>>740683535Input lag isn't real.
>>740672620>80 gamesIs that a lot?
>>740672620>Rhythm Tengoku
>>740683535i recall input lag being an issue on the gba one, had to mess with some settings to get it right. all the others i played on real hardware
>>740683535I beated them all in emulators and suck at rhythm games, so probably not an issue.
>>740683473FUCK YOU
>>740683896they usually have 50 stages so i guess
>>740672620It looks good but a lot of the games seem pretty much identical to previous rhythm heaven games only with different visuals. Same with a lot of the music.I guess you can only do so much with such a simple rhythm concept. But I dunno if I need to buy this when I already have Megamix on the 3DS.Guess it depends on the pricing.
>>740683896Yes, the others generally had around 50 or 60 games in them.
>>740672620Nintendo didn't hire Minus8 to make the script.
>>740683951huh?
>>740683896Wonder if they’ll include everything in the final remix or awkwardly split it up again
>>740684025Hold the phone how the fuck? I can't get my RHDS to sync up at all?I tried so many different options but despite being able to perfect this easily on hardware 10 years ago, I can't even pass it now because of emulation settings. I don't know it's it's audio lag or input lag or the rendering is wrong or just why it's so hard to get it right Seriously how the fuck?
>>740683323Crazy into you
>>740684341It's 40 bucks>>740685141Probably depends on how much of the games are sequels
>>740685513>It's 40 bucksSold.Nintendo won.
>>740683473worst game of all time
>>740684025>>740685385I actually also had played and finished rhythm heaven on drastic DS emulator but all my timings felt off when playing on a real DS, input lag is real. You need to adapt a bit but for games like lockstep, the shoot em up and marshstomp it's extremely noticeable
>>740686456Yeah Drastic is exactly what I'm usingIt's feels so weird
>>740683535ds emulators are horrible for input lag, at least the mainstream options. I have one of those shitty ds emulation devices and anything with precise timings is impossible like elite beat agents and rhythm heaven. I have an original ds too, they play fine on there so it's not just a skill issueMaybe it's just a desmume thing, maybe it's the something about the chinkheld hardware. I'd guess it's both. Either way ds lites and 500 in 1 game carts (they're literally just r4s) are cheap so ds emulation is kind of pointless
>>740685942That's not lockstep
>>740688004Rockers was such a good one. Frog hop, the Soviet bird one, god the DS one was so good. Were the other ones even trying?

>>740688605the wii and gba one are both excellent and filled with SOVL too. its really just the 3ds rehash one that brings it down. but I agree ds is the best, touch controls gave it more flair
rhythm heaven is a good series, I suppose.
>>740672620this game already has such a better feel to it than the "look how random and quirky we are" 3ds one.
>>740691130IIIII SUPPOSEHEY!
>>740683535runahead settings on RA will get you close enough, it will be harder than real hardware but very playable. Dont use any bluetooth audio. Dont use a standalone ds emulator.
>>740672620The art is horrendous. Cool that they added a bunch of stuff from the GBA game I guess
>>740685385I had the same experience on my phone, using melonds core in retroarch fixed it
>>740688004Is this not already widely understood? I’d argue “metronome” games deserve their own category. Things like Lockstep, Monkey Watch, Flock Step, etc.
>>740691730I keep trying with drasticI guess I can try Melon and see

This will be my first Rhythm Heaven. I’m excited for it. Which should I emulate to get into the series?
>>740716164They're all fairly short (except Megamix's long fucking story mode) so I'd say play them all. But if I had to choose one, Fever is the most consistently great game in the series.
>>740716164I second what the other anon said. Fever is what put the franchize in the spotlight, and for a very good reason.I personally find Megamix to be a bit underrated. The minigame selection is great and it has a ton of remastered content, so I'd recommend going for it as a second game. However, going for the DS game instead is also valid as it establishes a lot of themes that became recurring after the early installment weirdness that was the first game if you're willing to deal with FUCKING Moai Doo-WopThe first game, Rhythm Tengoku, should be the last entry you play. Not because it's bad it kinda is though, but because it's HARD
>>740716164Definitely don't emulate the DS one unless you have a good touch screen device of some kind.

