About to drop 2.5kAUD on a Herman Miller Aeron.

Good for gaming or am I about to get meme'd?
>>
Steelcase Leap is comfier to me but this all depends on a lot of things like what works for your body, what adjustments you need, and how you prefer to sit so it tends to be a bad idea to buy one of these super expensive chairs without going somewhere to actually sit in one first.
Better to test it yourself and avoid getting memed in the first place.
>>
>>740896682
memed.
>>
>>740896682
If you want a high quality chair, look locally for businesses liquidating their office equipment.
>>
>>740897890
People keep saying this but what the fuck does this even mean in practice
How would I ever know about a company closing?

Used goods with lovely fart smells.
>>
>>740896682
I assume you are rich as fuck so the money doesn't really matter. I am reasonably well off (35 y.o., home-owner of a ~1.4 millionAUD dollar suburban home, 110kAUD in my savings account right now) but I would consider 2.5kAUD far too much for an office chair. What is the purpose of spending that much money - what does the chair do to be worth that much?
>>
>>740896682
>am I about to get meme'd
Yes, do not purchase that overpriced shit.

>>740897424
>Leap is comfier to me

Bros, let me improve your lives and shill a company called Beyond the Office Door. They take chairs, fix and refurb them to near factory new, and sell them at super discounted prices. They even do crazy custom shit like taking two different Steelcase chairs and putting them together. I have a Lamia (Steelcase Amia seat pan + Leap base or something), I paid $400-500 for it, and it's been my home office chair for the last five years without a single issue.

Paying full price for brand new office furniture is like buying a brand new car. You could, but why the fuck would you?
>>
Just buy a used one off FB Marketplace/Craigslist/Amazon/Office Supply Resellers.
I have one, and it's very good quality, but it's worth nowhere near what they charge for a new one. I think I got this one for $750, and even that feels a touch too high. Very nice, very comfortable, good build quality, and it sorta forces you to sit with better posture since sitting with poor posture is uncomfortable.
>>
>>740897958
You just need to find a local furniture liquidator company, m8. They usually sell the stuff themselves for next to nothing because they get it from the companies moving offices for free.
>>
>>740897958
You can try checking "gov deals" to see if any government agencies are auctioning off stuff near you
>>
These chairs are overpriced because large companies can afford to buy them. Buying these as a consumer is peak retard.
>>
Ausfailian link, but these are the superior choice. a seat of netting is very comfortable, but it will wear out in a few years, no matter what material they use to make it.

>>740896682
Good chair if you have a height adjustable desk as well.
Don't use the tilt lock (especially since it's ass on aeron), adjust the spring so your normal sitting pose keeps the back steady.

>>740896682
If you can't picture an executive sitting on it, you don't want it

Yeah, I really want a dilapidated office chair with a compromised gas cylinder because Lafwanda was sitting on it for ten years at the DMV.

No, jesus fucking christ do not spend that much on it unless you've compared it to literally everything else.
>Herman Miller Embody
>Steelcase Leap, Gesture etc
>Humanscale Freedom
and many of the other higher end chairs out there

If you're willing to spend that much money (and oyu don't have to in many cases, check out refurbs as some other anons mention) then at least buy something worth it

>Lifeform Chairs Ultimate Executive
I've owned or sat in at least everything else listed plus a few others and outside of those literally 10K+ reclining workstation things (many are actually built like cheap chinkshit or are rebranded dentist chairs though so watch out for it), this is the best ergonomic chair I've found to date.

In the USA, there are a handful of stores that can sell them but they're literally one offs (I got mine from a super knowledgeable lady in Colorado, despite being on the other side of the country. Sadly her store closed with COVID19 and only does B2B orders now), but aside from those Lifeform has a deal with RelaxTheBack, so see if there's one nearby. However, before you buy I suggest you call Lifeform themselves as these things have upgrades and features not not every RTB store knows about.

There is a separate
>High Back
>Mid Back
version; I suggest mid back pictured because you can equip it with a floating adjustable headrest, among other stuff.

