no one is impressed with technology anymore. i don't really know what happened.

From what I've heard, apparently the existence of NFTs, Crypto, Metaverse and Elon Musk made everyone hate technology. But that's a pretty retarded viewpoint, since each of those are such minuscule things. Why would you care about them, were you scammed and hold a grudge? Did you associate tech with Elon so strongly, that when your Musk derangement syndrome kicked in, it lead to Technology derangement syndrome?

Anon I think you need to get off social media. You're bringing up a whole bunch of random talking points out of nowhere and clearly making up some random strawman in your head and practically fighting ghosts at this point, and your conclusion somehow ends at talking about literally all technology as a whole.

AI and technology are not the same thing. AI is just one thing under technology. Considering that technology by definition encompasses all human inventions since the beginning of mankind, or even if you just limit it to electronic/software technology, it's unreasonable to say that someone's opinion on AI should reflect on your opinion of "technology" in its entirety.

There's a billion minecraft clones. It's not hard to make one. Many people do it as a first project for learning how to make a game. Since there are so many the LLM has all that code it can pull from and spit out. Cookie cutter stuff.

I'm not paying for slop you generate op. This board is full of children, jeets and thirdworlders so I'm not suprised they somehow find this to be mindblowing because they don't have any understanding how code or LLMs work in the slightest.

Technology doesn't exist. There hasn't been a single noticeable development since the world ended in 2012, and no significant leaps since the turn of the millenium.
The world is headed for another economic crash, and every self-proclaimed visionary is just trying to find some suckers for their pyramid scheme and reach millionairehood before being swallowed in the ever-growing global lower class.
Look at all the shit you scratched up. AGI, blockchain, mini black holes, laser fusion, protein simulation. What does it even do? Bigger numbers, streamlined processes, the "next big thing" but never a single practical application, even ten years past it's heyday—because there was never even a two-year plan to begin with. How many times will you let yourself get rugpulled before becoming a little bit skeptical over the next world-changing best-ever gadget of the week?

Because it doesn't change life anymore.
Look at what happen with technology
>You need to go to a public phone to call someone, and they might not be beside their phone
>Then you can have your own cellphone and call someone, but they may not have a cellphone
>Now you can just send a message and find someone anytime

For internet
>Suddenly, you are connected to media & information overseas, without needing to be at the location

For AI
>Le funny image
>Le half assed shit game
>Le fake ass video
All for what? A quick rush of dopamine?
Not to mention how AI ruined life by causing a mass retrenchment and replacing workers.
Come to me again when AI changed life for the better.

Elon is just another conman like all other tech CEOs or big names. No one is excited for scams.

AI for making art
>>
>>740832857
Because paying real people for half assed, slow, and regrettable content is a terrible and costly option. AI is straight up better in that regard. You can change it at will to your liking. You can't tell the tranny to not inject his pronouns and memes into a game translations, he'll cancel you on Twitter. Just tell AI to do it faithfully and review it, done.
That's the short sighted view
In the longer term, Jews will use it for the surveillance state and keep everyone hooked up on constant dopamine personalized to their tastes like Cockwork Orange -there will never be any revolts or resistance as long as everyone is drugaddled by AI

I'm not impressed because the quality of life isn't drastically increasing like more practical inventions have managed, and most of it has been largely negative effects such as AI used in an already shitty job application filter process.
If technology was used to optimize our hardware uses, make things take up less resources (both computer and non-computer things like energy, water etc.), increase overall efficiency instead of a fixation on how much money it generates then we wouldn't have some people hostile to the idea of newer technology altogether.
I like tech, it's just not getting any better. AI isn't doing anything that benefits me and often it is used against my interests such as changing my search results on google to make it incredibly unhelpful, generate fake videos that clog up my feed, and generally just not being used like how older iterations of AI were used. In fact I would say AI is largely *abused* instead, as using it would imply that it serves a purpose. It is used to create endless chaff on top of the already dense amount of contradicting information on the internet. It adds a whole other layer of bullshit I have to sift through to get information.
AI is "nigga technology" because nobody exercises their brain using it. 9/10 times you get people (a lot of kids in school doing this but plenty of adults) who just tell the computer to think for them. It spoonfeeds them and they don't know if they're eating oatmeal or shit because if they bothered to look at the source:
>they find out some of the things the AI says is bullshit amalgations of things people spouting bullshit said
>they figure out if it's actually real or not
And the funniest part? If they did that, they don't even need AI. They could just read or use the things it stole from. AI steals shit, it's actual nigga technology.
You know what we could do instead of playing AI minecraft it made for $30? Play actual minecraft. Minecraft is $29.99. I could pirate minecraft too. Damn.

