I actually think in a cinematic adaptation of Star Fox it would be best to tell as a two-part story.The first film should focus on the inciting incident (Pigma's betrayal and the destruction of the original Star Fox unit when James was presumed KIA), what happened to Fox in the aftermath to his assembling of the new Star Fox team, the incursion against Corneria being their first real operation together, and then making Pigma the main antagonist of the film where Fox gets a modicum of vengeance against the man who betrayed his father for Andross (whether or not Pigma survives could go either way - if he does he can come back in the sequel as a pilot for Star Wolf or he can perish and Star Wolf can appear with a different fourth member). The movie would end with them turning back the Andross armada away from Corneria (and defeating Pigma in the process) but the shadow of Andross continues to be cast over the Lylat System, setting up the sequel.Then the sequel could focus on the push towards Andross across the Lylat System, the first encounter with Wolf O'Donnell, and finally taking on Andross to bring the story arc to a close (this could also be the point at which Fox's father is revealed to have survived and helps Fox take down Andross - again whether or not he survives could go either way).Splitting it up like this leaves enough room to do the origin story properly and allows Fox to confront the man who sold out his father separate from the conflict with Andross himself.
