How are bad games even made anymore?
The formulas for good games were all figured out in the 2000s

Only if it's too much money, because budgets are huge compared to the 2000's
>>
The people who make games now have never played or even heard of those old games.

If someone hasn't heard of Mario Galaxy they're being willfully ignorant

This is the reason. All of the formulas for "good games" are actually formulas for shit games.
Companies wanted to streamline the production of badly designed yearly slop, so enginedevs streamlined licensed engines for badly designed yearly slop and those licensed engines are now so ubiquitous and form the training material for so many new developers that the entire industry produces poorly designed, yearly slop on autopilot, albeit once every 3-8 years due to incompetence.

All payments for information-based goods published to the public are voluntary, no matter what you do, you are essentially a vtuber begging for donations and sucking people off behind a Wendy's.
