Spyro is about to be the most watched trailer from this year's State of Play, Summer Games Fest, and Xbox Showcase
>>
So laufey is the actual leader
>>
>>740662853
It's unusual that an old platformer from the PS1 era is getting comparable views to it.
>>
>>740662581
Ocarina of Time remake will get double the views.
>>
and it will go on to sell 500k lifetime
>>
>>740662914
I don't know if you know this, but people do in fact like video games.
>>
>>740662853
Laufey got 6.9M in a week, Spyro got 90% there in a day and will surpass it in a couple of hours
>>
>>740662941
>the remake of the supposed best game of all time that constantly got sequels, remakes, media attention and is now getting a whole Direct dedicated to it
>will get double the views of a purple dragon platformer that was dead for 20 years
>>
The spyro views seem viewbotted or something.
>Spyro 6.2M
>28k likes 151 dislikes
>God of snoy 6.6M
>412k likes 216k dislikes

I think the subtitle SUCKS.
Everytime I try to remember it, I keep thinking it's A Realm Reborn.
>>
>>740662972
Crash 4 by these devs sold 5M copies, sadly the final numbers will be decided by the game's quality but the point is that people are more hyped for the idea of Spyro returning than the entire current AAA lineup
>>
>>740662978
Could've fooled me knowing this place.
>>
>>740662581
Huh
>>
The majority of people into Spyro aren't because of the original PS1 games or even the remake, its because they watched Skylanders as kids
>>
>>740662941
>everyone is suddenly obsessed with the oot demake
What happened to OoTsnoys? If I shit on TOTKtrannies, what will I get called now instead?
>>
>>740663114
It will be funny if Spyro outsells the new Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable games.
>>
>>740663114
5 million copies in a vacuum sounds impressive, but I often hear people say it did poorly. Those kinds of numbers used to be success levels to get sequels and shit. Dead Space 1 (the good one) eventually sold 1m copies and that was enough to justify an entire multi-media push by EA back in the day.

Spyro's being played as an ad to try and astroturf that scrimblos are still relevant in 2026
>>
>>740663267
>I often hear people say it did poorly
That's on Activision expecting everything to do Call of Duty numbers and the fact the remake trilogy sold 20M copies
>>
>>740663267
5 million copies gets repeated often but ignoring context
5 million copies are absolutely huge numbers if it sells that on release, in a month or two
crash 4 sold 400k copies on the first month and immediately got a price cut
it took multiple ports (pc, switch, and next gen consoles) and 4 years of going on sale to reach 5million copies
just saying "it sold 5 million !!1!" as if it was an absolute massive success is being deliberately deceitful

Oh no, I think the kids are hungry for some Spyro.
>>
>>740663317
There aren't a lot of collect-a-thon 3D platformers on the current market that I'm aware of. Spyro could be reasonably assumed to do well thanks to that lack of competition.
>>
>>740663435
This happens for basically every game
>>
>>740662581
I'm honestly surprised that Spyro still has this many fans. I don't think even Crash gets this much viewership.
>>
>>740662853
Foids lost
>>
>>740663792
Spyro games are shite but the character works extremely well as mascot.
It's not like trash where both the game sucks and the guy is both ugly+cringe.
>>
>>740663317
or maybe god of war gets a lot of comments because people are getting ragebaited and arguing in the comments over the womynx protagonist
>>
>>740663726
Far from it. When a game is immediately succesful the company takes notice and celebrates the milestone during the release window. Like Capcom clapping and making social media posts when Pragmata hit one million units in less than two days.
Of course when discussing the lifetime of a game the aggregated sales figures are what's brought up, but always taking context into consideration.
Crash 4 saw NO official acknowledgement from activision until they hit 5 million, while they celebrated Nsane Trilogy and CTR sales immediately.
>>
>>740662581
Never played his games, but I gooned pretty hard to female model of Spyro.
>>
Was Spyro every good? I 100% the first game recently and it was meh.
>>
>>740664292
Except no one ever says "this game from 2007 sold 3M copies in the first month and then 2M more copies later on", they say "this game from 2007 sold 5M copies" unless it was a record like GTA
>>
How do we ban feminism from video games?
>>
>>740664791
That's why context is important when understanding the numbers instead of just saying HUH IT SOLD 5M WASN'T IT A SUCCESS
No it wasn't
>>
>>740664715
You either don't actually like video games or played the watered-down remake.
Spyro controlling like a blend of platformer and racer makes it still one of the most interesting franchises of it's time.

