There's about a billion little easter eggs too like the broom having a special move that pushes people back.
Why?
Because some dev said it would be funny so they stuffed it in the game. Same with cooking dropped food by shining sunlight on it with your sword.
Or grapple catapulting yourself up trees
Or some random sidequest leading you to the most useful item in the game for finding secret shit (pirate hat)
There's pretty much zero chance anyone could find all this shit on their own. It would take thousands of hours and you'll either hate or love that part of it.

I've been watching my friends play this on-and-off since it released and they're basically doing the exact. same. shit. that they've been doing since day 1, for dozens of hours. The only things that change are the color of the bandits (one of them is currently fighting green bandits, another is fighting red bandits), the environment, and occasionally their armor. Occasionally I'll see a new tutorial pop up with some absurd number like #827. They talk about doing quests, but at the same time they seem keenly aware that none of the quests (or the story, for that matter) are actually of any consequence. They just putter from short-term goal to short-term goal.

I personally have no interest in playing it because I prefer tight, well-designed games. I'd rather play a Shadow of the Colossus or a Hotline Miami than a game with infinite strands of individual spaghetti thrown at a monolithic wall. This is what Crimson Desert looks like from the outside. The only thing that seems really interesting is the combat system, yet it seems like it's only applied to two extremes of

It's basically a sandbox game with some puzzles thrown in and if that doesn't sound fun, then yeah it's not going to be. The story is so fucking out there there's really no point in trying to make sense of it. There's a few good areas and fights but also a lot of shitty ones. The game was clearly unfinished with all this really cool shit packed into unlocks and quest rewards along with faction research etc. but at no point do you actually get to really use any of it. Before you know it the story is over and most the enemies are now piss easy to kill.

There's actually some cool enemy variety but all the non-human enemies are either extremely rare or are going extinct right after you finish murdering them all. At one point you fight an entire faction of robot/bug people but end up killing them after the quest is over. Kinda lame.

This game is organically hundreds of hours long with way more to do than any other open world game. Most people don't even leave the first area for upwards of 100 hours. Most people will NEVER finish the story because it's such a big game.

If you don't like puzzles it's probably not for you since that's such a big part of why it's good, but your criticism so far just seems hasty and retarded for the most part.

My actual playtime is about 180 hours. It is sort of like Elden Ring I guess. If I had to compare it to another game maybe Breath of the Wild, but it's like the next generation ahead of that.

I'd consider chapters 1/2 the tutorial, the boss of chapter 2 is like the tutorial boss since he's doesn't have as many fancy tricks compared to other bosses
Personally I fucked off and went exploring in chapter 3 and that's where it got more fun and hooked me in.

For starters most people weren't playing like that, I'm a pro gamer. But the real reason is because of how it feels to play up there, it's really cool since if you fall off you have to get back up. There are some puzzle/platforming areas that will cause you to fall or sometimes you just fuck up and have to get back up there again. It's cool. The ambiance from the music, lighting, and sound effects is also good and all the filler areas like that really let you soak it in.

I LOVED the sky puzzles and I came into the game thinking I wouldn't like them much.

You have the possibility to build a hot air balloon. It takes a while to finish, some resources, then you can summon it as a special mount. It's slow as fuck, gives no apreciable tactical advantage, slow as fuck, very, very fragile, and SLOW AS FUCK. It only allows you to slowly appreciate the vista.

...so of course it's on a 1 IRL HOUR COOLDOWN. And it's not a bug, the devs still haven't patched it, it's a design philosophy. The slow as fuck weak as fuck fun balloon obviously needs a 1 hour irl cooldown, because otherwise you'd have "too much fun".

That's basically the entire philosophy of the game. One step forward, one step back. They have absolutely no vision. You have fun in spite of the game, in spite of the atrocious control, the nonsensical story, the puzzling mechanics, and the RDR horse dialogues.

It's like a massive offline MMORPG. The map is fucking massive and you can put 100's of hours into the game just exploring, doing quests, collecting gear, crafting, getting skill points, etc. That might sound fun to some people, but Crimson Desert does all of it in such a boring way. Obviously, you'd be in the minority considering A LOT of people apparently really like it. I don't know if you put much stock into reviews, but it has like 87,000 reviews on Steam with like an 88% positivity rating.

It's above NG in complexity and it kinda fails in that it doesn't tell you shit so you need to have a high IQ to figure things out on your own or you find guides online and then practice what you learn.

It doesn't play like an MMO at all and I'm not sure if another game has a similar combat system, it's pretty deep.

The combo tech is unique. You can play it like Souls or a Musou kind of but it's ideally meant to be played as an open ended and fast paced fighting game and in that regard it shits all over DMC because that game is about juggling casual enemies in most cases. Even regular players can get SSS ranks in DMC easy enough but in order to juggle enemies in CD you have to be a fucking god, it's a lot more demanding with tighter timings and harder controls to master and the enemy AI isn't made for them to stand around doing nothing.
I bet the combat designers are very good at video games since the polish at the high levels of play is pretty high but regular players will never see it.

I wouldn't compare Crimson Desert to Skyrim at all. Skyrim was actually really fun, had fun quests, fun mechanics, fun dungeons, etc. I could load up Skyrim right now, start a new game, and most likely put at least 50-60 hours into it compared to Crimson Desert which I am struggling to put even 10 hours into it.
