The best comparison of the gameplay is Seikiro, where you can dodge (perfect dodge if you time it right), block (parry if you time) it right and essentially you have to use said toolset to actively attack enemies (sometimes groups of them) all the while keeping yourself alive. Some people might not really enjoy the gift-giving mechanics of 2 or the campy time-travelling shenanigans of 3, but I think the former adds a lot of replayability to the game and the latter is done in a sufficiently tongue-in-cheek way that it offsets the setting shift. Dawn of Dreams is its own beast entirely, much more anime-inspired with the combat and character designs, and while I think it's the weak link among all 4 games, I'd say it's still worth at least a playthrough.>>740955389>How's the book compared to the movies?As much as I love Brando and Pacino's performances in the movies, I'd say the book is the definitive way to experience the story. Just getting more insight into what makes Vito tick is worth the price of admission alone, and Johnny Fontane's extended backstory is honestly pretty interesting. The only really big knock against the book is how much attention it gives to this subplot about Sonny's girlfriend needing an operation because Sonny's dick is too big.
