He brought it over to my house, he started a multiplayer match (against bots, IIRC, don't think he was connected to the internet), and then I noticed that my PSP could join his match. We thought it wouldn't work, but lo and behold I could join his match through bluetooth and play a character on my PSP despite me not having the game. How did that work? Was his game being streamed to my PSP across bluetooth? Was the PSP powerful enough to accomodate to separate players and send the information to another device that quickly? Were there any other games that did this?

Even though it was just more of the same with a few new gameplay elements, I miss having a new GTA almost every year.
