Absolutely braindead and overpowered trinkets, there is too much emphasis on scooping up minor amounts of currency and the side areas are uninteresting, the movement is kind of lazy and there isn't much you can do with it compared to silksong, just an all around casual normalfag game for people who want something they can intuitively bludgeon to death

>>
>>740794145
>Absolutely braindead and overpowered trinkets
For me it's the amount of them, and I think a lot of them should have just been upgrades so the game could balance around them better.
>there is too much emphasis on scooping up minor amounts of currency
Yeah, this is fucking ridiculous.
>the side areas are uninteresting
They are. There are so many of them and most of it just comes down to collecting bones. Feels both cluttered and insignificant. It's trying to be Zelda, but it's getting it completely wrong because it's trying to be a bunch of other games too.
I do really like the burrowing mechanic and how it's used, the game just needed to be much more focused.
>>
I beat the hell out of Silksong but after 2 generators in Mina I haven’t played it in a couple days and I’m not super interested to pick it back up desu. It’s good and well done but the overall atmosphere and story and shit are doing absolutely nothing for me, not that I’m super into Silksong story either but every area has a level of intrigue in it and getting more powerful feels great whereas Mina I’m not really interested in what’s next every screen is just “how do I get through this as fast as possible” as if it’s just tedious. Also no map is fucking annoying.
>>
>>740792939
Mina reminded me just how shitty the average indie game is and that Hollow Knight/Silksong are positive outliers.
>>
>>740794273
The answer to that depends on several questions we don't have answers to. Is gravity quantized? Do black holes actually have a singularity inside them, or is the fuzzball model correct? Etc.
>>
>>740794273
>>740794874
If the fuzzball model is correct the answer is a number so small that you can't even understand it btw

Ehh, I liked it. Trobbio and Skarrdancer makes it worth it.
>>
I didn't care for Hollow Knight enough to get the sequel but Mina is my GOTY currently. Silksong does have much nicer art, though.
>>
why did silksong release feel so natural and like team cherry didn't even care about the sales, while mina feels astroturfed and desperate?
>>
>>740800282
Because Silksong has a smaller dev team and they never once mentioned wanting or needing to meet a specific number of sales.
>>
>>740792939
Mina isn't bloated so it wins by default. It also helps that its map design and upgrade acquisition isn't ass-backwards.
Silksong is a textbook example of why "git gud" brainrot causes people to never notice when a game is wasting their time. Silksong makes you do fetch quests to reach the true ending of the game. Silksong offers health upgrades after you've already bashed your head against the wall against 70% of the game's bosses. Silksong has no idea what the term "ebb and flow" means for its difficulty curve.
Silksong is a badly designed game. Mina is not.
>>
>>740800425
>I can trivialize a game so it's good
You're why games suck now, not sjws or whatever, its you, you're the problem

>>
>>740799741
So yea. Poor
>>
>>740792939
Silksong has better bossfights and feels better, but Mina was much less bloated, more fun, and didn't feel like a chore like Silksong often did.

Mina wins
>>
>>740800851
>don't have standards, just consoooooom
>>
>>740792939
Silksong by a landslide, apart from boring enemies, boring "puzzles" and a boring soundtrack, Mina is also ugly as sin.
>>
>>740800378
so is it natural to recoil in disgust at this kind of behavior in the press, which borders on begging? and at the uniformly constructed reviews that sound like they were written by dev team? because game itself aside, that was my reaction

Silksong. But it's really close to me.
I'm into my second Mina playthrough and I'm surely going to do another one afterwards too.
I did two playthroughs of Silksong too though, and the only reason I didn't do three was because I'm waiting for the DLC to come.
These games are incredible.
>>
Got a few bosses in to silk song and got bored.
Beat mina twice.
Canr say weather it was because mina was a lot easier or if i just liked the goofier setting of hollower more.

I know Mina is a cake since she's likely over 30, but is the bug also 25+ years old? Never played Silksong.

>>740792939
100% ed both games, I enjoyed Mina more, felt like Team Cherry balanced the fun out of the game, early/endgame felt too similar...
>>
>>740799953
NTA but it has some of the best bosses but in terms of exploration it becomes genuine dog shit with the game basically just devolving into backtracking through every area you've already been through with literally nothing new to see until you get to the abyss. Silksong probably has the best combat and bosses of any metroidvania ever but it's still a metroidvania at the end of the day so exploration is king.

>>
>>740792939
Silksong has better gameplay. Combat in Mina is a bore and the "puzzles" are for 8 year olds. In terms of exploration I'd rate them similarly.
>>
>>740803461
I agree that Silksong is better, but they're such different games it's hard to compare them directly.

>>740806673
what the fuck am I reading
>>
>>740806968
Exploration in Silksong is just having a hidden room in every other corner or going through a boring obstacle course to get someone difficult to reach, it's not particularly interesting and doesn't inspire that feeling of discovery and adventure that makes the genre good. Don't even need to mention Mina, it's trash. Magnolia is good because it's all about using your different moves to reach something you can see but aren't sure how to get to and being creative which makes for much better actual exploration. It's much more organic and not railroaded and doesn't involve you boringly bumping against every wall in every room you go into.

Silksong casuals got filtered by the difficulty. 'Nuff said.

>>
>>740792939
Mina is easier, but a much more enjoyable experience overall, in my opinion. Loved Silksong, though, and if we're being honest, nostalgia was a heavily deciding factor in how much I enjoyed Mina. YCG really nailed the Link's Awakening aesthetic perfectly.
>>
silksong is like a cake with tiny razors inside and Im thinking its perfectly fine cake why would they add tiny razors, mina is a cake with tabasco frosting and again you think why would they so that and then you eat it and there's tabasca inside also mixed with regular ingridients and then you get it, oh the baker is trolling me, when baker was a little kid his dad made him drink tobasco sause because they didnt know any better back then and baker's wires got crossed, he now thinks tabasco sause=love and comfort, so now you have to endure the hot sause if you want to eat the cake
>>
>>740792939
minas graphics are too tiny and the main character looks dumb, very unappealing
>>
>>740806525

>>
>>740806525
The bosses and combat in general in Ender Lilies was shit. I highly doubt the sequel is any better especially since I'm sure it still has an i-frame dodge.
>>
>>740810007

>>
>>740792939
silksong. mina is great but it's a bit too easy

>>
>>740813967
It's my own fault I am sure. But I played Mina the Hollower by going full offence. I had the uranium bracelet on for the entire game and I only levelled up Attack and my Sidearms power.
Didn't ever level up Defence until the other stats were both level 20.

So I died a ton, over and over and over in Mina the Hollower. Silksong was a lot easier for me.
>>
>>740817645
>Uranium Bracelet
You were gimping yourself by the lategame with that for sure. It used to be good in the demo, but now the damage buff is negligable at higher levels, while enemies just get a flat percentage bonus damage against you.
>>
I liked silksong better but I think mina is great too. they are both the best games i've played in the last handful of years.
>>
>>740804981
