Was Project Gestalt doomed to fail the moment the Replicants gained sentience?
it was doomed to fail once kaine gained a cock bigger than her forearm
>>741069875it was a gamble and it was stupid>oh shit we need to ice ourselves until the virus starts to fade away>also for some reason, let's make replicants sentient instead of just bodies on-standby and have some androids or shit to take care of society
>>741069875They were doomed the second the mother beast fell, if the replicants weren’t sentient, they couldn’t fight back against the red eyes but if they were, then humanity would destroy itself trying to reclaim independence
Even if everything worked as planned it still had a sub 1% chance of success.
Emil life is pretty fucked up
Replicant hit harder than Automata.Automata was somehow more predictable but also worse at explaining things than Replicant.
>>741072279Or they could do what >>741070975 said
>>741076620I complete Ending A of Automata is it worth it to continue or I should just watch the story on youtube instead?
The Black Scrawl, whatever happened thereBlack Scrawl was induced by the gestalt dying, killing the respective replicant, but without the Shadow Lord all Gestalts go insane, even the ones that had managed to merge successfully? Did any successful merges happen?
>>741080032have you completed Replicant?
>>741080060>>! Did any successful merges happen?!<I think the Aerie is as close as they get
>>741080120yeah and it was fucking exhausting. Still a good game but goddamn was it tedious
>>741070975>>741078803They tried that and it didn't work, the replicant body needs to be living
>>741080309It's less tedious than Replicant, I think. It's kind of the inverse of it, where if in Replicant you play act 1 once and then a minimum of act 2 twice (or 3 for all endings if you don't want to savestate),in Automata you play Act 1 twice (once with 2B, then with 9S) and then you play Act 2 once, because after completing it you get a chapter select so you don't have to run half the game again for another ending.9S I think is actually easier because hacking is overpowered. How did you find the Popola/Devola reveal in Automata, if you played Replicant first?I spoiled myself on it and I am still mad about it
I think it was also because Devola and Popola were shitty at their jobs.
>>741080309Automata is easier to complete. It actually switches up game mechanics and chapters for endings B/C and D/E are trivial to get after you unlock chapter select. It's not like Replicant where you have to complete the exact same sections five fucking times.
>>741080607I guess I should finish the whole ending>How did you find the Popola/Devola reveal in Automata, if you played Replicant first? It's been a long time since I played it, so I don't really remember how I reacted at the time. I was probably surprised.
>>741080754>It's not like Replicant where you have to complete the exact same sections five fucking times.Goddamn, I hate that shit
The guy who was supposed to keep the Gestalts alive is named Shadowlord. For a good guy, that name makes him sound like a straight up villain.
it still makes me seethe that some parts of the red eye war was shown in a fucking gatcha
>>741080607Not him but played gestalt first, the only surprise was seeing them in the background at the resistance camp before you meet them. Real "wtf what are YOU doing here" moment. The reveal there's multiple copies of them that each have their own assignments just kind of made sense more than it being surprising.Honestly the bigger moment for me was finding Emil.
>>741081194I still am not sure about that first reveal.I understand that it is ambiguous, but the the whole Android hierarchy is way too hazy for my liking. The second one I was aware of because I saw some gameplay footage years before I even played the game, but it was interesting trying to figure out how did Emil as you see him in Replicant became the way you see him in AutomataI played a bit of Automata first, then I switched over to Replicant and came to back Automata after finishing it.call me optimistic but I feel we are getting some nice for 10 year anniversary. Surely.
>>741081157>They killed the gacha for not being profitable enough>You could only get Automata character ONCE A YEARGee I wonder why this Nier gacha flopped, 2B appeared more frequently in other gachas than she did in the Nier gacha
TOTAL SHIGGER DEATH
>>741069951Does that make Nier gay since he's in love with Kaine? I mean Nier already lost his ass virginity
>>741083570Why would it make Nier gay?
>>741083838Cause Kaine has a dick
>>741083870*girldick
>>741084189Still a dick
>>741069875Yes. Yonah's Replicant was still conscious when the original took her body. Humanity was doomed from the moment they killed the red dragon.
>>741083570>Nier already lost his ass virginitynot cannon on my machine>>741083870>Cause Kaine has a dicknot cannon on my machine
>>741084608Yonah was a special case because she touched the book before getting put through the Gestalification process, or something like that.
>>741086670I don't buy it. If some bullshit like that could awaken the replicant consciousness after the gestalt soul transfer then that means that literally anything else could.Replicant Nier didn't doom humanity, he just accelerated it's demise.
>>741076620I deleted Replicant after beating Ending B because the story sucked and all the characters were whiny fags, especially Emil
>>741087164>Replicant Nier didn't doom humanity, he just accelerated it's demise.True but like he didn't know shit
>>741087268Yes, he didn't know. He was just a brother/father trying to save his sister/daughter, same as the shadowlord.
>>741087581I feel bad for the Shadowlord. That poor bastard.
>>741080060>Did any successful merges happen?Yonah kind of, if you ignore the part where she killed herself after.
