What happens to Steam if/when he leaves Valve?
As it is now, they're a privately held company, but it seems like he's the main one who wants it to stay that way.
>>
by the time we reach that point we'll have bigger things to worry about
>>

>seems like he's the main one who wants it to stay that way
Based on your extension knowledge of Gabe Newell's thoughts and plans for the future, and of the senior leadership of Valve?
>>
>>740918935
>gabe picks a successor that shares his vision
everything continues as normal
may the valve dynasty live eternally.
>he doesnt
buy enough HDD storage space for all of your steam games, download goldberg to rip the steam dependency, and back up EVERYTHING you own (including game servers for them) because we are fucked. honestly it wouldnt be a bad idea to do this right now, disaster often strikes when you cant prepare for it.
and then the second the new management does a even one anti consumer thing that makes the platform worse for users or devs, cash out your entire steam inventory on third party sites where the jews in charge wont be able to get a single cent of profit like they would on the community market
>>
>>740919458
I guarantee you if they went public, the first thing they'd do is charge for multiplayer like the console manufacturers do.
>>
im selling my account the day he leaves, it will instantly go to shit.
>>
The majority that keeps using the service will finally understand why the minority kept warning them about not actually owning games on it. There will be no last minute patch that removes the always online requirement.

>>740919458
>>gabe picks a successor that shares his vision
Fairy tale. Reality will efficient managers sacrificing everything they can grab on satanic altars in the name of shareholders. That Gabe managed to keep things working tolerably enough this long is essentially a miracle.
>download goldberg to rip the steam dependency
Sorry, but your always online OS will report you to your local LLM enforcer department.
>>
>>740918935
The current system is based almost entirely on being convenient and being somewhat trustworthy due to continuity and longevity bias. If the situation shifts enough that neither are true, then there might be a period of brief chaos as companies try to force their own lawnchairs again, but eventually gaymen will nucleate around storefronts without launchers, DRM or accountslop like GOG.
I don't think anyone is stupid enough to want late 2000s, early 2010s vidya distribution back.
>>
>>740919659
>warning them about not actually owning games on it
steam can force me to delete my games? how?
>>
>>740920551
Most of them require you to log in to continue working. Some old games just work after you install them and will continue working, but they're abandonware in most cases.
>>
>>740920643
goldberg.
>inb4 "NoOoOo THAT DOESNT COUNT!!!"
if steam was against it, they would've patched it out years ago.
additionally you can go weeks, sometimes even months, without having to log back in to deal with steam's DRM.

we'll lose some porn games

He essentially already did five years ago when he fucked off to New Zealand and decided to stay there during covid to buy yachts. I doubt anyone at Valve has seen him there in years.

This "news" came the same week Trump was said to drop the f bomb on Netanyahu. I don't believe it.

it's already shit faggot, fuck shills, mindless drones and bots.
>>
>>740920735
That probably counts but your "modern system" will eventually report you and you will get dragged away for offending flesh and blood Goldbergs. Or you will just get droned maybe. Depending on how far the dystopian future will go before humanity devolves back into cavemen.
>additionally you can go weeks, sometimes even months, without having to log back in to deal with steam's DRM.
And? You don't have control over it.
>>
>>740920932
oh ok you're just an epic shill.
dont you have a street to shit on?

>>740921000
The fuck is that mental gymnastics? I hate chicoms as much as corporate.

Do you think the media only lies for one week out of each month or something?

>Even microshaft respects your freedoms more than valve

LMFAO
This shit cannot be anything other than bait holy shit.
Yes, Valve is a fucking company that would sacrifice your life for its own survival, but you have to be high on crack to believe they're the worst out there.
There are no good guys, but all of the most pathetic subhuman scum are Jews. Fucking get gassed, Kike.
YOU LOST. THE ROTHSCHILDS ARE PEDOPHILE CANNIBAL ANIMALS.
>>
>>740919659
>Shareholders
Youre a very stupid man
>>
>>740920914
outdated image. the library is no longer in use, only the game now. and on top of that if you play a game while it use to be in use, it would just kick the guy off your library.

who makes this shit? sony fanboys?
>>
None of his sons work at Valve and even if one of them are interested in taking over it's too late and they will be influenced by those below Gabe.

Gaben will die eventually and after his death Steam will be sold to either a combination of Microshit, Tencent, NetEase, Saudi Arabia, Amazon or Timmy himself.

Steam will instantly go to shit despite the new owner's attempts to appease Steam users. Enshittification will happen in less than 6 months and Steam will literally die within a year and people will either pirate en masse again or split off in multiple launchers. GOG nignogs will try to become a thing but they'll be dead before Gaben dies for real.

>>740920810
Adult games should not be an issue. You can toggle out of advertisement for them and even make them private.
And you need ID verification to even access it on their store. That's not a platform issue or problem at all.
If a 14 year old faggot finds his way to the porn games, then his parents are the ones to blame, not the platform.
>>
>>740918935
>>740919458
i will probably just quit vidya and become one step closer to being terminally offline if that happens
>>
>>740918935
Robin Walker becomes acting director and business continues as normal
>>
>>740918935
Unironically, gamers all around the world would actually become anarchists if they lost all their fucking games. This is the hobby that keeps them from turning into actual fucking menaces to society like Brazilians are on their own country.
If you take away video games, you take away their pacifier. The WEF and WHO and Silicon valley are ALREADY talking about ways to protect their AI Datacenters from cheap drone attacks for fuck's sake.
They're already planning for it. They know what they're doing, the fucking filthy Jews. Gamers are more aware of Kikery than any other group on the internet. Gamers know Jews are not to be trusted or respected. They know Jews deserve to be fucking gassed.

So you tell me. What happens when Steam goes down? When it goes public? Tick tock, rabbi.
>>
>>740919515
They already charge for servers but it's the devs footing the bill.
>>
>>740920914
this has to be the dumbest post i've seen in a while
>steam family system
not only is it no longer in use, but its meant for FAMILIES. not sharing with whoever the fuck you want to
no shit its going to have restrictions that families wont often run into.
>requesting access from the game owner
>license restrictions
literally just the bare minimum to protect against theft.
>steam DRM
you're always going to have some form of DRM or anti-piracy from devs that arent just shitting out 'shovelware' 'games'.
steam's is just the bare minimum and is infinitely better than the alternatives
its that or you get a lot more devs that turn to aggressive always online DRM, or start digging up some of the bullshit from the physical era.
>lack of OS support
"NO YOU DONT GET IT STEAM JUST HAS TO SUPPORT MY OS FROM THE CAMRIAN EXPLOSION!"
>>
>>740918935
implying this extremely competent overweight man that we all rely on doesn't have a fall-back plan in case he dies of a sudden heart attack after eating too much cheeseburgers

The chances of everything staying the same are very slim. No company has ever remained unchanged after a CEO transition.
The best-case scenario is that Gabe chooses someone who shares his vision, and only relatively minor things change.
The worst-case scenario is that the new CEO caves to outside pressure and takes Valve public after being bribed by kikes with gorillion of dollars.
Let's be honest: Valve is one of the few major companies that still seems to genuinely care about its customers. That's precisely why so many people respect it, and why it makes other large public companies look bad by comparison. If Valve were to abandon that approach and become just another publicly traded corporation, there would be one less example showing that a different model can work.
>>
>>740920914
The paradigm of the data carrier being sacrosanct was roughly as old when Steam released as Steam's current age.
Software copyright is an 80s thing done to appease CIA plants like Bill Gates, and companies instantly started selling licenses instead of software even if they needed to finagle their way around first sale technicalities.
