Just beat it, they really fucked with armor and damage. I remember in the original every time you got an armor upgrade you felt unstoppable. In the remake you barely even feel the difference after the first armor you get. The best change is definitely the final boss though. Overall, it's pretty good. I hope they do a remake of 2. The crashing was kinda annoying but almost every crash seemed related to an NPC trying to move through an area like a crash every time a molerat went through a cave entrance. I had about 5 crashes in 40 hours.

It's better with the engine fixes mod but not good enough to prevent it when talking to NPCs (camera changes cause those small stutters). In terms of GPU optimization the game is actually not bad (gothic settings, native 3440x1440p runs at around 70 FPS which imo is good) but the CPU is bottlenecking my GPU like in all other dogshit UE5 games. Also using frame gen causes issues with performance as the GPU just doesn't achieve max power draw/usage. Only crashes I had happen AFTER I turn off the game lol.

By doing the default route of going to the old camp you're quickly pointed to two guys who can escort you to both new and swamp camps (assuming you've missed on giving Drax his hunting knife). Which leads to you meeting the guy in the swamp mentioning Cypher from new camp for 50 ore. You go to the new camp and you realise you can't access the tavern. If you again listen to the NPCs you find out you can walk to the new mine which is guarded by few weak ass enemies you can dispatch with a basic bow and gain free armor which grants you access to the tavern where you meet Cypher. If you, the player, listens you can make 1000 ore with minimal combat. This is not me following some guide or remembering wtf I did 20 years ago. This game massively filters both the nu-gaming retards who feel lost without a big flashing GPS showing them where to go next and the OG boomers who are dogshit at adapting to harder combat and I love it

What difficulty to play on?Anyone playing on hard that can tell me how oppressive economy and leveling are when the resource and progression slider are on hard?Is "Gothic" really the classic experience or did they casualize it?I don't want the game to be a cakewalk but I hate bullshit economy like in Stalker Misery where you get nothing from quests, nothing from looting and if you explore you sometimes get more nothing if you're lucky.

Even other post apocalyptic worlds can feel comfy in certain ways and gothic 1 is basically a prison colony with a ticking time bomb but you still had bros and felt comfy. Tainted grails world was just so depressing for some reason. Like everything is about how the world has fallen to ruin and there is nothing to hope for a better future.