The flight levels give me cancer and AIDS though
>>
>>740664715
No
>>
>>740664904
Limit the total number of women on the workforce to 10% max. Just enough to add some insight to the female mindset (pure retarded chaos) but not enough to have an overbearing power in the company at large.
>>
>>740664958
Like I said, every game gets ports and sales, not many reach 5M copies
>>
>>740665038
I emulated the PS1 version. I like video games even the scrimblos like Banjo and Crash. Spyro was just too flat for me. Not much variation or interesting platforming. The part where you have to use the speed up ramps was a highlight.
>The flight levels give me cancer and AIDS though
Ironically I liked that part more than the platforming.
>>
>>740665146
What does that have to do with anything?
>5 million copies in a vacuum sounds impressive, but I often hear people say it did poorly
I explained why people (rightfully) shake off the misconception that the game did well or why the numbers don't really mean anything for the franchise.
This type of situation isn't impressive with this game, isn't impressive when other games do it, and certainly isn't impressive when it doesn't happen.
The only kind of metric "logntime sales of a game of an ongoing franchise" measure is the momentum for the next entry. And there is no next entry.
The "next entry in the Crash series with momentum built for its release" was 4, riding the wave from NST and CTRNF and it flopped. Even worse, it flopped during covid, the timeframe where consumism was massively inflated and entertainment profit skyrocketed. Selling millions of copies at 5 bucks on sale isn't a feat.
>>
>>740666210
And yet people constantly bring up e.g. N64 game sales as being higher than individual PS1 game sales, without noting the N64 games were constantly being bundled with the console
>>

>>740666751
"N64 outnumbering PS1 games argument" has more to do with the fact that the ratio of consumers buying the game / total consumers base tends to be much higher becuase n64 flopped as a system compared to ps1.
So when there's 150M ps1 and a game sells 3M and there's 20M n64 yet the game sells 4M it's more impressive in a way.
Not that I particularly care about number or gay console wars mind you. I was just adding context to the whole discussion. I don't have a side in this really. Hope you understand.
>>
>>740662941
>diddyblud thinks his franchise going the starfox 64 route will actually be a view banger
L.O.L.!
>>
>>740663792
It doesn't, see: >>740663074
>>
>>740662914
I think people have a soft spot for the mascot platformers of the 90's. Banjo, Crash, Spyro, Mario, even Sanic, people love these characters. All of them except for Mario have been done real dirty and its a travesty because look at how beloved the characters all are despite this.
>>
>>740662853
of the Straw Hat ONIONSboys? Yes.
>>
>dude why is spyro doing so well????
Does nobody remember the current adult zoomers were raised on Skylanders?
>>
>>740664715
it was just a series of nicely polished ps1 games when there was a lot of jank shit floating around
still looks good due to the art gelling with the ps1 limitations and is fun to pick up and play today
also the soundtrack is great
>>
>>740662941
yeah they need to make another remake for the "best game of all time" because the people who say that haven't played it yet
>>
>>740666971
See? Context only matters when you want it to
>>
>>740662581
I think they're both run as ads
>>
>>740663317
How many gow comments are about the dumbass cube?
>>
>>740662941
Brooo, noone but North America and the UK cares about those silly Nintendo games (except for Mario of course)
>>
>>740665038
I grew up with the ps1 mascot platformers like Spyro... and I simply never understood the appeal
I even like the more obscure ones like that muppet monster adventure game over Spyro...
However, I remember enjoying the Elijah Wood Spyro one- that one was gud
>>
Shame Toys for Bob got to ruin Spyro's rare chance at a revival after ruining Crash's chance
>>
6.5M now, it's going to surpass Laufey before this thread dies
>>
It's literally 4 year old children watching that trailer on their ipad
>>
>>740667807
How many years ago was Skylanders now?
>>
>>740683314
So?
