Nah, gamesaar just decided to experiment and put it on tarantula pro, their symmetrical layout gamepad. They made a new revision of it with 8k polling rate and all of the glyph swapping is gone from it. Suffice to say, I doubt they'll ever bring that mechanism back.

Speaking of tarantula, the saars are using its shell as base for this abomination. It has a miniature force feedback motor crammed in there. I've not no clue what's the target audience here because in my eyes anyone autistic about racing is just going to get a real wheel instead of this.

This, I was hoping controllers would've progressed to the point that face buttons have holographic letters instead of a cheap circular piece of plastic with letters on it. At a +100 shekel price range its what customers deserve especially considering the advancement with TMR.
>>
>>741210663
Not sure about the fees themselves, but for Xbox licensed third party you're typically looking at $50+ for wired-only and $100+ for wireless. The majority of Sony third parties seem to be over $200 and will still lack haptics, adaptive triggers, and sometimes gyro.

>>741211845
If they're made by slaves then well done to those slaves cause they do a damn good job. I have the 8BitDo Pro 3 and it's a high quality controller. Nothing like the old days when your third party PS2 controllers were cheap dog shit which fell apart as effortlessly as they were slapped together. This one feels weighty and robust, has magnetic sticks and triggers, has all the features you need in a modern controller. It's genuinely very good, and on top of that I just love the visual design that simultaneously channels the designs of a bunch of different retro controllers. I have the Xbox style.

I went through dozens of third party PS2 controllers as a kid. Usually didn't last more than a few weeks before issues arising, some had issues right out the box. They were appealing cause they were half the price and had a bunch of cool designs and features. This bastard thing used to give me electric shocks.

I'll admit I haven't used a controller since the 7th gen era until now so I don't have much knowledge of today's quality standards but my 8bitdo certainly feels worlds apart from my experience as a kid.

yeah I'm looking through the reviews and I see a lot of people complain about chinky triggers that either outright break or get stuck
that's what you get when you ape the shitty dual shock triggers instead of the goated 360 ones

You are a literal fucking retard if the icons on your controller actually matter, i can type on a keyboard without looking i do not even need any icons on a controller.

People who on top of this can't remember the layout of an xbox or PS style buttons too and need the game to show the right icons so their little brains don't hurt are turbo fucking retards.

okay I literally just got the amazon package
this thing comes with a huge world atlas looking ahh manual wtf lol first impression was that the controller is tiny and this was my biggest fear because >chinese but on closer inspection it's almost 1:1 with the 360 controller but maybe the grips themselves are a smidge thinner
I'll just charge it for a couple of hours then put the dongle in and pray
>>
>>741217581
the lack of clickiness on the triggers and shoulder buttons is awful compared to the 360 ngl but everything else feels nice
could be a bit heavier too I have big hands and I wish they'd make big and heavy controllers for oafs like me

if you want a clicky controller thats heavier-ish the vader pro 5 is great but its a premium controller.

Theres a bunch of extra buttons all over the place though if you mind the goofiness. Theres an extra set shoulder buttons so you dont need raise your fingers off the trigger and two extra face buttons you can remap. If you dont like any of them you can just disable them though.

$80 for a controller seems a bit crazy to me but I believe you
I'm playing with the game sar right now and the sticks also feel a lot softer than the 360 (my frame of reference because of how long I used it) it doesn't feel that cheap but coupled with the triggers it brings it down to a 6/10 for me if the 360 controller was 9/10
I also hate the start/select button placement next to the home screen button it's actually unhinged
the d pad is awesome though I'll give them that

>>741218762
eh I didn't have many choices and steam sale was coming up
might just fix up my 360 controller and keep it handy if/when this thing breaks eventually
>>

ALSO not a big fan of how the matte buttons feel vs 360 glossy bubbly ones I really just wish the chinese would remake the 360 controller with modern qol stuff is it really that hard? did we lose the technology that made those bad boys?

anyways...thank you for coming to my first and last controller review don't forget to like and subscribe and do the needful sars

The colored SFC/EU SNES buttons that each model comes with as a freebie disintegrates. Those ones seem to have a weak plastic formulation that the other buttons don't have. Oddly I haven't even heard of the Gamecube colors' buttons disintegrating and those should be a pretty similar plastic formulation, maybe the doubleshotting for the letters adds strength.

