>remake comes out>suddenly you can no longer discuss game without it turning into original vs remake shitflinging>suddenly the beloved original which stood the test of time and cemented itself as an icon within its own franchise or gaming culture itself is reputationally trashed and shat upon by consumer cattle seeking to validate their purchase>lasting legacy of game is poisoned from being one of unity and shared fond experience to just endless spiteful shitflinging and divison>all for more $$$
It's not that deep bro
Don't play mainstream trash?
>>740938404>proves his point immediately
>>740938196>remake bad>pointless waste of time and effort>remake good>should have used talents to make new game in series>pointless waste of time and effort
>>740938196I dunno, I like it.
>>740938196It's true. I can't even blame publishers for it though because gamers enabled this situation by tripping over themselves to buy demakes. Bluepoint for instance would've happily continued to ruin Bloodborne if From didn't step in. Gamers couldn't get enough of their slop.
bump
>>740938404If you've played one metroidvania, survival crafter, roguelite, or RPG Maker game about depression, you've played 99.9% of what indieslop has to offer. It's no better than AAA.
>>740938196You're right, I've always said that a remake/remaster is a transaction where the developer liquidates the franchise's reputation and legacy for a quick and easy burst of cash. Because despite the dev's efforts, the time period and culture in which a game is released also has a big impact on how it's received and how the player experiences it, and a remake will never be able to have what the original had in that regard. There are rare exceptions to this however, one being the recent Gothic remaster. It's very well-done, being modernized in some ways but still jank in all of the ways that matter, and the new content they added feels like it could have been part of the original game
>>740938196You can ruin someone's day by keep posting the og version of your favorite game>>740943228And cardbattle slop
>>740938382Why are you on a discussion board for videogames if you don't want to engage with deeper ideas about them?
>>740938196just let em eat shit and play the good ones
>>740939817What do you like about it?
>>740943228>>740943663Due to the open and independent nature of the indie scene, there is a lot of slop and re-hashing, but that's a problem for AAA gaming as well. Being indie also allows for novel and fun experiences to be made. Some of the most critically acclaimed games of recent years are all indies which fit none of your descriptions>Pizza Tower>Cruelty Squad>Ultrakill>Deltarune>Mewgenics
>>740943228>>740943663You would know there are myriad genres available and objectively original games if you actually cared more about playing videos games vs. Bitching about them online.
i just can't wait for people to unironically say ocarina of time is outdated once the remake releases
Only browns ruin discussion
>discuss gaemJust play it instead. Not the remake tho, that sucks.
>it's another thread complaining about remakesJust play the original and quit trying to ruin good things for the rest of us/those who haven't played the original, you whiny crybaby nigger
>>740938196RIP Ocarina of Time
>>740944289why not just play the original?
>>740944289Remakes aren't good and you are getting a subpar experience beamed into your subpar brain leading to subpar discussion and analysis that the rest of us have to deal with. That's why you face resistance every step of the way, you are a low IQ foreign invader to every fanbase whose walls you bypass via the remaster plane flying you in under the cover of night
>>740938196All it is, is companies looking at their greatest successes and repeating them ultimately. It is embarrassingly lazy. But if the Remake isn't good, then what the hell was even the point in the first place.
>>740938196More like 50/50, sometimes they fuck the game and sometimes they improve it.