Best reveal this direct.
I understand the ire Megamix gets, especially given just how damn good its predecessors are, but I wouldn’t say it’s a bad game. Core gameplay’s still the same and while it features stuff from previous entries it also has some new things of its own. It’s still worth a play, all of them areIt unfortunately suffers from the fact that since the others are better it gets maligned as a bad game for not measuring up, even if it’s still fine. Other example i’d point to is rayman legends; not as good as origins, but it’s still a damn good game. But since it came out on bottom, everyone labels it as shit>>740710856>>scoring system and skill stars from Megamix are goneNot surprised, only reason they were able to get away with it on 3ds was cause of the bottom screen where they were places. Wouldn’t’ve really been able to add them without having to add their visuals on-screen which would’ve been kinda distracting. Didn’t care much for them anyway, especially the scoring system which had me stressing over making sure my inputs were perfect>>740718228Same, most of the stuff sounds better in jp

>>740734448im so lonely that the fail screen actually triggers me and makes me depressed
>>740720238The RPG looks really interesting. None of my friends are interested in Rhythm Heaven so if you can't play with CPUs then I'll probably never touch the multiplayer stuff
My friend said it looked boring. They only showed easy versions in the trailer, yeah?
>>740745252yeah and there's always 2-3 versions of each game to ramp up difficulty
>>740745367Sweet. I knew there were harder ones, but I wasn’t sure if some were only easy. Thanks
>>740691940Eh the other "non-metronome" cues are just metronomes where you're not pressing all the time. Like tongue lashing, you can just tap on the beat as much as you want and beat it. Hole in one too, I don't think it's a meaningful enough distinction, really does boil down to cue and copy. And then a lot of the cue games would just become metronome anyway, frog hop is a metronome, flip flop, rhythm rally, ah this doesnt matter
>>740673246I picture something else when I see this image
Why does the art look worse even though it's such a simple style that i couldn't even imagine getting altered? I cant even tell exactly what is off about it. To be fair this started in 3DS. Maybe even arguably started in wii. DS and GBA actually look more alike than DS does to Wii i think. Though there's a sizeable gap between gba and DS.
>>740747589No more mob eyes.
How many unique games do you think this game has before it gets to the sequels? Usually it's between 25-30, but since there's 80 levels this time rather than the usual 50 there could be 40-50 unique games there.
>>740707229you can probably just play with a controller in both hands again like you could on the wii
>>740747923Assume that the co-op's 30 levels are part of the 80 they mentioned that leaves 50 singleplayer games. So I assume it'll be about 35 unique minigames + remixes and then 15 sequels.
>>740747414I think of those kinds of games as marches because the first instance was the marching game in Tengoku. I'd say it's fair to count them as their own category because maintaining a beat is its own kind of challenge that's different from reacting to cues or memorizing sequences. The best games like Tap Troupe and Lockstep are about deviating from a main rhythm and trying to get back to it.

I feel like the characters themselves are less appealing than the ones in previous games, rather than how they're actually drawn.Fever had nonstop cuties. Most of the 'girls' in Groove look like ambiguous-sex, flat blobs.
>>740707679I do miss the old butt. Reminds me of my gf
WHY DOES ROCKERS 2 HAVE TO INTRODUCE A BUTTON WHEN LITERALLY THE ENTIRE REST OF THE GAME DOESNT USE THEM I FUCKING HATE IT