To my knowledge they haven't fixed the problem.
>>
>>741202271
No, this is a worse solution. I have a Pro 3 that I was unhappy enough with it that I replace it with a different controller.

That method results in the buttons occasionally double-pressing and makes them loud.
>>
>>741204392
The gimmick is most of those controllers feel like cheap plastic dog shit until the DS4, the DS4 is hard to repair, and the DS5 is hard to repair AND has bad battery life.

Haven't used those, but that's a shame, it's a great controller otherwise. I have used the GC colors since I got it several months ago and can conform they're fine though I'm not a competitive button masher. I also use the lil yellow stick caps, they are kind of annoying to use but I don't care because I like fun whimsical things. You can also pinch it in between your thumb and index finger and it becomes a mini joystick.

See if you can score some analog stick and C-stick toppers from Retroflag or from Retro Fighters. Retroflag's slide-in Switch controller and Retro Fighters' BattlerGC Pro controller both have Gamecube stick toppers that are built for modern analog sticks. Retro Fighters could probably get it to you sooner, and the Retroflag sticks I have in this controller have some pretty wonky deadzones in the 8bitdo software to get them feeling correct. And yet the vibe is immaculate.

Other note for the 8bitdo Pro 3, like every other SNES derivative controller that 8bitdo's made, the ABXY buttons are keyed for SNES buttons. If you ever want the colored buttons without them disintegrating, track down a junk SNES controller on eBay, or buy clone buttons from elsewhere.

TECHNOLOGY
>>
>>741221834
It's nowhere near as sharp as the recess on that retrobit D-pad. It hasn't bothered me at all.

If you're worried about the buttons in the middle, where the recess would be deeper, might be lower compared to the buttons on the edges, they're not. They made those two buttons taller so they sit at the same height as the XY buttons. Now, the RB and RT buttons are slightly shorter and sit slightly lower than the other four.
>>
>>741222043
Depends if the controller has a dinput mode. With dinput on Steam I can map all buttons independently, PL, PR, L4, R4, and gyro. The issue is not with the controller but with the xinput interface which is standard for games on Windows and only maps Xbox commands. If your controller lacks a dinput mode, it's possible still it might expose those buttons independently in a way you could map with a third party mapping software but I've never tried it.
>>
>>741222480
So which controllers have extra buttons and a dinput mode?

>>
>>741221751
>>741221961

>>
Literally just use Playstation button names. Everyone knows them and it's impossible to mistake them because nobody else has used them.
>>
>>741223074
Supposedly it has one, but it's really tiny, so it could be either a quiet revision or poor design.
>>
>>741202191
That looks even more retarded than the flip one
>>
>>741222480
This isn't explicitly a dinput thing, the controller needs to be supported by Steam too. Controllers like 8Bitdo Pro 2 and Flydigi Vader 3 Pro had dinput but didn't have back buttons visible in Steam until a later update supported it, and their budget controllers still aren't supported.

Vader 5 Pro also doesn't have dinput, but they have their own workaround to make all eight extra buttons + gyro work on xinput through Steam Input regardless.

>>741222557
For options where the extra buttons + gyro are visible to Steam,
>8Bitdo Ultimate 2 and Pro 2-3
>Gamesir G7 Pro 8K
>Flydigi Vader 3-5 Pro and Apex 5
>Mojhon Blitz 2 and Rainbow 3

I don't play nintendo games so this is never a problem and I've played so many games on PC with a PS controller that xbox prompts instantly translate.

If I'm holding a nintendo controller I instinctively know A is on the right.
If I'm holding an Xbox controller I know A is on the bottom.

But if I'm emulating a nintendo game with an Xbox controller I'll accidentally press the A button on the controller. The controller's shape affects my muscle memory.

Stick latency is hit-or-miss if you're playing wireless with the dongle. It has to be pretty close to stay consistent, so I keep them close together and don't have much trouble. The back paddles do suck but it's mostly a case where they aren't consistent when holding. I haven't had a problem just tapping them. That and there are still 7 other macro buttons available.

Turtle beach recons- These controllers are the worst pieces of shit imaginable. A friend and i have had them for about a year and mine has serious stick drift, his has a faulty charging port and the A button is dead.
The general feel of the rubber is like fucking sandpaper. the stick mechanism feels like it's made of the lightest, cheapest shit imaginable and the dpad requires so much force that you get bruising within an hour.
