I haven't tried N. Hanced but I imagine it's necessary to make the game tolerable. Christ, Crash 4 is a confused clutter of chaos. The perfect example of why terrible optional content should absolutely be judged when talking about a game.

If you play it exactly once and don't bother for 100% completion...it's good. Probably really good, but if you even dip a toe into collecting all the crystals and the time relics, prepare to be very frustrated and incredibly disappointed. Every level you'll end up doing several times for full completion, with incredibly tight times for platinum and hidden boxes that you'd never think to look while also usually having only 1 life and rarely an Aku Aku mask to give you leeway. Sure, there's a crystal for getting a level in 3 lives or less, but there's also the one for completing the level in 1 life, so really if die once you might as well go back to the start anyway to get both.

It's a 8/10 if you never touch it again. It's a 4/10 if you go for everything.

nhanced is great, i added a mod for classic colors crash, crates and the crash 3 ui and sounds. those little things actually made the game bloom, suddenly breaking boxes was fun again. i think 4 is massively overhated, i found myself replaying it many times, so it must've done something right.
my only issue is tawna, why didn't they go with the crocodile dundee design? if they had to have the side cute why not make it look better at least? the model is ugly.

getting the triple spin earlier is also a godsend since i find that fun to use slide spin makes you faster anyway

I mean certain levels split up or interruptions aside, its biggest problem was absolutely the 100% completion nightmare. You can't really have any leniency or fun with the game without the mod that tries to unfuck it, because otherwise you're playing reaaallly long levels over and over again trying to find those damn crates hidden in the most obtuse of locations because fuck you.
