hows your gamedev going?
I think my userbase is making me misanthropic.
>>741211761you have a userbase? I don't even know if people play my game after they download it because no one ever leaves comments
>>741212451My userbase likes to play the tutorial then give up instantly after playing the game for 3 minutes. I don't know what could possibly be getting 80% of my players to do the exact same thing because none ever tell me what it is.
>>741211761My userbase made some tracks, also the menus can be navigated by mouse now.
>>741212661Either your tutorial is really shit or unfunctional, meaning players are hitting a wall and leaving.Or they've finished the tutorial and feel like the game isnt very good.If you can't keep players in the game for longer than 3 minutes, its one of those.
I realized I was flailing around in the dark and went back to the drawing board. Bit the bullet and am now writing up a proper GDD.

Are incremental games still the "low effort free money" genre or has it become oversaturated?
>>741215549it's the new age zombie game paradox. There's simultaneously too many, but people who actually buy and play them still want more.
>>741215462I don't even know what that is so any resemblance is purely coincidental
>>741215549There are over 500 incrementals in this next fest. with 4 months between fests that means at least 4 of them release every day on average.
>>741211017bad, i have no time for devving anymore
>>741215549i still dont even know what an incremental is, just shit like cookie clicker?
>>741217441Yeah. And Vampire Survivors like games. They moneymaxx by prioritizing gambling mechanics, number go up, an visual effects. They're the gamer equivalent of Cocomelon.
>>741217441Haha dookie licker
>>741211017>be busy>take 2 month break>come back>pic relatedfuck
>>741215549I had decent success with an incremental, made a second and it's absolutely tanked. None of the content creators that played my first have played the second so it's had 0 exposure.Considering the first incremental was about pouring glasses of water, I thought a more in depth game would do better but alas.
>>741211017I put it off for almost a year now even with people waiting for it. Hoping Fable 5 gets back online later so I can cheat my way to finishing
Stomp stomp, brrrt.
What was that $3 game someone was talking about in the last thread that released last week and made a boatload? Can't find it in the archives.
>>741219015What does decent success look like? Side hobby money or job money?
>>741222010side hobby.Made the game in about 3 weeks, net rev is $5.5kIt would be job money if I kept pumping them out
>>741219015>I thought a more in depth game would do better but alas. This is exactly where you messed up. The incremental brainlet audience doesn't care for depth or gameplay, they just want a quick dopamine rush.
I'm so aggressively depressed and game devving takes so much man-hours it's insane.Seriously, yesterday I must have spent eight hours straight game devving and all I've got to show for it is two new breakable props with physics and particle effects for each.I've no freaking idea how these young kids manage to do it, 18 years old, 22 years old, and they do it while attending college, and while holding down a job, and somehow they still have the time to learn how to play an instrument and RP in VRChat with their furry friends, it's insanity. These people are truly built different, they weren't kidding about it.
>>741223002learn how to take shortcuts and be okay with "good enough"like for your props, depending on your game it could be something like>actual prop>random blob meshes in the color of the prop>particle smoke or somethingthen when you break it in game, the actual prop is disabled, a bunch of random blob meshes spawn in its spot, then you do some physics to make them disperse, and play the particle effect to cover up the original mesh getting disabled.the nice thing about indie games is you can lie and say it's an artistic choice, when in reality it's a limitation of time. limitations force you to act creatively. who knows? maybe in 20 years some retards will think "WOW he chose this as his aesthetic for art reasons!" like how they do it with psx graphics.
>>741212661That sounds frustrating. Have you ever tried having a friend or someone who hasn't played it before stream their first attempt for you? Just watch and see what they do. Don't tell them things, just let them figure it out and if it's painful, well, you know what's going on.
>>741215332works on my machine
>got a prototype 90% done>for some reason get a mental block where I can't get myself to finish it, nor add content
I've got a new demo! Prologue battle + 6 battles along with plot and towns between. Give it a try, even if just for a battle or two! In the "Other" section of the settings menu, you can turn action scenes to player phase only or off which will make battle a lot faster, in case you don't want to spend too much time dicking around for a demo. There's a link for a survey on the itch page, I'd really appreciate feedback there.https://jebbestermakesagame.itch.io/shieldlinked
instead of using dex, i'm using cunning (cunn) for my game
>>741226490youre nowhere near finished. Youll know you are near finished when you have content that needs to be cut.
>>741226560[sob emoji]