Leather isn't good for the many times I just want to sit naked and masturbate.
>>
>>740896682
I really don't think it's necessary to get a thousand-dollar name-brand chair. My 400-dollar Office Depot chair is holding up just fine.
>>
>>740896682
Not worth it. It's an alright office chair. I sit in one at work. You can get them barely used for 200US on faceburg market or craigslist when offices refurnish or businesses shutdown.
Steelcase is nice if you absolutely HATE the ability to sit upright when you want. Their damn chairs flex and bend even when "locked" and the most upright position is 120 degrees allegedly, even though the damn thing will deflect backwards to 150 degrees if you DARE to rest your weight against the chair so the chair does the chair thing of SUPPORTING YOUR FUCKING BACK. God I hate that shit. It also will fall apart in 2 years (I had a Think v2, worst mistake of my life).
I'd just get a Staples special personally. They're way better for less.
>>
>>740898161
i don't want a chair someone else farted on
>>
>>740898954
Thats why you go in person to test the chair out first

>>
Bro just write "ergonomic office chair" or the equivalent in your native language to google.
Look for a chair that looks similar to that Herman Miller but costs maybe one tenth of the price.
And it will be just as good lol.
Herman Miller is kinda like the Gucci of office chairs, you are paying for the brand mostly.

great chair.

two minor or large issues.

1. lumbar support, you might want to replace it with a different version, which is possible.

2. if you're fat or big, prepare to get your balls squeezed. it's not a chair where you easily spread out your legs to let them air or hang. this can not be fixed. it's the one issue that sometimes makes me want to look at other chairs.

No, it's an extremely outdated POS. Mesh chairs are appealing because of sweat and all, I get it, but do consider a typical upholstered chair with foam. Steelcase Leap/Amia, maybe even a Haworth Fern.
I thought I'd hate a fabric chair with foam and that it'd make me sweat terribly, but that hasn't been the case at all.
Don't write off refurbished, either, so long as they are transparent in how they refurbish their stuff (cleaning, repairing, testing, etc.)
>>740897424
The Steelcase Amia for me personally.
>tends to be a bad idea to buy one of these super expensive chairs without going somewhere to actually sit in one first
>Better to test it yourself and avoid getting memed in the first place.
Yes, but important caveat here!!!!:
>You cannot tell if a chair is going to be good for you in such a short amount of time.
You can, for the most part, tell if a chair is utter dogshit from sitting in it (except for the case of the Aeron), but otherwise you need to sit in it for several days before you notice if you're getting back or even hip/leg pain.
This is why I mentioned refurbished earlier in this post. Anyone without a chair can check around, see what the return policy is from some stores. I was lucky enough that the one I ordered from let me send back a couple chairs after sitting in them for a couple weeks
Make sure the refurb place you're ordering from actually cleans and repairs their stock they receive, otherwise cope and buy-once-cry-once or wait for a sale for 20-25% off from Steelcase, Haworth, etc.
Proper sitting posture is also important. The best chair in the world for (You) isn't going to mean shit if you're goblin-slouching in it
It also won't magically fix a bad back, nor completely prevent you from getting fucked up. You NEED exercise. Not even powerlifting shit either, but at least walking for 20+ minutes every day, and getting up every couple hours. Drink water regularly and this is way easier since you have to piss :)
>>
>>740896682
Just buy a good fucking sofa and tell your parents to fuck off if they want to throw it away because it's old. I've gone through 10 of these "gaming" chairs and they've all been literal pains in the ass.
>>
I have an Aeron. Don't get one if you're like me and like to sit crosslegged on occasion. The plastic on the edge of the seat mesh makes it impossible.
>>
I paid 250 bucks for my Aeron and in the 10 years since I've spent probably the same amount on repairs (the armrests were cheap junk so I bought the OEM leather ones, after 15 years it needed a new gas cylinder, and after 20 years it needed new mesh). Love this lil nigga, would never downgrade to a fucking foam chair again in my life.
>>
>>740896682
If you want to sit like an office worker sitting at an 8 hour shift, your back probably won't hurt afterwards.
Or if you're fat at least it won't get smelly.
If you want to lounge or chill though it's not the right chair. It is built for upright productivity and good posture.
>>
>>740919083
He'll eventually melt into the sofa and his skin, bacteria, mold will merge into the sofa, he'll be unable to move from it and will die inside the sofa in his own filth.
>>
>>740896682
An Ergochair 2 is better and much cheaper.
>>
>>740919341
It's a cheap piece of shit. The Aeron is built like a tank in comparison, designed for 300 lbs fatass 24/7 usage.
>>
>>740898087
If you're plopped on that chair for like 6 hours+ a day I'd say it's totally worth it. That's a fourth of your day every day. I believe the same is true with bedding. Get the best because your body is on that thing 8 hours a day.
>>
>>740919785
The problem with this is that the reason people like the Aeron is because it's a good chair and they sold a billion of them to offices so you can get one in great condition for a tenth of the list price.