>>740683535>does input lag ruin itYes, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.I have a real Nintendo Wii right in front of me and playing Monkey Watch is a complete different experience. I had to be totally locked in communing with the universe to clear that shit on Dolphin, while it's just a regular minigame on a real Wii.
>>740764134Monkey Watch is still one of the trickier ones cause you gotta keep a consistent beat, but I think I got a stronger sense of rhythm than most so it didn't take long for it to click for me. Offbeat on the other hand, fuck me...
>>740762614Good atmosphere on this song.
>>740765213Uh, I mean Lockstep obviously. I just woke up and had my coffee, my brain no good yet
>>740765253I fear Polyrhythm 2 the most. It's the only one that makes you keep track of two rhythms at once in the entire series.
>>740765321I haven't played Silver but it does look tricky, though I wouldn't say it's two rhythms as both tracks are 4/4, just with the occasional offbeat note. I guess if you like to do body percussion or finger drumming it might come easier to you
>>740765253lockstep is extremely easy if you use two hands to keep the rhythmtry it on yourself. Play the song, and tap the rhythm with just one hand, and you'll notice how it feels a bit odd when it swaps. Then start over but this time tap the rhythm with both hands.
>>740765321That fruit catching game in Megamix also makes you do that. Also if you hold two controllers you can play 2-player games in Fever by yourself and it's not too hard
>>740765621>>740766136Normally the left and right sides mesh into each other, but not here.
>>740672620>speaks english>says japanese titleare you retarded?
>>740716164Wii and then GBA
>>740766571>says japanese titleThe Japanese title would be リズム天国 though. How do you get this upset at people not caring about "official localisation"? The game was called Rhythm Tengoku for years before the first translated release.
>>740766773the series has been Rhythm Heaven in the west for 18 years. You probably call Earthbound Mother 2 because you hate not being japanese.
>>740766861I call Earthbound "Mother 2" to differentiate the (terrible) game I played from the glorified fanfiction game retards like you played. Maybe the OP is doing the same thing, given how they fucked up all the voice work in the translations?
>>740767068
That AI voice sounds horrible tho. I hope you can turn it off.
I kind of wish they didn't follow the idea that every minigame must be playable with audio alone so strictlyIt's still a video game and having to react to visual cues can make gameplay feel more varied and fun than endless cues and responses
>>740767327the whole point of the series is to train your sense of rhythm m8. cant train that if you just rely on visual cues all the time
>>740767327there are many games in the series you can't play with audio cues alone
>>740704672more like kind & unhappy, rhythm heaven fans are depressed af because they're pure fairies who have to live in a world of barbarians
>>740767467Well, I choose to remain optimistic despite everything. Being cynical is easy, and even if/when the world proves you right, it doesn't feel good.
>>740767457I mean a lot of DS minigames are janky or unplayable without visual cues, and weirdly I kind of like thatA lot of minigames already feel very similar to each other, and I think following the mantra too rigidly is contributing to that imo
>>740766861go to sleep, it's european time, it's called: Rhythm Paradise
I only played Rhythm Heaven Fever (wii) and loved it, which one should I play next?
>>740768402DS. Or Groove I guess, it looks good

>>740772483Was just going to say that this is my favourite (of the first game since it's the only I played). The song is so catchy that I often find myself whistling it now and then. And also put it in one of the yearly compilation "mixtapes" I make for a certain event each year.
>>740760978>he didn't see the posts during the Nintendo direct
>>740763389I listen to the music quite often, probably my most listened to ostbut i never played them. Well I tried on the PS2 but i didn't like it
>>740683535I've played tengoku on emulator and real hardware and it's night and day, you can complete it but it's an order of magnitude harder. If you don't have a GBA and flash cart, running it on 3ds as a virtual console inject is your best option, and of course the 3ds also runs DS and Megamix natively.Fever is surprisingly responsive on Dolphin so if you have no hardware whatsoever, play that one.
>>740683535I had no trouble emulating the original on a CRT monitor.
>>740683951>>740698719I usually don't call them by their original japanese names, but i will consciously choose to do it more now since it pisses (You) off in particular. Just for the love of the game.

>>740690195It's the thick black round lines for me. Makes me think of Flash animations. Simple artstyles look the best for me when they're more angular. This just looks like it's emulating the old hardware limitations (which it basically is). Also, the grayish brown (or brownish gray) skintone that is somehow very prevalent in Japanese games these days looks very unappealing to me.
>>740763389DJ YOSHITAKA as the new head for Konami's arcade branch has been an incredible boon, we finally got genres back for new songs and new character arts for rival characters that are not the nth reskin of old characters except the version's Mimi/Nyami all over again
