I spent halfway through the path to the Swamp luring enemies and taking them down because the dude kept dying. 20 reloads later, fucking finally we managed to get there. Do not recommend using him as a crutch.

At least in Gothic 2, Risen and Elex you were given unique quests. It's a 8/10 remake to a 8/10 game. I've played all PB games and Gothic 1 is like their 4th best game. While I appreciate the remake (1st game had notoriously bad controls and UI designed for keyboard only) I prefer first Risen and Elex over Gothic 1. Risen perfected that "be super weak and explore an intricate and hostile world full of mysteries" formula and Elex has way more enjoyable combat and vertical world design thanks to jetpack.

Just loot everything after you're done and you will find the Light.tier 2 lightning ball rune (Kugelblitz) is exactly above the guy who teaches you how to climb. Swim out past the shipwreck a bit further north and there is a wall to climb, make your way back in direction of the swamp bro while climbing around and you will find a cave. You can hear the 2 zombies too if you're close.
