what's the best intro in jrpgs history?
>>740995123You posted it. The reactor bombing mission and a week in Twilight Town are also pretty top tier.
>>740995123On top of my head it's CT. Sure it's kinda overrated as a whole these days, but the intro still has the best combo of memorable moments + hype and heroic music.KH1/2 fits the bill as well.
FF7
I like Lufia 1 intro because you start the game already fighting and beating the final bosses. Like SotN.
>>74099512311/10 The fact that it's from the era of terrible dubs gives it extra points.
>>740995123No such thing. JRPGs are for faggots
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RLf0O8eofUahow was 90s square so good?
Xenoblade's opening was pure kino.
>>740996216An opening is supposed to feed you with moments that can be expected from the game, not gibberish bullshit.I can acknowledge the ambition but that's not a good intro at all.The same way I don't qualify FF7 as having a good intro, unless we are talking about the opening mission which I don't consider as what OP is talking about
>>740996523>An opening is supposed to feed you with moments that can be expected from the game, not gibberish bullshit.Jeet, your IQ is showing. Go back to shilling your E33.
>>740996621This is why you Xenogearsfags are insufferable. Cannot argue and devolve into schizobabble, like I don't even care or want to defend a QTEslop like E33.Also using IQ as an insult when talking about intros. A fookin intro.
>>740996523it's great because you watch the intro and it's scifi kino but then you start playing and it seems completely unrelated, but then you play for another 40 hours and realize the significance.
>>740995123https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLk3XdMNENgThis intro makes you expect some kind of star trek/wars shit
>>740995123certainly not ugly robots walking somewhere
>>740995123FF8 and FF10
>>740995123https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfQU9WbWjpg
>>740995123
>>740996148"best" is a relative term, so there always is one within the given parameters. You are illiterate, likely due to an issue with skin pigmentation. My condolences.
>>740997536Came here for this
https://youtu.be/x02N6FNan_Q?t=29I was always a fan of this one
>>740995123E33
>>740995123https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3SA9LuqQgATales of Phantasia SNES.They actually did a fully vocalized intro complete with singing, on an SNES.Fucking miracle of technology.
I like the SMT1 intro a lot for how little it needs to set the mood.
>>740995123Yeah that might be it. Was really hyped for the game after that but it was all downhill from there
FF8 and FF10 however E33 is the current holder of the best JRPG opening.
>>740995123Dragon Quest VII (PS1)No intro have ever gotten me more invested and intrigued in a game world than that one.
>>740995123Legend of Dragoon
>>740996523It's not gibberish, everything there is crucial to the story. I know, Evangelion uses technobabble, but Evangelion isn't every japanese work.
>>740995123That's not even close to the best intro in FF.
>>740995123>A ghost luring an old drinking buddy who turned into a whale to destroy a city with booze to a metal soundtrackFFX intro was wild
>>740996523FF7 intro gives you a good view of Midgard and the initial conflict of a digesting city environment as well as aerith interacting with some magical force
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJWZlqLxiLgI just think it's neat.
Depends on what you mean by intro. If you mean opening movie before the title screen, nothing beats Tales of Vesperia, god tier intro. If you mean the first hour or so of gameplay, then I say Xenoblade. The Dunban war sequence is cool, and the opening afterwards with Shulk/Fiora/Reyn is peak comfy. Then the plot kicks in and hits you like a ton of bricks.
E33 in Lumiere if it counts as "JRPG".Otherwise >>741007129. Still total hype 25 years later.
>>741008975Fuck off frenchie
>>740995123Grandia 1 was never matched again in its style. also it could have been a nintendo exclusive or a disney movie.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze7FPcxpQvIstill prefer the ff6 intro tho.
>>740995985I don't want or need a Xenogears remake but I'd love for a perfect 1:1 remake of that intro because its in such a piss small resolution. The whole thing is pure kino and needs no changes outside a higher resolution and better color depth.
>>740995123FF6's opening may have been neat at the time, but... really, what's going on. Three pixelated mechs are walking on a pixelated Mode 7 map while music plays and the credits roll. It's cinematic by the standards of the day, but it's also really boring.
>>741012167>>741009078what do you think about the grandia one then
>>740996316Between this and the battle of Sword Valley, Xenoblade is a really strong open.
>>741012167games didn't look "pixelated" on the old TVs they were made for
>>740995535>The reactor bombing mission and a week in Twilight Town are also pretty top tier.Umm what did anon mean by this?
>>740995123ff8
FF2, you’re escaping from the Palamecia but you get caught by soldiers and die then the game ends or does it?
I liked Suikoden II's
YOUKNOWYOUWILLYOU KNOW, YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW, YOU KNOWTHAT YOU WILL
>>741013771those are other prominent jrpg intros, can you guess from what games without using grok?
>>740996621>shilling your E33>>740996674>QTEslop like E33Why do JRPG fans have such shitty taste? Probably brain fried by anime
>>740995123It should already be playing in your head. The cutscene that plays by letting the title screen idle, depicting the fall of Arctica Castle is also good.
>>741007129>LuringJecht was coming to collect his son regardless. Auron was toasting his old friend.
>>741013941FFVI through X were all pretty good intros.
>>740995985ThisShame it takes like 60 hours to know wtf even happened here though
>>741009826>I don't want or need a Xenogears remake It's literally coming next year
>>741007916My first thought entering this thread. Holy fuck it's good.
>>740996523>>740996674Kill yourself, retarded faggot.
>>740995123Final Fantasy 7. I don't care how much it makes people seethe. Its great because its so cool, has badass music, great characters, just such an epic intro to what is ultimately such an amazing game.