Generative AI is a tiny part of overall AI use. All the hype is from retards who want AI to think for them. You dont hear about the AI reading vibration, flow and decibel sensors on a pump to predict failures and reduce unexpected downtime. You dont hear about the AI cameras spotting visual defects 100x faster then a human on a production line. The automated support bot that eliminates 90% of "you need to unplug it and plug it back in" level support requests letting your human support team focus on actual issues. Not pretty so its not talked about.
AI is fucking everywhere.

Yes I'm aware of that use of AI, I alluded to older uses of it specifically because it can be used effectively. What part of "when I bother to include them in search results" indicates that I never do? Or did are you even able to read the things it generates for you?
Sometimes I have to sift through a lot of shit to find something that sticks out.
Even just looking at a booru page it's oily-tier shiny skin and sometimes even a 3d model for some reason. They use it as a crutch and all it does is remind me of ancient ben 10 porn I saw when I was impressionable. It just isn't being used by people in a way that shows variety. I've browsed hundreds of pages and it's all the same type of shit. The "AI_generated" tag is a shitshow on any booru because nobody moderates themselves or each other in how it is made or used so they all upload the same shit constantly. A sketchy drawing feels refreshing with a style change, and sure an AI can generate it, but the people don't because they want one thing. They're tasteless plebs that don't expand those tastes or the ways they use that AI to make things. What they do is they prompt it for a specific position and/or fetish with a specific character and call it a day, so it results in what the other anon replied to me with and it's 15 results of [girl] [doggystyle] [sperm entering egg picture] all at once. This is actually the biggest issue (or more divergence) with AI music and other stuff. It's made for the maker, there's no communal aspect, no one has a favorite AI artist, everyone's just making stuff for themselves. I don't blame them, even if you were interested in exploring more there's a billion things out there so you can't even parse through it. This isn't inherently a problem, but sharing in a community is a big way that art and skills grow.

Music that people like is a way smaller pool than art(AI can make new kinds of art) so it's something that could be done but I don't think it has yet.

People can use AI all they want, we're too far gone to stop that, but acting like it's special or anything but theft is moronic. If the technology hadn't developed so quickly to keep up with, laws would have been put in place to immediately crush anything like this as copyright infringement. that picture is truly moronic. You are not supposed to work just to work. You are not supposed to be a mindless soulless slop machine that produces output for no reason or purpose. I know that most humans live this way, zero thinking, zero understanding, they just know that doing X gets them paid and so they do X and they start worshipping their activity that lets them sustain themselves, they start ascribing downright spiritual value to it like wh40k tech priests who have no clue why they have to do what they do but that's what makes the machine/life work. This is why they hate AI.. the average human being has spent their life thinking about nothing, achieving nothing, doing nothing in the most soulless ways possible. Now their soulness activities suddenly have competition and they get scared. You were never supposed to start worshipping the act of doing things, you are supposed to worship what you are doing it for. But that's the problem with the average human: They don't do things for anything other than themselves, they only ever work for their full belly like monkeys. AI is *obviously* the best way forward for humanity. And just as obviously the average human doesn't care about that because it's just about them. Their own personal full belly and comfort and preferably with as little effort as possible.

"Just trust the science" schizos, huge government think tanks, and monied interests from corpos and NGOs alienated people from scientific inmovation. But "innovation" these days are small step by step shit that the normal person cannot quantify in their lives. Spending billions of dollars to operate on rats to maybe learn a little more about cancer, will not impress a person who needs to make ends meet that week. There is no longer a great leap that would wow a person. 10 years ago we had small phones, 15 years ago the phones were a little bigger, 20 years ago we finally got a touch screen phone. For the last decade nothing truly great or innovative has entranced people just stupid gimmicks that are more just more inconvenient or unremarkable if you think about it. Tesla runs on electricity? Oh, it's kinda dogshit compared to a regular gasoline powered car. And the battery is mined by slaves in Africa that ruins entire ecosystems so it isn't socially or environmentally consiencious too. Now coupled with interference from outside forces science and technology isn't something that is remarkable anymore. Some would say it's a detrimental to humanity, as uncle Ted would say.

We went from a wide market of weird products to... everything is an iPhone. The latest "big thing" has been nothing but investment scams. Trillions are being wasted on AI slop, which has zero value and will never have any value, because retarded bean counters think "line must go up". We're looking at the biggest economic crash in history, and there is nothing any real person can do to stop it, because those in power are completely incompetent and trying to line their pockets and get out before the bubble pops and starves 5 billion people to death.

If AI can only function for dev tasks when humans tardwrangle it every step of the way, how does that make the process more efficient?
>>

Then just prompt an "original idea," retard.

