Speak for yourself I love it. It's great for making concept material so I don't have to waste time with my actual art skills. Then once I have a cool picture or video, I can get to work making the real thing. Just like a shitty cray computer that takes up a whole office floor, the technology needs to be developed, and then a better technology with the old technology in mind gets made. People like you would have had to stop at the fucking pager or PDA. Yes corporations misuse it to do all the things you listed, but they've done worse and nobody has stopped them. Except Luigi but nobody was his Mario.

AI slop looks like shit. Devs ONLY use it because it’s cheap and easy. So why would anyone praise that? It’s not like it makes the game cheaper

It’s the same as praising Indian coders, they’re only a “good thing” to the cheap cunts paying them. It doesn’t improve the product

I don't support AI whatsoever but I draw a clear distinction between outright AI slop and something that just involved AI at some point of production. People are too fucking kneejerk about the latter and it makes the anti-AI stance seem unhinged.

It most likely will be down to heavily specialized models that can do the job better than artists.
The tech is shit now because they're trying to make a super model that does everything.
But with improvements in training models in real time an all that, shit will be cash.

Mocap will get shot dead, by tech that actually simulate the motion in realtime and deliver specific realistic animations for the current game situation for example.
>>
>>740989184
assuming of course the technology isn't outlawed outright as a direct consequence of the bonds market and stock market both collapsing after all of the world's retards and wealthy decided to hedge their bets on LLMs as the key to infinite profit forever, because they all played final fantasy 7 and thought "the promised land" was real and they just had to pollute enough to get to it

As in literally AI datacenters are enormous pollution vectors. There's no metaphor going on here. Did you not know that?
>>
>>740981229
Why would you need an AI to make only 1% of a game? What's stopping you from doing that part yourself?
>>
>>740989548
I don't know if either of us would be able to opt out of services, technologies, purchases, etc, that contribute to enormous pollution and cruelty. Maybe it would be better if it didn't exist but it won't go away if I don't use it.
>>
>>740989685
Those guys torching job-sites and warehouses where datacenters are slated to be built are doing a pretty good job of it. Indiana had a bunch of bullet-holes and bricks through windows after a governor or a mayor or something tried to force all the red tape away from a datacenter being built that nobody wanted there.
>>
>>740989890
Can you torch the Olympics next? That's some gay shit.
>>
>>740989371
I think it will be just the applecommodore shit all over again and people will just do it locally, with specialized chips.
The super computer mainframe IBM nightmare always gets ditched for hardware you own.
That could happen naturally, or some really strict rules on AI datacenters will kill it.
>>
>>740989890
a pretty good job of eliminating all massive pollution causing industries and all industries reliant on extreme cruelty? Could easily be worth it though if data centres are super harmful to health outcomes in the immediate surroundings.
>>
>>740990065
Doing it locally is pretty much mandatorily going to need extensive amounts of RAM and processing power, so not really any different than current requirements. At best I think you'd be looking at more specialized AI cards than even what Nvidia currently pumps out. And even THEN I think that's making the heavy assumption that there's even a market for it outside of some very specific AI-bros and the aforementioned datacenters. AI's gearing up to go through a hellacious crash even worse than the Dot Com bubble, so bad it'll probably take the current US economy with it just by association, but hey you'll be able to pick through the ashes and get a lot of RAM for cheap.

I can't really see a future for LLMs, personally. We're so outside of the intended linguistic scope for these things as it is that it's a miracle it's being nigger-rigged into doing much of anything else at all. The rapid advancement of them associated with exciting new tech already plateaued a couple years ago and LLM advancement currently consists of "it gets confused less," with it being pretty wishy-washy even on that. I'm pretty sure we're already there. Many major devs have revealed that they use AI in creating their games. Major Hollywood films have been released that used AI instead of traditional CGI. I'm sure the music industry is already using it regularly too. I'm started to notice more and more ads are clearly just AI generated. The other day I had to do some government work training shit and the entire thing was generated by AI. AI is a regular part of life TODAY and that is unlikely to change in the future.

Its such a fucking dead end piece of technology that I'm shocked we've made it this far with how much has been invested in it. The only thing it does is homogenise content and make your shit look cheap as fuck, which is always actively detrimental towards how the consumer sees your product. One of the biggest issues is scammers using generative AI for everything now so people have this connection to scams with AI content in their brains. Thats not even touching on the fact that it just gets shit wrong like 70% of the time, completely undoing any hopes of actually automating anything.