If you're going to blow 2k you might as well get something more up to date.
>>
i got the logitech fancy one i dont really recommend it isnt worth the price, having to get a headrest, ontop of the arm rests sucking is annoying, also its fucking heavy and sits way too low so every time i try to scoot up my chair to my desk it bangs against the carpet protector thing under my desk, its so fucking annoying
honestly recommend the staples one with the very good warranty instead

>>740919939
100% this, there is absolutely 0 reason to buy a brand new herman miller because a lot of companies never went back to work in office style of work and now there are literally warehouses and storage units full (I've seen them) of brand spanking new chairs they will sell you for 2-400 USD. In fact I knew a couple of people who were liquidating some offices and they were giving away chairs that had been used for 6-18 months away for free. So look around before you go and spend a shit ton of money.

>>
>>740919939
You can still snipe good deals but it takes time (which shouldn't be free). Used Aerons and Leaps have become a meme and the market is inflated which defeats the purpose. It's like retards paying 12k for a 30yo miata, the reason they're a track meme is because 15 years ago you could buy one for 3k it's not a special car you're a poser who doesn't get the meme if you overpay for one.

Cloth is the best material period, but it's rare and hard to find these days. After that is real leather followed by fake leather and at the very bottom in the depths of the sewer is mesh.

I know what you meant. The seat moves horizontally and you're complaining that you can't pull it until it hits the back of your knee. What I'm telling you is that you don't need it to hit the back of your knee, and depending on you like to seat you don't want it to (tall desk, knees below the hips like a stool). Unless you're atrophied or morbidly obese legs are cone shaped.

>>740921420
Definitely not >>740921470 what this dude said, unless you have a handheld steam cleaner at the ready to use if you get cum on your chair.
Something you could use a disinfectant wipe or something on would be the easiest, fastest cleanup.
>>
>>740921642
Have you tried just not cuming on the chair? This isn't hard, aim better. They aren't figures or jars. You don't need to cover them in jizz.
>>
>>740920959
What this >>740921641 nigga said.
From what I've heard you should have about 3 fingers to a hand's width between the back of your knee and the edge of your chair, and ideally your chair's edge should be rounded/slope downwards in the front as to not cut off circulation.
>>
>>740896682
>>740897424
Steelcase Leap is better.

t. bought both Aeron and a Leap.
>>
I have a $300 SIHOO chair and it's comfy as hell. I kneel to my Chink overlords. Glory to the CCP.
>>
>>740921693
You heard wrong, those are lies told to justify selling you less chair.
>>
>>740921641
Wrong. Dead wrong. You are a retard. Proper posture and circulation requires that there only be two finger widths of space between the edge of a chair and the back of your knee. Tons of extra space is very bad for you, and these chairs are utterly not built for anyone over 5'5".
>>
Herman Miller is absolutely worth it. I sat on Mirras for almost a decade at my job and finally caved in and bought my own, the chair is just uniquely suited to my spine. If you spend most waking hours at your desk like me you owe this to yourself
>>
>>740921682
Okay genius, where are you nutting then?
On yourself?
On a towel or into tissues?
Are you just leaving whatever medium you splooged all over just out there, or are you handling it while touching your keyboard and mouse/phone and going about your day eating and drinking with trace amounts of sperm on your hands?
Just leaving jizz napkins in your trash can so your room smells like nut gunk?
You use lube or oil? That's gonna drip down your shaft and balls onto your chair, that's just gravity, man. A towel helps, but it can soak through that. A plastic/rubber liner underneath it then?
Fact is that jacking off and sexual shit in general just gets fluids everywhere and you don't even realize it. If you don't shave your pubes and use lube/oil/whatever chances are your pubes are flinging little specks of the lube that is around your junk all over your desk and keyboard, use a flashlight when you're done to verify.

Nah, it's at least been true for me. I've had my legs fall asleep like, 5 times in the last 2 years following that advice. Compared to my shitass old mesh chair with a hard edge and a stiff cushion that pushed up on the lower back part of my thigh, which was at least once or twice a week.
And that's coming from a DYEL, God forbid you're a fat fuck, for sure getting some DVT in those legs then.

