How do you guys use /v/? Do you only scroll page 1 or do you use the catalog to find what you're looking for? Personally i only scroll page 1
>>
Catalog. I can easily spot any OP image that i'm interested in
>>
Catalog is the way to go if you want to reduce amount of wasted time reading time wasting questions and hypotheticals.

Catalog obviously
Why the fuck would you want to read or go into threads you don't care about/dislike?

Mostly page one or look for the popular threads on 4stats.
Sometimes catalog ordered by newest thread
>>
I jump between the 2 or 3 threads that are specicific to my tastes at the moment, discuss the game, shitpost, then fuck off to do something else.

Most good games go undiscussed so you have to actively seek it out and contribute. /v/ is mostly shill noises.

I have a shitton of filters with 4chanX that a generous anon posted somewhere back several months ago. It has dozens if not hundreds of line of code to filter specific metadata and shitposts so the site becomes actually usable. Otherwise the quality of the site is unbearable.
If I click "[Show]" (the ~100 hidden posts) it's only coombait and /pol/posting out the wazoo.
4chanX forces the catalog display. The first thing you learn when lurking is that the catalog view is the best and only way to engage with the content otherwise for boards like /v/ it happens too fast to make sense of it.
I don't spend my days here but a quick look a the filtered catalog allows me to consume quality content and stay up to date with the gayming news.

I use page 1 then start hiding most threads from there then hit page 2 and do the same until i find a good thread then get bored and i leave to do something else.

Best way is catalog mode, sort by bump order, and pin threads you're interested in or have commented on.

I've been on 4chan since 2004, I lurked for pretty much a year and it was only creepypasta threads on /b/ in 2005 that got me to start posting, I didn't start using the catalog until super super late something ridiculous like many years after it came out, and I didn't start using the pin function until like 2010 to 2013 or something forgot when. And I didn't start playing with the settings to set expanded image to fit into my screen until two years ago or something.

Basically I'm a retard when it comes to trying new things and functions. I stick with the default settings for the longest time.
>>
Catalog mode obviously? I have it set up so that keywords I look for are highlighted to the top of the catalog
>>
>>740701606
>So basically most posts in a thread
No, that would be sorting by reply count.
Threads that get (non-saged) replies get bumped to the top of the catalog, so sorting by bump order is sorting by the threads that got the latest replies.

Catalog, I use filters and hide pretty much anything related Naughty Dog, CDPR, Nintendo, Sony, Pokemon, etc. Annoying shit. It's much easier to use /v/ when there isn't borderline porn or softcore porn everywhere.
>>
>>740704993
I filter GTA because I am not interested in the series and there's lots of threads for it. I don't agree or disagree with anyone over it, I just clear it away because it's clutter. Did the same for Smash threads when half of the board was that, I just don't care about Smash and it was clogging the view.
I don't believe these are for avoiding people who disagree with me.

Personally I don't use filters for the benefit of doubt that some good post might get hit, the only time I used it was for dalle threads because I knew 100% that nothing interesting can come from it.
But filtering certain words and pictures is perfectly understandable because they basically serve as a "please argue with me" sign, and aren't worth engaging with.
Now that I think about it, maybe I should try putting up some filters and see how it goes.

I filter cyberpunk threads, not because I dislike the game. But whoever makes those threads posts the same thing over and over again. He has like 40 different templates and I've been keeping track of them. I don't think there is any fanbase more insufferable than Cyberpunk's. And before you say I'm a hater, this is my playtime. I don't hate them game, I hate (you), specifically.

I still use frames on the left side, showing all the boards. And I order the boards by "paged", showing one page each screen.
It's more or less how I've always used 4chan.
>>
Indexfags are just letting decent lower traction threads slowly fall off while they mostly get the fastest and inevitably shittiest threads. Creation date sorting doesn’t help because of how fast some threads can fill compare to others, a good slow thread will still require you to go way back to page 6+. There hasn’t been an excuse for it for years since any 4chan extension gives you the most recent replies in a thread on hover for the catalog anyways and it takes a few seconds to just middle mouse click to new tab and quickly scan anything that might be of value if the preview isn’t enough to go on.

Endless scroll nigga.
Anyone who uses the catalog is a nigger contributing to the enshittification of this site. Seeing the latest 5 posts in a thread gives context to the discussion and lets you quickly determine if the thread is even worth opening. Catalog niggers only ever see the OP and therefore can't contribute to active discussion. This diluting that active discussion with replies only to the OP.

M00t was a fag for implementing catalog when he should have just banned Generals site wide. It might have saved this place.

Everything in life will end in heartache.
For a life as tragically short as theirs, and as little love as they get, i want to provide for them as much as I can.
They have so much personality, but are designated as dirty animals or as exclusively feeders.
I want to right some of the injustices socoety has laid on these wonderful little guys anyway i can.
>>
>>740716307
You could say that about most pets.
It hurts even worse with ones that only live for 10ish years.
>>
>>740716651
The average wild rat IS a dirty animal, and also a pest, it's not an unfounded stereotype. They carry a myriad of diseases and multiply quick to offset their short lives and small size. Evolution's peak of survival in mammals in a way. They're very different from your pet rats. They have to be, because the world is a tough place when you're small.

I'm just saying, it's designated that because of history having it BE that, from all the way back to the Black Plague. I literally said it's not the same as your pet, because a wild beast, especially a small one, has to be that way to survive. Rats just had the unfortunate lot when domesticated of being also designated as testing animals for medical and psychological experiments because they're smart.

That too, plus their biology works well with it, they're social animals, and they are easy to observe. In uni I saw a grad project that had to use snails and it was fucking awful compared to rat ones. Really, a rat is the whole experimental package, short of just kidnapping a hobo. But then again, rats can be observed from birth to death much quicker too.