Had a pretty good weekend devving. Got the end vibe/final looks dialed in for my tavern builder game. Top down and third person camera. >>What happened to your anime dragon game I still got that concept, but the sheer amount of content needed for that game is too much. It works better if I do this game first and then that game. Plus, I am a terrible landscape artist. >>741222339This is why I am hesitant to implement economy in my game. >>741227128Aislop?
>>741227374No... these are in-game screenshots. >>741226521This is better than I thought it would be. Engaging opening and lore. You should tell the player what the red plus sign is when you click an enemy, though. Also, I might be stupid, but I would expect that when I left click a unit and then left click an enemy unit, I would expect the option to attack. It worked the first time, but then no longer. Maybe this is a bug? Or maybe put the attack order explicity in the context menu that you already have.

>>741228035Your bloom feels really high
>>741228303Do you mean globally, or localized to parts of the screen that are very bright? I'm currently in the process of replacing all the materials I use with my own shaders, which allows me lower the brightness without killing the saturation. The bright red of the apple will be toned down soon, for example. If you think it's too bloomy overall I'll take note of that. I've had several comments from people that the brightness is too much so it's definitely something I'll need to keep working on
>>741228637>>741228303I like the bloom, it makes the christmas scene look very christmasy
>>741228637The sun and the shine on the armour/helmet are blindingly bright. Also I'm not sure if it's a texture thing or a lighting thing, but the plume also reflects very bright white like it's a metal surface.
>>741227876Thanks for giving it a try! Yeah, the red plus sign thing, I do mention clicking the enemy to persist their attack range but I don't explicitly mention the symbol which is a bit confusing, thanks for letting me know. As for the next note, turns always are Movement -> Action so you always need to complete your movement first before selecting an enemy. If you don't want to move, you just click the character again as if selecting their current location as their movement destination. But that's true, I could just add something to make it so clicking an enemy that you're already in range of will skip the movement and assume you wanted to attack them. I don't think I'd want to do this for enemies you need to move to attack since being very particular with your movements is important and I wouldn't want to train players to just accept whatever tile I assumed was best to move to.Thanks again!
>>741228746Plume is an oversight. It's a fresnel effect that I haven't tuned for that part of the model yet, which I somehow didn't notice. Thanks for letting me know
This is the last garden that will be in the game on release (3 in total). It was fun making all these fake reflections, but it's time to work on the actual game now.Next Fest going so-so so far.
>>741228750>>If you don't want to move, you just click the character again as if selecting their current location as their movement destination.Yeah, that is where I was screwing up. As you say, I just want to attack then, considering I am standing next to the enemy... but I can see why assumptions would hurt player expectations too (e.g. with other types of enemies). That is why I think the context menu could use an attack button. >>741228938Can everyone apply for Next Fest? What are the rules for submitting? Do you need a demo? I imagine 2D would probably lend itself to beginners more in regards to creating assets/animating but 3D would be my preferred environment, just to capture the scale/spectacle of it, having helis, landing craft in the fish pond, el Alamein style tank warfare in the sandpit etc

>>741250724i see 3 problems already thereproblem 1: xitter marketing.... the scroll-and-like apps are dopamine machines, their metrics are meaningless because none of their users actually exit the app, they would rather shit in their seats like a videopoker addictproblem 2: steam has next to no audience... they have users sure, but no audience, everything popular on steam is popular via somewhere else... "streamers" like he mentioned would be a solve for that, the fact it wasn't tells me he probably did something stupid like having them play the game before it was available to buy, any "curious gamers" are just going to go straight from the streamer to purchasing it, they're not going to bother with...problem 3: "wishlists" are only used by steamies and steamies only use them as a way to be notified when the product (not "game" as they probably won't ever play it so for them you shouldnt call it a "game") is at a rock bottom discount, none of them are purchasing at release.

