes early. You can do it all and the only exception is Moder as a hard kill which gates black metal smelting.

Yeah it's just people who suck at the game. The Steam forums for Valheim are filled with this kind of low-IQ complaining about a game that cost $20 and has been on sale numerous times.
>>
The devs are hellbent on making this game obnoxious. I understand a lot of the design decisions but there's stuff in this game that exists solely to piss you off. Armor taking up inventory space for example. It's not even logical.
>>
>>740658003
Can't you just mod it out though ? Or sandbox settings like Abiotic
>>
>>740657931
I thought Mistlands was great too. I kinda wish we had more ways to deal with the mist after having killed the queen, like upgrading the wisp to cover a bigger area, but it's fine the way it is. Ashlands was okay-ish for the most part, though I wish the mini-boss was something more than a damage sponge that can oneshoot you.
In any case, I had my money's worth after 2k hours, can't wait for 1.0.
>>
>>740653651
The OG EA scam, Starbound, is still undefeated.
>>
>>740660075
What a weird way to spell star citizen
>>
>>740660075
Star Citizen & Project Zomboid are worse.
>>
>>740653268
my and my friends have tried going full hyperfixation on this 3 times now. every single time we got to the mountain everyone was sick of the grind and gameplay loop. I imagine it's generally what people experienced so it's crazy to me to see the devs keep adding shit on top rather than making more content for the first 3 biomes
>>
>>740653268
this is like one of the worst games i've ever played
>start playing with 3 friends
>meadows and black forest are fun enough
>swamp time
>have to waste time carting ores back and forth because portals don't work because UUUUH FUCK YOU WE GOTTA PAD GAMETIME
>get to swamp, get mauled by literally fucking everything, leeches in the water, wraiths in the night, endless draugr at all times. poison and fatigue drain at all times
>two friends quit at this stage
>progress to plains
>someone gets oneshot by a deathsquito
>runs back to his corpse
>gets oneshot again, ragequits
>keep progressing through the game even more slowly since we have less hands to work at base
>get to mistlands
>can't see shit
>giant fucking bug out of nowhere kills him
>find out we need to spam magic torches everywhere to be able to see anything
>final friend decides he's had enough and quits
