Every direct is bad in the eye's of the public these days. People want all the heavy hitters every single direct. The early Switch 1 directs were legendary because Nintendo were fucked unless they announced massive games every single direct. But look at some of the early announcements eg Metroid Prime 4. Nintendo fucked up badly announcing that far, far too early. I think Nintendo going forward this generation will only have the next half a year's worth of games announced, save a few things (at the moment Pokemon and Xenoblade). I think 1 or 2 Directs per year is the new norm. Stock is plummeting because the Switch 1 was lightning in a bottle and this is just business as usual. Nothing has changed about their release schedule for first party games - if anything its still better than it was in the Wii U generation. There are loads of things to play - I am convinced people's expectations are too high and even if Nintendo blew their load and announced everything planned for the next 24 months it would still not release any faster.

Switch 2 is strong enough to handle most 3rd party ports now. It's no surprise nintendo is using that added support to hold back on their own releases and announcements now.
