>"and when I say nostalgically beloved, I mean it"
>"it is nostalgia"
>"people who played this game as a kid think it's the greatest game ever made and nobody else cares about it at all"
Is this really true?
>>
No.
Hell, big game creators like Rockstar and FROMSOFT have stated OOT being their biggest inspiration for their 3D games, and that they appreciate the comparison, but don't think their games compare to the OG GOTYAY.

"Muh nostalgia!!" is a literal pseudo intellectuals' attempt to sound smart, while having no arguments nor insight on the matter.

I didn't play Ocarina of Time until the Wii era when I put virtual console wads on my SD card.
I thought it was great.

This is true of all video games. Video games are not capable of being timeless works of art like cinema or music or novels. They will always be transient things that are beloved by the children that grow up with them and nothing more.

To be honest, I liked Super Mario 64 more than this even growing up with with. I genuinely found OoT a bit boring and never finished it because I just didn't care to. I just accepted Zelda is one of the franchises I can't get into despite everyone else fawning over it constantly.

meant "growing up with it".

>the game with the worst camera on earth
>and some of the most bland and empty levels
>that makes you replay each level 6 times
>with some of the most nonsensical and frustrating physics
>where you accelerate like a van, turn like a boat, ricochet off walls like a bouncy ball, struggle to walk up a slight incline, and with literal invisible walls scattered throughout levels
>with a dozen different jump variants when all you want is a fucking camera that is actually looking where you're going instead of shoved up Mario's asshole
>is somehow better than arguably the best 3D Zelda of all time
Eat shit Mario 64tard

I played WW and TP before OOT. I could immediately tell that Ocarina was a league above them when I finally played it.

There are several video games that never go out of style because they have solid mechanics, much like classic board and card games.
Pac-Man is a prime example. In fact, my 9-year-old niece loves Pac-Man, the original arcade version. And she hardly plays anything other than smartphone or tablet games...
The Tetris Grandmaster series, especially starting with TGM2, consists of games that, if you gave them to someone from the year 3000 to play, they would get hooked, just as we still feel engaged with backgammon or chess centuries later they're invented.
And there are plenty of examples like those two.

The thing is, Zelda: Ocarina of Time isn't one of those games.

The only people who can't enjoy games they didn't happen to play as a kid are the same people who could not enjoy watching a movie or show that isn't from current year.
They're brain dead and want something to make small talk about more than they ever care about any other value to what they are consuming.

Literal and utter skill issue.

>muh OoT went out of style
>muh shitty arcade games that I totally play and care and am totally not being a performative fake interest fag about did not go out of style
The greatest minds in gaming at their creative peak firing on all cylinders, a tour de force of pacing, a masterclass in game design, a result of blood, sweat, and tears. A timeless masterpiece does not age. Your arcadeslop is not comparable. You come at the king, you best not miss. 99 Metacritic, best game of all time.

Sit the fuck down dog

woah thats deep man

No one alive today besides a few pseud-fags gives a shit about old novels and movies althoughbeit
Only cultural tales last, and only as long as their values resonate with their people

My brother who despises video games as a waste of time has only ever beaten 3 games

>donkey kong country
>mario land 2: 6 golden coins
>Ocarina of Time

If a scrooge like my brother could beat it thwre is something truly special about it

Ok, and? It's not like I give two fucks to the Mona Lisa. More people give a fuck about Pac-man than Mona Lisa. If your standard is "timeless work of art meme" and "how many people play it" you absolutely lost because by your standards, no one cares about any of your meme works either.
stFU ebert.

I grew up without Nintendo consoles and tried it for the first time around 2012 or so. I remember it being pretty good. Plan to get a new controller soon for emulation and heard that OoC even has its own modding scene.

my sister beat it too and she never finishes games.
she got almost to the end on the 3ds version too

I could not even be bothered to watch Nu-E3 this year and have serious thoughts of abandoning most gaming and playing emulators for the next 10+ years.

Oot really does just exist in an echo chamber online, hardly ever mentioned by anyone in real life.
>>