>>
>>740921094
yes, I need a chair with arm rests that stay up.
>>
>>740921989
The issue there was having a shitty mesh chair to begin with. Like no shit a meme chair designed for maximum profit ratio without regard to comfort would fuck you up.
>>
>>740922002
Or I can just not put disgusting ass cum tissues in my trash can, and not worry about handling them and then touching my kbm/phone that I use for the rest of the day.
I can guarantee most of you niggas don't even try to keep one hand clean jorkin' it anyway, so don't @ me. Honestly it's a miracle there aren't more people with STDs out there, all things considered with you nasty ass fags
>>
>>740922045
All mesh chairs are basically shit for that reason, however. An Aeron is just as uncomfortable as a $200 mesh chair for the same reasons.
For circulation and overall comfort something that doesn't have a hard plastic frame/stiff cushion at the front pushing up on the back of your lower thigh is necessary. A foam seat that's a bit stiffer in the back, and softer and slightly flexible in the front, with a couple inch gap between the back of your knee.

Pic related is my current chair and it's pretty good except it uses shitty fake leather that flakes off and gets everywhere, and I would really prefer if just the area inside the red border could be mesh for better airflow. If it had that and replaced all the fake leather with real leather it would be the perfect chair.
Does anyone know of a char like that?
>>
>>740922319
Why do you want leather to begin with
>>
>>740922108
>he says, as he keeps cumming on his chair
Bro....
>>
>>740922319
If it was real leather it would likely be more breathable than that fake leather trash.
Not as breathable as fabric or mesh, but still.
>>
>>740922379
More comfortable than mesh (even if mesh is better for airflow) and I can't do fabric because I have dry ass skin and sometimes I sit like L in my chair so my feet tear up fabric like a cat scratching post.
>>
>>740921770
If you think that the distance between the back of your knee and the edge of the chair is so important to circulation. Then you would just use a standing desk and never sit at all. Because sitting is much more unhealthy for you and for your circulation than the distance of the edge of a chair is to your leg.
>>
>>740922391
Nope, I've already explained the pitfalls and you confirmed you're a nasty ass nigga who keeps nut napkins in his room
>j-just take the trash out

>>
>>740922319
That's retarded, you're retarded. Anyway, that shitty chair you posted is the cheapest slop on amazon, China makes probably a billion of these a year. They won't make one with actual leather, look for old used executive chairs.

Leather is not magic, and it will wear the fuck out. In terms of wear resistance, mesh is number one, because it's harder than your clothes and will eat through them first.
>>
>>740922534
No, I already said both are bad for different reasons. Sorry you're too dumb to read, nut napkin nigga

You're paying for the brand. Also there are other reasons to not buy that chair like the plastic part of the seat digging into your thighs if you dare to even manspread. Contrary to what a few anons ITT are saying but that seat isn't going to improve anything that any other competent office chair equivalents can, and if you actually care about your health you would be eating healthy and exercising frequently which makes much more of a difference than a 2000 dollar chair.

>>740923215
I have a different chair by the same company. Pic related.
>foam instead of mesh
>no possibly of your thigh coming into contact with hard plastic when sitting down
>armrest can be raised to allow closer desk position
>can be folded under a desk when not in use or during VR sessions
Probably the only chair with this gimmick which is really nice. No reclining is a shame but I have a couch and bed to really relax on so it's not an issue.

You fell for paid shilling. "Gamer chairs" are the exact same thing and shills banked on you being ashamed of your hobby to sell you overpriced office shit. Ergonomics is a joke and there's nothing real or scientific about a Miller chair no matter what it claims to do for your back, and you're not meant to be playing games for 12 hours anyway. It doesn't matter what you sit on if you get up and move around regularly like you SHOULD. If you're really that scared that people will see that your chair has the word "gamer", on it, buy the cheapest chair that rotates and can adjust height that you can and just don't be a retard. >>

I got something similar a decent ergonomic chair shipped from Melbourne. It has lasted me for years.
All you really need is for the side arm guards to be adjustable and lower than your adjustable desk to slip in.
I can rest my arms and hover over my key board even with my back straight.
When I game I lower my chair all the way so the arm guards slip under the table. Besides that having 990 Beyerdynamics the only thing that could use a huge improvement would be a better dac / usb soundblaster or something better if anyone knows

Just tell them the truth. Office chairs are not made to be disassembled once assembled, the gas canister for example slots into the chair legs with pressure and is impossible to get back out by design. You cannot try a chair without fully assembling it, so not being able to take it apart is a design flaw, not your fault. They have to take it, otherwise they are breaking their own return terms agreement. And the chair is not a perishable like a printer cartridge or a fucking sandwich.

it's a fucking chair. it's not rocket science. it's plastic and some metal. you could buy all the production machinery and make your own for a lot less than that. therefore the value is inflated.

