so how's that game going?you are making a game... right anon?
No, I make the tools
Nah, game I want to make doesn't work in 2d or lowpoly and I have no interest in learning UE
>>740941709anon wants to make a four dimensional game, damn
No I code for work so I don't want to do it at home.
It's 99% making assets and coding and 1% actually using the engine. So no, I am not using it
>>740941672what?? SARRR! ! you are very much into to be using the unreal engine 5s, ,!!
>>740941516why even bother doing it when I can just daydream about it
put on hold manthe amount of shit you need to make art assets is just fucking retardedthe coding is fucking easy, the logic is easymaking all of that fucking art, animations, sound, voices, is fucking cancer
>>740941516ye but I use GodotI dont know how these threads work, can I post a link to my YT dev log or is that spam/advertising?
>>740941904Really? The artistic stuff for me is challenging but doable, just tedious. On the other hand logic of coding doesn't come naturally to me and I struggle with it and spend a lot of time just staring at the monitor stumped and wondering the best way to get a mechanic into the game
>>740941856>all those years you've been daydreaming could have been spent learning code
>>740941516I'd even use gamemaker over this piece of trash.Did people forget the CEO wanted to make developers who use unity pay them for download?
>>740941516alright ALRIGHT I'll go back into writing my rpg story in this tiny cellphone screen during lunch break on work
>>740944395let's not forget Unity requires a login when you launch it.fuck that noise
>>740941516yeah I'm taking a course on how to make 2d games. gonna learn how to make isometric assets soon and character portraits with their models. i'm really excited about the ideas I have but carving out time is my most important thing. I manage to get in at least twenty minutes to an hour everyday
>>740944745pro tip: the easiest way to make 2D assets is to make them in 3D and then use filters to turn them into images
>>740942267>logic of coding doesn't come naturally to me and I struggle with itYou have low iq
I really wanna make a turn based strategy. Or, really a turn based strategy MAKER, but I don't know shit about fuck in the first place so yeah. I know that pie in the sky dreams are what kills projects, but I'm unsure of where to start. Should I just pick an engine and try to make menus?
>>740941994Post it
>>740944816maybe but I like drawing. do you have some proof of the easiness of this process?
>>740945042>>740941994dropped this week's update todayhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whDMQstDWDwI'm trying to grow the channel but it's real slow, I'm having fun making the game though
>>740945418pro tip: if you hear something that might be interesting do research on it immediatelyif you're weak with google then game-devving is going to be real hard
>>740941516yeah but pic unrel
>>740941516>UnityImagine using jewish spyware to make a game.
>>740946562You mean a computer?
>>740941516Some day I will finish this and actually start on my game...
>>740941516I lose any and all motivation the microsecond I get whatever tools open
should i start my eroge project over my "proper" one? i'm idea-guys tier but suprisingly i feel more motivated by the former over the latter which i had in mind for years. should i stick with gamemaker or go with unity, especially if i (may) plan using spine?and the funny thing is, unless i slop it out, the eroge would take longer and more effort to make
>>740946874That's not "lack of motivation" that's "lack of knowing what to do"Look up a guide on the interface, then when you find the next thing you don't understand, study that.
>>740946805>You mean a computer? No he means Unity, it's literally jewish spyware.
>>740941516I'm the ideas guy
>>740941516I'm making several, and I use Phaser not Unity anymore. God bless Ai coding
>>740947008Just like IME. Unity is far from the largest of problems running on your PC.
>>740941516too much work I'll resume later
I start a lot of shit, get the groundwork done and then get bored actually making a game out of it, and have amassed quite a collection of projects. Got a couple months off work so I think I should at least attempt to get something playable but I really can't decide if any of this is worth it. From top to bottom we have:>first person narrative driven collective farm builder that came to me in a fever dream>knockoff Baldurs Gate engine that I have an interesting but insubstantial story for>Paradox style game set in cold war Africa that needs a better combat system to be any fun>battlefield 2142 but I dropped it after 6 wasn't shit>street racing and tuning like the original classic Activision shovelware, handling was bad and someone else was already well along their version>literally Vic2.5, dropped when Vic3 got decent enough and recycled into Mobutu>Mass Effect/Uncharted hybrid where you're a lady gestapo for a Bourbon France inspired space empire and bringing your top of the line power armor on a mission is a tactical decision (another fever dream game)>imagine if Warband was in the Fallout 2 engine and it was the wild west
>>740945964i did but the process seems far more tedious than just creating 2d assets which is why I asked if you had anything to show that Google did not
>>740947741You sure you get bored or you actually reach the end of your abilities?Learn bitch, stop taking comfort with the things you already know
>>7409477683D has reiteration, 2D doesn't. In 3D the same building can be used to make another one, without starting from scratch.
>>740941516yeah, claude's currently at it
>>740941516im seriously considering dropping rpgmaker and switching to 2d unity. Its just so limiting with its map instances and grid system
>>740947858i think it's just gonna come down to personal preference and skill since you can take the base portions of a building the walls, roof, door, etc mix and match them for a new house or just copy paste it
>>740948376>i thinkIf you ever wondered how it's possible that some artists post a 2006 drawing, and then a 2022 drawing, and there's zero improvement, there's the answer: people drawing conclusions without any research, thinking they know everything.Best of luck, you'll need it
>>740948469never said I knew everything and I don't believe in zero improvement for anyone of you're practicing daily. this conversation is coming down to two beliefs in how people create. have a good day anon and thank you creative pursuits always require luck