>>741255747kinematic rigidbody controller. if you are using any amount of physics anywhere in your game, you should drop the character controller.I replied to your post earlier, the character controller is meant for shit like walking sims or basic RPG shit where there isn't any physics.when you use a rigidbody, you can have child objects with colliders and use that only for NPC against player collision. and if you insist on sticking with the character controller, try making your player walk into an NPC with no active logic. Guess what? collisions are disabled if nothing is pushing the controller.its a quick and easy drop-in solution for demoing and simple games. if you use any amount of physics you're gonna run into problems, like you have been.
>>741256773>UnrealShittttt I can't use this>>741256889My physics are not actually physics. They're me aggressively faking physics with a state machine.
>>741226521pretty cool even though the fire emblem style of SRPGs aren't really my thing, i prefer XCOM and FFTactics where there isn't any real fluff mid-battle, just fighting with the occasional straightforward side-objective or a side activity based on who I actively deployed for that specific purpose (ie i deploy a thief if I want an enemy's equipment or to disarm them). that first battle was really well done in terms of making it easy to get the 7 turn bonus with a small bit of intuition. since im not the target audience i only have a bit of feedback>I used mouse controls and I found it annoying to switch back and forth between keyboard and mouse for different things, might be worth adding click-to-move to explore/talk segments and keyboard controls to menus when playing on mouse mode>I repeatedly forgot to spare because the visual feedback is non-existent, it might be worth adding an indicator next to the enemy sprite unless I missed it, and also add a Spare button to the combat preview since you can jump past the action menu straight into combat. This could also be useful in the context of enemies that can't be spared, ie the indicator won't display on them even if conditions are met>Speaking of the action menu, there was a point during that first battle where I put the spear furry in the fort to bait the incoming Cavalry enemy onto the bridge. I briefly forgot that I could just click an adjacent enemy, and for a moment I thought I wasn't able to attack the cavalry with the archer since the action menu was covering up the cavalry completely>please add a girl with big boobs
>>741257056Although maybe I can take a look at it. After all, the fundamental principles are what's important. Right now what I struggle the most with is enemy/player collision/placement.Like, look at your MP4. Notice how the enemy generally stays close to the player and doesn't get randomly pushed out of the way. While I wouldn't say I want that exactly, because I'm aiming for more NGB than anything else.Right now my problem is that my player tends to either "Drift" through the enemy, leading to clunky and slippery combat, or get stuck on them mid-air or vice versa, and there is no in-between. It's a problem of collision/placement, as I said.https://youtu.be/0NjSwL3k7s8?t=10Just a basic enemy reaction like this is kinda what I'm looking for. Not even animations.
https://files.catbox.moe/5l8m8k.mp4Replaced a FUCKLOAD of my ugly programmer art, added some sound effects, and fixed a few bugs. I still need to replace the tutorial (you can see it for just a split second at 2:00 in the video), and I think I'd like to add some more detail to the castle interior backgrounds (tiles on the floor, maybe some small tables here and there, etc.). I'd also like to add some background art to the battle scene. Something REALLY simple, like in the Gen 3 Pokemon games. It still feels like the whole cutscene (especially the intro) is too "quiet". But adding music doesn't feel right. Maybe I'll add some "clothes shuffling" sound effects when some of the characters change their positions.
>>741257056>My physics are not actually physics. They're me aggressively faking physics with a state machine.even so, you should drop the CC. like I said, it's not designed for anything like what you're trying to do.
>>741258530Then what is? I can't use a RB for a game that's so heavily arcadey.
>>741257056You know the games you're trying to copy have physics right?? DMC is notorious for all the cool shit you do with like guard flying and inertia (neutered in 5 but still). NG is a bit more rigid but there's still obviously basic collision between entities. The rigidbody physics don't need to dictate everything but it should still be present for generic interactions. I feel like you took my state machine suggestion from a long while back way too literally. You can have both. Hell I'm making a 2d action game with decently complex state machines and I still have rigidbodies for some physics interactions.
>>741259169yes you can lol. kinematic rigidbodies are basically what you're describing with fake physics. kinematic means all of the physic calculations can be handled through scripting. you'll have complete control over everything.also, the unity controller is just a locked down and shittier kinematic controller anyway.
>>741257734>since im not the target audience i only have a bit of feedbackI'm hoping anyone who likes turn based games can be part of the target audience and your feedback is great! Move/interacting with the mouse in exploration segments is good, I'll definitely get to that eventually. And the reminders for sparing is a great idea. About the action menu, you can move it around if it gets in the way. I had done a little work to try and make it less obtrusive but I could see it maybe needing a few more tweaks.>please add a girl with big boobs:)Thank you very much for trying it and sharing your thoughts, it was fantastic to hear them.
>>741259368Well, I'm doing NG-rigid than DMC-freeflow. In fact, I'm primarily studying fighting games to get an idea of how this actually works. Hell, you can't even move midair. That's how strict we're going.Right now, my game actually has gravity and proper knockback and inertia, but my problem mainly comes in the form of collision. See, my problem mainly comes in the form of the enemy kinda getting repulsed in a funky way. I actually like soft collision, and it's clearly the way to go as it prevents characters from getting caught on each other entirely, but it feels like Unity's Character Controllers are very strict about how much you're allowed to "Pass through" an enemy, which right now is "Too much.">>741259635Anon one of the first things I did with the project was remove RBs entirely because they made movement so utterly buggy that it borders on impossible.
I'm making a spell casting system at the moment.>>741215549Half of the steam fest games are them, and the genre is mostly about dumbing down unless you go for a niche.
>>741259813https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ls5BFzuxGw4Also, I just figured out how to solve my issue. Horray!!!
>>741259813NG still has slow free movement in any direction if you do a neutral jump, not to mention wind path use. And that anon is right, you literally control everything about the physics when it's set to kinematic. If it's "buggy" that's entirely a you problem.
>>741259693that water is way too detailed compared to the stone.
>>741259813sounds like a skill issue. good luck on your game.

