They did some weird changes like giving the Makarov the highest damage per shot out of most if not all the pistols and making it not as inaccurate as in the old games.

Viper5+Skif's pistol - the best starting weapon
Fora 221 is surprisingly a solid option for the middle game
Dnipro isn't especially great, but you have no other not-a-meme option for the endgame
Shotguns sucks outside Saiga
GP37/Clusterfuck are good, but only for the middle game
Whip was good

Why did they get rid of the fn2000, sg550, an94 and the lr300

Anyway, I hope they add a nagant revolver.

the looked fine i dont remember anything particluarly bad modelwise.
they did fuck it with the tier system.
old game if you wanted to clear it with a basic ak it was fine.
stalker 2 the 416 and ak were drastically inferior to guns you would get later despite shooting the same bullets. the whole tier thing fucked it up.

The penetration stat being the deciding factor of gun progression is retarded, the super special ukie AK takes 1/3 of the rounds to kill a bloodsucker compared to a regular AK.
There is zero consistency between calibers and gun classes, always funnelling you into upgrading the same shit because not doing turns a 1 hit headshot into magdumping endless exoskeleton heads.

it is a good point though. these guns are clearly a "thing" in the stalker universe, so they should've been in this game as well. it's not our reality, it's a cool fictional reality where different guns became commonplace.

I really, really don't like the balance design and tier system in both firearms and armours in S2
>absolutely no point in upgrading any non-SEVA, helmet-less outfit with the arguable exception of Guardian of Freedom and Zircon Suit (if you happen to be swimming in cash)
>which is quite odd considering how many there are
>actually, most SEVA suits also kinda suck and only get semi-decent after upgrading them extensively (good luck with finding blueprints)
>but you better think twice about that because upgrading lineary increases the repair cost
>really, the only deciding factors in armour choice prior exos is max artifact slots/lead shielding, actual carry weight bonus, repair costs, and psi-protection
>and aesthetic I guess
>maybe also radiation protection once you get further north (fun fact, radiation effects are also tiered, so if you don't get your res high over the corresponding ionizing radiation tier, you get full effect anyway)
>to be honest, upgrades are a fucking mess throughout every piece of equipment, that'd require several posts just scraping the surface
>heavy suits are really weird, hardly even a physical-oriented upgrade to SEVAs while having disproportionately worse environmental resists and have no psi-protection despite having corresponding faction helmets
>it would actually turned around into "it's an okay balance since everything sucks" if there weren't genuinely good exceptions like the Corrundum Suit (you get for free in the main story), the SSP-100, SEVA-I or Falcon Suit
>or the busted preorder suits you can also get for free you P2W fag
And that's just from the top of my head. About armours

I always use mine whenever I play CoP, and the stalker 2 version is even better.
>>
>>741005996
Shit, I forgot about Merc Suit, my beloved
It can genuinely last for most of the game if you're a penny-pinching miser that does not want to go for Guardian of Freedom or Corrundum Suit once they're present
>carry weight bonus rivalling exos
>kinetic protection that's alright together with rad res and some of the best in both low and medium tier, rivalling even some SEVAs with a decent helmet/mask, fucking absurd
>the cheapest to repair and genereally the most cost-effective suit by a wide margin considering how adequate it is compared to others
>overhealing anomalies and mobility over protection is the name of the game even for dedicated SEVA suits anyway (unless you paid premium for upgrades and filled specific upgrade trees)
>just 3 art slots though
>>

I will collect all the shiny rocks, even though most of them are worthless to me and a lot of them are exact duplicates of each other but with a different flavor.

>>
I haven't played since v1.3, and the caliber balancing in it made no sense. Everything was the opposite of real life.

>5.56mm does less damage up close but has more range than 5.45mm
>9x18mm and 9.19mm do more damage and are heavier than 45acp
>The starting makarov does more damage than any pistol besides the revolver
>The revolver has a completely useless option to be rechambered for 12 gauge shells

Then of course there's the tier system that makes the HK460 and AK-74 weapons a joke.
>>
>>741011852
I just used the bottle for weight and stacked stamina and bullet resist
>>
>>741007641
OK cool but why does it still have an ejection port on the wrong side?
>>
>>741011852
I mostly played with a trainer that turned off carryweight and stamina for this reason. The game is much better when I'm not heading into town every 20 minutes to sell off loot. I only head in when I have to for a quest, then I get my big payday and upgrade my stuff as needed.

They are all really fucked up. They completely fucked up ammo/ballistics.
>shotguns
Absolutely shit unless you get Saiga. As in not even worth picking those useless shits.
>smgs
I've been running with just that russian one (not Bizon) and AP ammo. Highest cost efficiency and damage. It mogs the shit out of Viper (MP5) and Bizon.
>rifles
Most are useless shit, although M14 is my go-to.
>pistols
It is an abominable shame that we got 3 - Makarov, M1911, and USP. And USP is shit when compared to M1911 (Kora), even though they use same ammo type. Worse still, upgrades suck, and ammo conversion is non-existent.

