Finished Reverie on Nightmare a week ago. I went into the final fight with a total goober squad because I was expecting another multi-team battle lolAlso beat the postgame boss, they barely got to attack. The inverse difficulty curve in this game is always a little wack. I know Abyss exists but from what I heard it's so suffocatingly overtuned that you basically have to use super optimized meta strats to not die immediately, so I had my fun with Nightmare.Have to finish up some Daydreams still, and I also wanna do the Trials. More often than not the Daydreams are pretty good (Though I thought the Tita one for example was kind of a stinker, did we really need another "test your resolve" dungeon) and the Trials are genuinely badly designed, they barely account for the characters you're actually using, there's almost no thought in encounter design even though they limit your characters.I'm really itching to jump into Daybreak, already got it downloaded but I'll have to be a little more patient and finish things up first.

This is a hot take for JRPG standards but I think Kiseki is the most consistently enjoyable JRPG franchise in existence. No other franchise has it where every single entry without a single exception isn't at bare minimum good and a lot of fun to play through. There are some Tales games I never want to play again, some Final Fantasy, some Dragon Quest, some SMT but I would happily playthrough every single Kiseki again.

By the end of the dungeon 1 hr later they were 45 and outlevelled my main team (which were around 40). I feel like Metaphor has spoiled me on time management. Going from Metaphor where you can instantly see the next confidant rank up after finishing the previous one makes playing P5 Royal annoying as shit every time I need to waste a time slot spending time with someone to build up points for the next rank up. Thankfully I hear Royal gives you so much extra time that it's basically impossible to not have all confidant's and social stats maxed but I still wish it was like Metaphor. Metaphor has made me realize too that I generally don't like the time management stuff being harsh since I just don't find that decision making to be interesting at all and would massively prefer it just be there to pace the game out and give you more than enough time to do all the shit you want to do.

I'm actually just getting into Trails since last year. I didn't start with the remake, I played the original Sky trilogy, and just on Sunday I finished Azure. Five really great games. The only game I am playing at present is RPG-adjacent. Arknights: Endfield. In some ways it reminds me of a PS2-era JRPG. I felt that way about Star Rail as initially before 2.0 so hopefully HG doesn't shit the bed and it stays the course. Last RPGs I played were replays of Phantasy Star IV and Shining Force II. I'll probably dig thru the PS2 catalog and find something I haven't played yet.

And I got the most vanilla, the most bland and the most 'meh' tales game (according to the fanbase): Tales of Zestiria. Let me tell you: It was warm, it was colourful, it was a classic JRPG style journey where you leave your hometown to explore cities, towns, fields, the world. That bland, basic bitch jrpg made me fall in love with games again.