>>741260031I think you might be right. Thank you
>>741260015I actually intend to add a Wind Path/Enemy Step type thing eventually. My player's movement is a very strict state machine with little things to make it feel more natural.
>>741260158You fucked up I don't see why you're ignorantly blaming it on the rb. Like we both fucking said like three times already you CONTROL EVERYTHING ABOUT A KINEMATIC RIGIDBODY. My player's movement is COMPLETELY dictated by code, the jump arc, everything. When I added a kinematic RB afterwards, literally nothing changed except for the fact that entities can now push each other around. This is not some complete replacement ragdoll physics shit that you're making it sound like.
>>741260131It's not a skill issue if it was buggy from the start. Rigidbodies are useless and don't work
>>741260387I mean, I did what you asked and made it>No gravity>Kinematic>Blah blah blahAbsolutely nothing changed, so I wonder why the fuck I need this in the first place

>>741260414What an insanely terrible ngmi attitude to have and the reason why you're in this situation to begin with. Stay humble, you're some random faggot making his first game in his basement trying and failing to copy entire game systems based off assorted clips of another game, maybe you should assume "hmm maybe I'm not doing this right" instead of "nah this insanely common industry standard physics component is broken and buggy".
>>741260686I'm not going to walk you through everything, the tools are in front of you. You CONTROL EVERYTHING with kinematic physics and their interactions, wow have I said that yet? Figure it out with some googling and hopefully in good time so you don't have to subject another 20 gamedev threads to your vague bitching and whining.
>>741260989Maybe it's because I don't use rbs in my programming whatsoever, so I see no difference regardless of it being kinematic. The entirety of the player's movement is controlled via a mathematical FSM. This grants me control over every bit of it's physics, from it's velocity midair, the peak of it's jump and attack arcs, the duration and force of wallrunning, and it's acceleration and deceleration among other thingsBasically I already have what you're suggesting. So no thanks. RBs are not for a game like this
>>741261348Plus, real (Good) action games don't use "Physics" like some kind of simulation. They aggressively fake it with state machines and animations.Hell, I might actually ditch using CC's Layer Index entirely and hardcode a separate separation bubble.