Let me put it this way - weapons are very unpleasant to use in the game. They are also peashooters too (even if you use right ammo type). That is how bad it is. No grenade launchers except for underbarrel ones. RPG sucks donkey's ass.

And in general... not enough anomalies and artefacts. There are no artefacts that give maximum weight (unless you count Weird Water), or maximum electric resistance, or healing/regeneration, or stealth, or slightly buff your jumping height or reduce fall damage, no artefact that allows you to walk on water (would be very neat). Really kinda fucked up. Also, Monolith being enemies AGAIN? And spawning allover the Zone AGAIN? Its fucked up. Worse still, you cannot visit Pripyat before going to that Institute thing. I think its the worst shit to be honest - chunks of Zone locked up because LOL PLEASE PROGRESS STORY. If no Monolith in Pripyat, why keep it closed up?

Anyway, disappointed. Game has potential, but got diddled for unfathomable reasons. Like, is it really THAT hard to do ballistics somewhat right?

Also, i still have a bug where in Rostok, all of the bloodsuckers from the Zone spawn. The silver lining is that there are next to no suckers in the rest of the Zone.
>>
>>741014339

It's not the balance, which is really close to SoC, it's how they're locked to certain zones.
The Viper 5 being able to be acquiredat the Swamps but only useful if you get the 9x18 rechamber upgrade for example.

Clear Sky is kind of abysmal the first time you play it but top tier once you understand the intended game design.
It's still a mess though.
>>
>>741014680
Charging handle is irrelevant, a left side port makes it a left handed gun. It doesn't matter, it was just weird seeing old school design in a new game. Just don't come at me with "actually it's not an mp5" because that was a shit argument.
>>
>>741005996

I ended up using Duty's SEVA. Expensive, but not as expensive as it can get. I skipped on a chunk of anomaly resistance upgrades, so its just 100k-ish. I can manage that for repairs and whatnot.

>>
how come there are no good mods for stalker 2
>>
>>741015353
Guess it's throwback to the original games, which themselves had wepons based off FarCry 1 and Counter Strike.
Counter Strike itself was that way because the original creator, Minh Lee was a lefty, and mirroing the weapons to the right side didn't change the weapon model.

It's why the older CS games feel better when playing with the weapons on the left side, that's how it was originally designed and intended to play

>>741015627
Modding is still very limited, they said a Phase 2 with stronger mod tools was coming, but nothing has come from that yet.

You can't even change the colors of the shotgun shells based on the kind of ammo they're using (red for buckshot and blue for slugs, you can only change every shotgun shell to red, for example).

I never used it, and it is necessary to use in one of the endings of the game (free the Zone).
My issue is that there are no artefacts that are like it when it comes to healing, like with other artefacts and effects. It was a thing in ShoC - slime, mica, soul. And more on that, no artefacts that provide psy protection like in Clear Sky or CoP.

In SoC and CoP, late-game weapons are superior in virtually every way to mid-game and starter guns stat-wise. Once you get, say, Obokan and SPSA, there is zero benefit to use AK and Chaser, you'll just handicap yourself for no reason. Attachments and unique guns rectifiy the situation somewhat, but in general, earlier guns become obsolete very quickly
In CS, while late-game gear is still generally superior, basic guns possess qualities that make them a viable option at least or a genuine sidegrade at most when compared to more expensive weapons
Exhibit A, Fort -is- better than PM in raw stats, but the latter is almost twice as cheap to upgrade and maintain (in the only Stalker game where economy actually matters), has the best weight upgrade among pistols, and can be converted into 9x19 by any techinician, meaning you can get a lightweight mid-tier pistol without leaving the Swamp
Exhibit B, it now actually makes sense to carry a sawn-off shotgun as a backup since, in addition to its low weight, it now deals -more- damage than any other shotgun if every pellet connects - as opposed to SoC and CoP, where it's the weakest shotgun in the game
Other guns follow the same pattern - no gun is outclassed -completely-, there is always something that makes it stand out
Availability is also important like the other anon >>741014923 said. In CoP, you can get any gun you want without leaving the first area. In SoC, you get the best assault rifles by simply progressing the plot, while shotguns and sniper rifles are basically not an option until X16
Clear Sky gives you weapons much more sparingly but also in more rewarding way, locking more expensive options behind side quests, faction wars progression, trader reputation and exploration
>>
>>741022027
One thing about CS is that if you sweat it through with Bandits, you get G36 and Bulldog grenade launcher as rewards, AND you get to fully upgrade a SEVA suit.

