Turning Zelda into a physics sandbox was a terrible idea and goes against what people like about the series. The physics sandbox in BotW was in the service of the adventure so it made sense, in TotK the physics sandbox is the entire point. Its like if Valve turned Half Life 3 into Gmod and just said "but this is what you liked about HL2 durrr"

But I don't know why any of these webms never show Phantom Ganon. I'm replaying it and I usually avoid Gloom Hands spawns because Phantom Ganon battles are so dreadfully boring.

And then his drops are shit because his weapons damage you and I don't have any use for dark clumps. Only his bow has mild use, and that's after a LOT of shrines completed. Gloom Hands are an interesting enemy, Guardians were an interesting enemy, both had tension when they saw you. Phantom Ganon is just nothing.

I liked both BOTW and TOTK. The only thing that was bad was lack of variety for underground and sky islands. I would aslo change some of the character designs, especially the Rito. There are waaay too many furries in TOTK, and not pretty characters like Midna.

That Miyamoto's "A delayed game is eventually finished, a rushed game is bad forever" statement was completely delusional. 2-3 years is the optimal development period for a modern 3D game that doesn't have to literally invent 3D graphical design from first principles, 1-2 if you're using existing assets, 4 if you're feeling like a perfectionist, but 5-6 is just throwing good work after bad work, 7-8 means that you have officially thrown out more work than you are shipping in the finished product, anything beyond that is just money laundering or milking retards (hello Scam citizen).

The funny thing is I don't think they doubled down. They may have just released BotW as a placeholder with what they already had to hit the Switch launch, and gave the overall project a stay of execution because of how it performed.

They should have gone with that, instead of the Link with weird anatomy we got. The game distances itself enough from the usual gameplay that they could have played with the novelty of using a different design. They kinda did it by shilling the blue shirt, thinking of it.

I can't wait for the next new mainline entry considering how magnificent Totk turned out. They really outdid themselves going from Botw to Totk, first the chemistry system, then the zonai devices, I'm genuinely in awe wondering about how they could possibly top it. It's not very often we get such a highbrow game that effortlessly steamrolls midwits like that. Even among fans you find them going back to the predecessor.
