I feel like new camp has no content in this game though unless you're interested in becoming a mage. I replayed Gothic 2 a lot but almost never touched G1 again due to its dogshit controls and I kinda forgot how little content there is outside of main story. Imo skinning is not worth it early game and you're better off investing into armor upgrade in 2nd chapter and rushing LP into maxing your primary stat at lvl 9/10. Exception being mages who are broken af and storm through first two chapters with a basic fire bolt rune, mages allow you to do w/e the fuck you want. Later on once you capped your str/dex and got weapon mastery you can unlock skinning because it's only worth it for late game monsters. You can get your recipe items from beasts like bloodflies without skinning as long as you find the random books teaching you to do so.