LLMs are literally a dead end, it's hilarious how corpos try to push it

how easy is it to vibecode your own game if you can think up every single system and interaction and you can micromanage every aspect?
>inb4 just learn 2 code
it's aids to type out. i used python for statistics, seismology and time series analysis in college and also matlab and mathematica. just endless streams of shit for graphs, figures or math. i can't be bothered to type shit anymore. i want my thoughts in english transcribed nigga
>>
>>740853162
>how easy is it to vibecode your own game if you can think up every single system and interaction and you can micromanage every aspect?
easily
the code is the piss easy part now
getting decent assets is the hard part
if you have an idea of what you actually want the game to be it'll come together quick
just use a good engine and use something like the codex app
>>
>>740823325
mostly because 'tech' nowadays became synonymous with wasting fucktons of resources for barely any benefit, to detriment of the average consumer
but hey, at least claude is able to beat a game designed for 7 year olds now

>BREAKING NEWS! SLOP MACHINE "MADE" SLOP!
well i for one am SHOCKED
>>
>>740842248
you have missed the point entirely, maybe should have asked AI to explain the image to you, kek

the point is that in a creative process, the ideas are way less important or useful than the actual work process that will give shape to the end product in a way that is infinitely more complex and dynamic than idea->product
>>
>>740831834
do you play with your butthole in the process?
weird question, I know you do

I congratulate Altman and his pr team, they really did a stellar job.

AI-created shit isn't remotely impressive, midwit.
>>
>>740856402
Why
>>
>>740827068
The very fact that you say AI is ruining lives by replacing workers points to how enormous its impact already has been. We are still in the very early stages of this whole thing. Even though the progress has already been absoluely insane, it's still accelerating. To say that it's less transformative than the cellphone and the internet, when both of them took many years from when they were first available to consumers to being as ubiquitous as they are today, is underselling AI (and that is with fully acknowledging the impact of cellphones and the internet!).
>>
AI bros… not like this…
>>
theres about 800 million minecraft clones to rip from
3.5 could do this

I like how its always JUST minecraft. Never minecraft but you're in bikini bottom, JUST minecraft but it's minecraft. Try doing something even slightly novel with it.

its a benchmark

>And then you have to comb through the whole code to look what’s causing the errors when you try to compile the code.
Devs have to do that regardless. Except with AI, all your doing is reviewing its outputs instead of having to waste time manually writing the code yourself.
>>
>>740819582
underrated

yeah bro
having to RE code is totally easier than just writing your own damnn code

>>
>>740838448
Yeah, I don't really type out the code myself anymore, but you still need to be able to know how to program to review it and know what you are trying to achieve. AI is not good enough to just write a whole things from a layman's description except maybe the most basic bitch webapp you could copy paste from somewhere anyway. And have you ever actually seen complete clear requirements anyway.
It definitely sucks for trying to get into it now as juniors are basically redundant. If I have to explain what I want done to a retard and fix it afterwards anyway AI does pretty much that. I am still somewhat concerned about how long can I outrun the tide. I work is a fairly specific and regulated subdiscipline (industrial safety) so I think they will want to keep human in the loop for longer but will I be able to find niches to still be useful faster than AI will develop? I'm still only in my 30s. That's still decades until I will be able to retire if at all. I'd expect that the industry will probably manage to change a lot in the meantime.

>>740827176
It's impossible to predict how proteins fold just by the sequence, because the cell has a bunch of mechanisms that help fold the protein in ways it would never fold on its own
>>
>>740861497
Uh, yeah? That is absolutely the case, lol. Reviewing code that isn't your own is only difficult when you have to parse certain parts of it that are bespoke and tailor-made for that specific codebase, but that isn't a problem when the AI will only be outputting code that adheres to your standards, not somebody else's.
>>
>>740823325
Because it is just people flexing their wealth. AI requires you to fully spend tokens to take advantage of it.
>>
>>740862512
they make up bs as they go to compare their models to one another. they likely don't even know what any of it really means but it looks good to AI investors.

AI in general has made gazillions of non-technical people discover the whole "first 80% is 20% of the work, the final 20% is 80%" rule in software engineering. and with vibe coding you can exaggerate those numbers like 5 times

To be fair, Minecraft is the most cloned and documented thing on the planet. This actually steals from a few Minecraft clone repositories, pasting a few functions from this in google came up with near exact matches.
AI coding will be extremely dead when it inevitably copies something from a big company and the copier loses the lawsuit. Microsoft won't touch this though, they could easily win the lawsuit, but it would create more doubt with AI which would hurt themselves more than anything.
