Are leverless pads a meme? Do they offer any actual advantage over a keyboard?
it doesnt matter. this is an artificial talking point generated by a dying genre. in reality, a dedicated player would try each control style for about 30 hours and make their own decision. if they are committed to the game or play it professionally as an e-sport, it matters little anyway since its mostly phyiscal skillif this answer is dissatisfactory, look up the top 5 players in each popular fighting game, and look at what they use. there's your answer.
Just use a stick or pad. Nobody has won even a ft5 at chuck-e-cheese with one of these faggy things or a keyboard
>>740660510>artificial talking pointWhat does that even mean? Aren't all talking points artificial?
>frognigger is retardedShocking!
>>740660615Why didn't you answer the question?
They are good for some inputs and worse for others, primarily worse for circle inputs and better for simpler oscillating inputs like you'd find in tekkenExpensive leverless have much lower accentuation than keyboards making them much objectively better, but the cheap shit you'd get off aliexpress is going to be identical to a keyboard in terms of button feel
Just use a pad, people won evo with a pad.
they are more comfortableit's easier to hit button combinations or precise sequencesbut for most games that doesn't really matter since you can bind the button combos you need to other keyshowever keep in mind the default layout is shitty and is designed such that your hands are facing straight forward in parallel, bending your wrists unnecessarily
>>740660615frog website. cry about it
>>740661227>you can bind the button combos you need to other keysIsn't that literally cheating? That's like saying your mouse doesn't matter in a FPS since you can just use aimbot
>>740661336no I mean in-game
leverless is for scrubs, just say you want a controller that does all the inputs for you bitch.>bu-but Daigo!took a fat paycheck from hitbox
I've owned the snackbox and the razer kitsuneThe main advantage for me is that it's far more comfortable than stick. Your left hand lies flat along with your right and won't give you early carpel tunnel. Depending on the model, it can also be quieter than stick. My kitsune is basically near silent. Charge motions are braindead on leverless since you hold one button instead of physically moving a level, so charge is much easier and with SOCD cleanup no longer cheating. DP motions are also simple and many shortcuts existReally there's no disadvantage other than it feels "soulless" compared to stick but it's so comfortable to use I don't give a shit
>>740660412stick is the most fun and having fun is the purpose of videogames
I've switched from stick to leverless due to wrist pains. Tried just playing on keyboard beforehand, which worked out fine, except for the switches (MX Blue) being a tad bit clunky for the job. The leverless is a bit easier carrying around and just putting on your lap.I do miss playing on stick though, it was a lot of fun.
I don't know if I should get a Haute42 G16 or S16
>>740661101and there’s no shame in using a pad.
Its like a drum set for your fingers. Should just call it arcade buttonbox rather than leverless. The stick is not analog, theres just four buttons in there, so you can just pull it out and finger the insides for faster inputs.
>>740660412+ easier to learn, it's just a keyboard with bigger buttons+ easier on the hands/fingers compared to arcade stick- there's a clear ceiling between leverless users and experienced stick users at the pro level (you'll never get there so it doesn't matter)
Use a leverless or a normal fight stick, it doesn't matter if it's the same as pad, they make fighting games more fun and feel more special. 'just use pad" fags are soulless husks that only play to lab combos and be meta slaves.
>>740660412Leverless come with a firmware that make them compatible with consoles whereas keyboard would need a configurable converter (which may add input lag). The layouts are also easier on the wrists compared to a classic keyboard. Since the buttons are bigger you can press harder than usual without risking a miss input. It's very convenient if you ever go to offline events.
the problem with arcade sticks is it becomes a rabbit holefirst you buy a cheapo 8bitdo/mayflashassuming you don't tire of it you'll eventually spend for a more premium stick/enclosure/buttons, even diving into k-lever faggotrywith leverless it doesn't matter, everyone are using the same chinkshit
>>740662134>meta slavesleverless is literally meta, they were banned just a few years ago but apparently if you throw enough money at organizers they let anything slide
>>740662264i don't give a fuck, they are fun to use.
>>740660412They can be extremely precise, but it is always up to the player. I have used stick and pad and prefer pad. When these came out I never bothered because I dont use keyboard.
>>740662328they’re fun because you barely have to work numb nuts. Therefore anything you do isn’t impressive, you’ll always be a scrub
>>740662595i literally do not care, it's a video game you only play for fun, i am not some poverty monkey that sees video games as an escape for poorness.
>>740661527There is nothing fun in missing inputs.
>>740662639there is no fun in missing inputsthere is nothing fun about missing inputsESL nigger
>>740662712... uhh yeah that's what I said?
>>740662639the old fun in fighting games was just learning the game, there was a lot of gratification when you finally executed a combo you spent months learning. Now everybody wants instant gratification and shortcuts.