Reading the model, but it's because it caches shit if you haven't got quite enough VRAM and RAM. The thing of it is it may be doing that and you don't even notice because it's when it's changing models during the WAN processing, so it's not like your performance is noticeably slow. You just have to watch your hard drive like a hawk because otherwise you can tear through a TB+ in a day of fucking around with it which is completely obscene, but if you get a smaller gguf of it (Or get more VRAM or RAM) you're fine, but it's definitely not a case of "Well it works and prompt goes in and video comes out so it's fine" since there's a point where it does that while it's raping your machine. Q4KM was what it took for my 12gb VRAM and 32gb RAM system to not fuck the SSD, but that was also in ComfyUI so maybe things are different if you use something else

I've only ever noticed that for video generation though so if you do other AI shit you shouldn't really need to worry. Unless you use one of the Forge forks for image gen, in which case it WILL make duplicates of every single image you make in your temp folder on C and never delete it

Let's do a little experiment; someone give me an idea for a vidya protagonist and I'll feed it into an AI and post what I get.

This. And with how much buck broken everyone is getting about AI and constant paranoia and anger about it, all the game devs are just gonna try and hide it even better in future games and people just have to speculate if they actually did use AI or not and AI is gonna get better and better, it will be impossible to tell if it was used or not. There still was a chance that game devs and other who use AI to make them admit of using it and disclosing it on Steam store pages but because of anti-AI crazies harassing those people too, future game devs are just not gonna mention of using AI at all. Just look how much hate Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 devs got even though they did admit of using AI which wasn't that much AI use but it was still enough to cause shit tons of anger and hate towards them. All the future devs are gonna hide it from now on.

I mean, all of those have been true in certain ways.
>Bitcoin is a bubble
How many cyrpto curriences popped up overnight only to end up as rugpulls just as soon?
>trust the plan Qbros!
Seems like every other day for the past few weeks has had promising developments like DoJ being instructed to look into immigration lawyers, or the VP making his own little team to handle the rampant fraud.
>vaxxies will die en masse
More than a few people did suffer long term complications from vaccines.
>China is collapsing
They're not exactly in a great spot, but they have enough money and lack of morals to basically fake it.
>AI is just a phase and will crumble
Like bitcoin, how many AI startups ended up failing? My favorite one was that AI for coding that turned out to just be a bunch of jeets.

He didn't say crypto. He said bitcoin. You could have at least pointed out in the last 10 months bitcoin is dropped to half its previous value.

Deflecting to some failed shitcoins doesn't mean Bitcoin as a whole popped. Still alive and strong.
Deflecting to some minor irrelevant details doesn't change the fact Bidden "won "and got his presidency
Deflecting to some minor data won't change the fact that people accepted it. If people had died en masse there would have been revolts.
Deflecting to "they are faking it" doesn't change the fact they're still alive and kicking. Collapse means total collapse. It's imposible to fake.
Deflecting to some failed AI attents doesn't mean the whole thing is crumbling.

>>740994992
the reason bitcoin flopped is because they started to integrate it into a governmental module that would be requiring ID and shit: they said, nah we good. And hopped over to another crypto.

It also can create new drugs orders of magnitude faster than humans can. AI is so effective at making drugs that we are on the cusp of an antibiotic and antiviral revolution. Ten years from now dying from any viruses will be looked at the same way we look at dying from the common cold; it's so absurd it would only happen in someone immunocompromised and near death anyways.

There's no such thing as an "ai data center." Over 99% of computing power expended by data centers is used for video streaming. The remaining <% is all other internet traffic, including ai. Calling a data center an "ai data center" would be like calling a car a deer killing machine. Like yes, under very very rare circumstances it can do that, but the vast, vast majority of the time it doesn't and instead provides a useful service.

AI has made me start withholding information with malicious intent, since that seems to be the most destructive thing to do long-term. Instead of correcting mistakes, I let them pile until everything comes crashing down.

Remind yourself that it was shown to a room full of clueless boomer investors and higher management who unanimously decided it looks good, it's worth proudly showing, it's what gaming market need and will gobble up. And they are the exact type of people who rule the world now.

You've been fine with data centers since the mid 1990s but now that the news told you these basic pieces of infrastructure are bad you hate them. Do you also hate power plants and water treatment facilities too? What about roads, bridges, and street lights?