why not?
though it's easier to use the chair from an actual car in this case. and a lot cheaper than shitty gamer sim chairs that don't cost a 20th of the asking price.
they used to teach how to make chairs in schools in the past. forgotten knowledge apparently.
>>
>>740927147
Ergo chairs that cost $1000+ typically have many adjustments, not just the basic chair height. The adjustments are what makes it more expensive than a $300 chair. How far it pushes against your lumbar, the seat depth, the tilt resistance, the tilt distance, the armpad height & depth, the headrest height & depth, and more expensive chairs have even more dials and knobs. These dials and knobs each perform some mechanical function, and must support the weight of a human for 10-20 years.

anyone else's leap v2 wobble slightly when shifting weight
is it just that im a fatass and im overcoming the stability of the cylinder and i should stop trying to replicate the wobble because im just giving it undue wear in my autism of trying to understand why it is wobbling slightly
>>

or... get this... you just make the chair with proper dimensions for yourself, because it's your chair, without all the unnecessary "complexities" that the marketing department spins into "premium features".

I've been eying them for a while, I want some grippy leather with a million boomer farts and cumstains on it. As you said they're popular and cheap. The alternative are SteelCase Please which are also popular in leather in my region, and similarly priced if not cheaper.

Muh lumbar support is a wedge in your back that gives you an anterior pelvic tilt. My 12yo truck seat was better than this piece of shit.

Memed.

I got memed into buying an expensive ergonomic chair too. After of month of "getting used to it" my back was in so much pain I even had problems sleeping. Gave it away for free.

I think at this point it could only be ayylmaos like the predator. The crocs would have to evolve into full on dark souls mimics and that just ain't happening

I have this same chair. I actually got it after RETURNING my Aeron because the Aeron was giving me unbelivable nerve pain after two weeks of sitting. I can highly recommend Kinnarps. This has way more adjustements than Aeron which has practically nothing and is actually comfortable for sitting 12h per day

>is haworth zody leap tier?
It's one tier under a Leap. I have the classic Haworth Zody and while it's good, I wish the backrest was slightly more flexible. All the levers and knobs take a bit more getting used to than the Leap, but once you learn how to use them they actually give you better customizability for the chair than you'd get with the Leap.

Most people only sit in a car for 4 hours a week but for the last 10 years every shitbox has had better seats than whatever multi-thousand dollar memechair you people fap over.

How did we let ourselves get jewed so hard.
>>
>>740935675
You say that like cars aren't just as stupid overpriced while also being far more unreliable and more expensive to keep running these days.

Also, if you're looking to replace the seat in your car for whatever reason don't expect it to be cheap. You might find yourself paying multi-thousand dollars for that too.

Car seats are huge, heavy, and just as expensive as premium office chairs If not more. Plus theyre designed to be laid back in not office work. Not to mention how tf are you gonna convert it to an office chair? Just leave it on the ground on some cinderblocks? Come on nigga.

>are these expensive ergonomic chars any good for leaning back and having your feet on your desk
Yes
>or are they designed so that you have to be upright with feet on the floor to be comfortable?
Wouldn't it be nice? Such a chair doesn't exist no matter how hard manufacturers try to pretend. If you're upright there's no horizontal force on your back so there's not much that a chair can do. If you're upright it doesn't matter if you sit on a Capisco, an Aeron, a toilet seat or a bucket turned upside down.

The ideal posture with these, the one that will make you feel truly ergonomic, is with approximately 15deg lean back, arms relaxed on the armrests and feet on the ground, something in-between the two you described. Notice how this doesn't match the "correct posture".

>Only obese retards with fucked backs need a headrest
This guy is extremely poor, fox & the grapes cope. I don't "need" a head rest but I like having it when I put my legs on the table, or my gf straddles me to get my attention or when I put my arms behind my head. You give yourself away by talking. Next you're going to say you don't "need" a remote start for cars or you don't "need" an elevator. Enjoy your cheap stool. What a retard.
>>
>>740921420
>So what chair material is best for gooning?
Mesh, so you can spray it down with soap and water outside, without fear of mold bacteria getting absorbed into foam or leather.
>>
>>740923532
What makes the Harmen Miller good, is that the arm rests fold away, giving you more room to stretch your thigs, legs, arms, back. Sometimes, I sit on my chair side ways with the back rest on my left or right arm, leaning back. That ability to change sitting styles is what makes it good. Folding arm rests should be mandatory on all chairs.

I know that we have this thread routinely but what happens when refurbished Steelcase Leaps run out of stock unironically? There's only so many produced over time and everyone needs a reliable task chair eventually.