>>741008726
>>741022027
Handguns are a separate topic. SoC and CoP pistols, including unique and upgraded variants, are virtually useless - they are just worse than every assault rifle or even the base MP5 in every way, and their weight and ability to fit into backup slot is non-factor since you'll be better off by just not carrying them
In Clear Sky, their damage and accuracy are buffed massively, the "zoom-in" aiming is much less obtrusive and more suitable for CQB than ADS while still letting you to minimise the spread instantly, and there is the entirety of Garbage section where pistols become your main and only armament (sadly, GSC pussied out and patched it out later so flea market storyline makes no sense anymore, but the original intent is still there), so an entire weapon class has purpose now

theyre boring and silly in balance
After playing Project SIlverfish, im not remotely fond of the arsenal in any of the stalker games anymore. if theres one department where that game mogs stalker, its the player gear and progression
>>
>>741024681
This game actually made me feel like i grew my dream arsenal over time
>plasma pistol, alongside two 1000/1000 eather cells
>the improved coil gun being basically the gauss rifle but way cooler
>a simple slow firing scoped cobra rifle, with its abysmal firerate completely evened out by the fact im carrying 94342 incendiary bullets, while i get to reap the muzzle velocity/accuracy/nonexistent recoil as benefits
>60mm rockets with two artifacts for more radius
If they ever make the cultists more fleshed out i want a playthrough with the enchanted weapons, they seem sick.( I only used the Vortex Rifle with Tandem Rounds which was hilarious because you could make extremely powerful black holes and literally fly around as youre pulled)

Also they really need to make the eather weapons less shit. Plasma Pistol is busted and every other energy weapon feels like trash, other than the MAW which is a crazy monster dont even think you can get without cheating. The Trident in particular should have been strong instead of basically a worse plasma pistol.

It still doesn't quite compare to Corundum Suit, which you can get quite early on, almost immediately after SIRCAA, for free. Or if you're already going to Rostok to grab SEVA-D from the stash, you could just continue just a bit further to grab free, already upgraded SEVA-I in Yantar
Most of the SEVA suits are just kind of there, as a stop gap, which is quite clashing considering the prominence of SEVA and SSP suits in previous games with their absolutely top-tier environmental protection and, dependant on the game, having arguably the most utility and being the ultimate "universal" armour when venturing into the Zone
The one thing fun is that the Freedom SEVA-V has such good radiation protection that when it's fully upgraded it allows you to cross some of the radiation soft-killzones

Not really
In SoC, SEVA is immediately outclassed by SSP-99M, which you can get for free at the same time as the SEVA becomes available for purchase
In CS, you can't get SSP suits anymore and SEVA is decent but gunfire protection got worse and upgrading it requires siding with Bandits, so CS assault armor remains a better option
In CoP SEVA got gutted completely and is basically a hindrance serving to make Pripyat tunnels harder, and again, no scientist suits
You can't deny the cool factor though
>>
>>741028237
>SoC
SSP-99M is only marginally better than SEVA and is only sold by Sakharov, while SEVA and its Duty version are much more readily available as well as having better durability
>CS
Yeah, being able to upgrade it fully only through sparing/siding wtih Bandits is royally fucked. But it's still the best generalist and the only suit with 5 artifact slots
>CoP
I have to concede, it sucks in CoP
Anyway, everything sucks compared to exo in CoP

oh yeah they're shit and poorly implemented, just like most aspects of the game
balance is ass, with some starter 5.56 guns being somehow worse than a 5.45 ukrainian tavor clone

What the problem on the video? You break the animation right before loading the cartridge into the chamber, so the weapon is still unloaded
>>
>>741030868
>You break the animation
the reload is technically complete but the game only registers it when the animation is done. They only added tiered reloads a year into release, and have yet to fix and reimplement hundreds of features that ShoC (almost 20 year old game) already had

They don't want you to know this but you can use more than one gun in a play through

I want stick with only one or two guns per playthrough to get the most out of them.
>>
>>741033314
>one or two guns per playthrough to get the most out of them.
you can't because the balancing around damage and weapon maintenance is retarded. a 9x19mm buket SMG performs better late-game than a fully kitted 5.45 AK or 5.56 HK416. it makes no sense because the weapons and gunplay/combat, like 95% of stalker 2, are fundamentally retarded
>>
>>741032243
Yes and no, they replicated the cfg logic that was in the original trilogy, but because it's UE5, editing them might be tricky. SDK with those source files has a size of 700gb(it compiles the mods), I guess you can edit them with the Flver tool without sdk, but I heard at some update they converted cfg files to binary for quicker loading
>>
>>741019618
I have like 30 bullets total for the gauss rifle and not that much 9x39mm. Like I said, a single engagement with a monolith squad would wipe out my ammo and there would be 50 more monolith around the next corner
>>
>>741031927
How do you guys get money for those toys? I was a millionaire collector on normal playthrough, but the economy on hard forces you to reconsider things. You're like an accountant calculating how much each shot+gun repar costs, and anything that isn't 5.56 hurts your pocket

Okay then he's a dumbfuck that can't read. I was asking about the real games (SoC, CS, CoP) since I haven;t played them in ten years but I'm pretty sure most guns don't one hit an exo even with a head shot