>>741088584Man, if I were the Shadowlord, I would've fucking destroyed the whole damn planet. I waited 1,400 years to save my sister, and the first thing she did afterward was kill herself because of her morals. I'd have gone absolutely apeshit.
>>741087268>>741087581Grimoire Weiss definitely knew, and sided with the replicants anyways.Bro didn't know, but would have done the same thing anyways. He never had any reason to give any shits about the gestalts.
>>741088940Weiss is actually pretty evil if you think about it. Near the end of the game, he knows what the Gestalts are and what his purpose is, and he doesn’t give a shit.
So once a person gets split into Replicant/Gestalt pair, they are forever shadow people who can't touch the sun?
>>741089114Not at all really. Weiss was stripped of his humanity by the same humans who want to use him as a tool to save themselves (even if he probably doesn't remember it). He has zero intrinsic reason to value the revival of a long dead species. Gestalt Nier is in very much the same situation, and similarly does not give a shit about humanity. He only went along with the plan so he could protect Yonah.
>>741089213The intended plan was for a rejoining of body (replicant) and soul (gestalt/shades) but that plan was fucked because the bodies developed a conscious of their own, leading to two consciousness/souls in one body. That could never work, so Humanity died.
>>741089213>>741089801Actually why do Gestalts fade in the perpetual sun anyways?I don't remember there ever being a definite explanation in any of the supplementary material
>>741089801so because a replicant has consciousness, the gestalt can not fully take control and when hit direct sunlight gets exorcised? obviously we see it happen with Yonah, but as mentioned before she was a special case, or was that specifically about the fact that all her replicants will have the Black Scrawl regardless what happens
I thought the alien stuff would be a double red herring, but no, turns out that they really were actual aliens. What the fuck. I have trouble slotting them into the Nier/Drakengard cosmology that feels satisfying
>>741091424The Aerie is filled with Replicants that were "possessed by their Gestalts" and they are all driven insane and can barely function because of it.A merging like that only works in cases like Kaine's where the Replicant and Gestalt strike an accord.
>>741090075Not explained but some special shades can survive in the sunlight, probably something about the form the gestalts being intentionally weak since it was never meant to be their final form.>>741091424Gestalt Yonah allowed herself to get exorcised, plus, all the shades faded away when the shadowlord died because he was stabilizing them.but the main issue is about two souls sharing a body, only one can be in control.
>>741091648Was the possession implied to have happened before Act I or only after the timeskip when you visit for the second time? I thought it happened during timeskip.Because it seems like they functioned normality until Nier loudly proclaims Total Shade Death in front of the town that has them try to react in self defense. Only when they start losing do they schizo out and turn into the weird big ball.Aerie also seems to be in constant shade which is why they can have shades around.>>741091907Don't you fight shades as Kaine during E's first half? She just says that after Shadowlord died they started becoming more violent and berserk, not outright vanish.
>>741092036yea, now that I think of it, the seething from Aerie people was probably a>Replicants are the real monstersso them being shades during Act I makes sense.
>>741092036I haven't played 1.24 so I might be missing some details but somewhere in automata it's mentioned that shades went away after the shadowlord death.
>>741091590I thought the aliens being actually real was just a joke because there was a goofy joke scene in the audio drama where Emil fights aliens, and then it turned out it was actually canon all along.
>>741084189If getting pegegd is gay (it is), than getting dicked by a girl is extra gay
>>741092543*pegged
If you played the mobile game apparently humanity somehow survived because the machines managed to recreate them in alternate dimensions with magic and fio and the red girl leave for earthAnyway Nier 3 will be about the kingdom of the night where the dragons and flowers originated, maybe emil will fix himself and find a way to the other world/time.
>>741092634>Nier 3I can't wait for it, honestly.Yoko Taro has twisted mind, but one that has touched my heart strings time and time again
>>741092292I thought they would be some sort of bioengineered controlled opposition or the actual humans a la Squealer or like a breakway android faction.Even demons send over from the Drakengard feels like a better story beat than green vegetables that showed up from Tau Bumfuci as a monster heel gimmick to just get jobbed out backstage.I think it is the fact that because Machines become such a big deal in the story, them being created by random aliens who contribute nothing else but to show up on Earth and fuck shit up and not them being the result of the factory going haywire (I know about Beeby and his role) feels like it introduces a seemingly important factor>there are aliensAnd then just does absolutely nothing with it.Maybe there will be a pay off for this.
>>741091590They do have a subtextual theme in that they are closer to vegetable/non-'conscious' intelligences than human sapience. Which is why they can exist without the intervention of God, who hates humanity/human-derivative intelligence in the Yokoverse.
>>741069875>Was Project Gestalt doomed to fail the moment the Replicants gained sentience? It was doomed form the start. But it's not like humans could do much better using experimental largely untested magic while the time was running out. They tried and failed. The sad thing is that twins got all the flak for the failure despite the whole project was bullshit form the start.>cornerstone of the project was a guy with sick sister/daughter>scientists promised to cure her as a reward >they couldn't and her continuing illness was the trigger for the project's downfall
