Why does /v/ think Starfield flopped? It's even one of the best selling game of 2026 about three years later.
Nobody can stop Bethesda and Todd Howard.
>>
>>740905751
well it was a mediocre software at code level that had trouble finding a properly installed GPU (havn't seen this since win XP)
with an half baked patchwork of gameplay ideas that don't mesh together
in an empty uninteresting world with shit writing and shit quest lines

Pronounfield is considered a terrible joke by real gamers.
>>

consoomer feedback > sales
Besides, the game is awful and bethsoft knew this. They literally backed away from marketing because of starfield negative reception in 2023, there wont be any announcement of their future product release until you find the product itself in the store, like oblivion remake
>>
>>740905939
Why did you ask a question if you were going to dismiss any answer with a stock buzzphrase reply?
>>
>>740905751
Pronouns and other woke propaganda shoved into the game

Sales of main game vs the DLC?
>>
>>740905751
It had a lot of day one players jumping in blind and hoping for the best on nothing but BGS's reputation. But its reviews were so numerous and so poor that there's no way there weren't a huge number of refunds, which is worse than simply not selling well, because it means your game is actually shit and you can't pretend it was just a dud no one understood properly.
>>
flop nowadays just means game I don't like
>>
>>740906937
And yet it's still selling despite the supposed reputation damage over the years.

>BEST SELLING GAME!!!!
>8th place out of 10
>>
>>740907165
being in the top 10 best selling games is still considered best selling
>>
>>740907165
8th place out of 1000 games released that year
>>
>>740905751
Devil may cry 2 sold better than 3, reputational damage is a very real thing.
>>
>>740907280
True but Starfield defies all odds because it's been shit on by the press, youtubers and gamers alike and yet three years later it's one of the best selling games of 2026. How much more reputational damage does Bethesda need?

There are fewer than 4,000 people playing Starfield on Steam right now. There are over 25,000 playing Skyrim. There are almost 10,000 playing Fallout 4, and almost 4,000 playing Fallout New Vegas. A game that released less than three years ago, that's supposed to be the next big flagship, is less than a quarter as popular as a game that came out 14 years ago, is half as popular as one that came out ten years ago, and is roughly on par with a game that came out 15 years ago.

It's not getting that long tail of support. The dearth of content Starfield launched with is the same dearth of content it's going to fade into obscurity with, plus a moon rover.

poorfag platform
>>
>>740907758
So Starfield is just as popular as Fallout New vegas? Isnt that a good thing?
>>
>>740907758
Starfield received a massive update and overhaul a few months ago and they're working on year 3's content updates with 7 more years of content coming for it. Starfield will improve in playercounts over time as the game gets cheaper as it's been selling at full price for the past few years.

>What if skyrim was bigger and even more empty

I don't know man. I was initially interested in the ship building but everything else confirms the downward casualization of bethesda games.

FACKING PRONOUNS
>>
>>740905939
Zoomie response.
>>
>>740909745
Correct. This is also why BG3 flopped and wasn't widely celebrated at all. Because of pronouns. That's the reason.
>>
>>740909745
The pronouns dont even work in starfield, they havent fixed it either three years later.
>>
>>740907758
Don't forget it released an expansion two months ago.
>>
>>740905751
>look at my madeup numbers
Look at how few people started playing the game again whenever they released paid DLC.
>>
>>740905751
False. Todd Howard went on record saying the numbers were inflated. Look it up.
>>
>>740905751
I was stupid and bought it on ps5 thinking my bad first impression was due to playing it on a handheld pc with horrible stuttering and framerate. Turns out, it's just an extremely boring and unfun game. Everything about it screams mediocre. The ui is super uninteresting to look at, the locations all blend together because they look the same, the gear and upgrade system is boring, the skill system is garbage, the dialog is mind numbing. Literally every last bit of this game is mid at best. I can't name a single positive highlight from my time playing it.
>>
>>740907165
It's sort of insane that it's in 8th place out of ten, three years after release