It felt like if you cant keep everyone but 1 of them down its down to hit and run tactics. limited stamina doesn't help. With the black goblin it's even worse, defending his attacks takes so much stamina. it felt like only the jump attack was punishable, but cheesing enemies as the main strategy to beating them is lame. the enemy design of harpies is probably ok, the issue is the offscreen grab. It felt like if you cant keep everyone but 1 of them down its down to hit and run tactics. limited stamina doesn't help.I'm still mid playing it myself, but only armored goblins have hyperarmor. Round slash takes care of goblins that try to flank you, if they get behind your back it's best just move and re-engage.
>>741270785Anon. From what I’ve read and seen, Kinematic Rigidbodies are script driven movement/physics.Aka what I already do. I’m not going to uproot my entire code base and replace it all with rigidbodies for nothing more than a minor decrease in control and the approval of a guy on 4chan.
>>741271016>thoYikes
>>741271159After the 2nd level there's an armored goblin on nearly every encounter which means you'll get hit if you roundslash. Stamina recovery is low even if you run around and stop attacking, so you can't use skills as much as you want when you have encounters back to back. I'll watch his demo playthrough to see how pros do it.
Glad gobbodev has a thread AND has fags playtesting his game responding in the dev thread. No hate man, but stop spamming your shit here.

>>741271546>>741270859looking at his gameplay I see that he does footsies with the black goblin, utilizes two lights into shield bash which I never tried, gets in the middle of a crowd to round slash. picks up a goblin and walks back to throw, instead of attempting to throw on the spot and getting hit by the approaching dude. his positioning game is much better than mine.
>>741271827I actually respect him for working this hard on it
>>741270859thanks for playing anon! damn that last image is terrifying. I think I just have to make it easier, since it's just the prologue I think I'm throwing way too much stuff at the player. Please anons, I have serious choice paralysis and have no idea how to start my game. I want to make some sort of 3D action RPG with PS1/PS2 graphics and pre rendered backgrounds/fixed camera angles, and I also want to create cut scenes for it. How would I even begin making this project? I have the game mechanucs, story and even level layouts drawn and listed on paper but I have zero clue how to code anything and have just done elementary dives into C, C++ and Odin, and a little bit of Opengl and Vulcan which quickly became intimidating and which I backed out of. I have ideas for a game, but no friends who are game Devs/ into game Devs to bounce ideas off. I just can't break this choice paralysis and routinely give up trying
hmmm>dev A in thread makes a game that people like and are positive about>sudden seething and vitriol from dev B who feels entitled to the same praise and success that dev A's game is getting Feel like I've seen this episode before

>>741273078throw your idea into the bin for the moment and do some basic unity/godot tutorials first
>>741273223I wanted to download models from PS2/psp games and then attempt to emulate their triangle mesh mid 2000s poly designs in my own models in Blender, before giving them wiremeshes and making custom animations with them. Then I'd like to texture them and include baked in lighting for certain scenes. But again I just have no idea how to do that. I have the idea, I don't know the practical path towards doing any of that
>>741273078>I have serious choice paralysisSo how do you survive everyday? It must be a horror for you to choose what to eat for meals everyday since there's thousands of choices out there.
I want to make a classic survival horror, like re1 or sh2, but set in the 1950s-1960s Soviet Union. You're trapped in a closed Soviet City, in a non-descript SSR, and SHTF because Soviet scientists have been performing psychic experiments under the city and contact a Pagan entity. You're just a regular Soviet Man living in a commieblock, you have 2 years military experience like most men, and work in a factory as a technician. You need to find a way out of the city, which has been put on lockdown and surrounded by the Soviet authorities and anyone fleeing gets blasted on sight. For whatever reason, you and a few others are immune to the Pagan entities mind fuckery, but most of the city has either been turned feral from psychic madness or into loyal slaves for the entity. 1 good ending, 1 bad ending. You become the host for the entity and the apocalypse occurs. Bad ending. You destroy the entity and survive.
>>741273549Okay, so show me you can make a basic controller
>>741273124>Feel like I've seen this episode beforeyeah, YoursToConquer was a really annoying attention starved fag before even Fygoon existed. El goblino is just a rerun
>>741273078>Opengl and VulkanDon't touch this shit if you want to make a game. Don't touch this shit if you need advice on where to start with it.Start by picking an engine, start by making games that aren't the one you like in that engine. You could for example pick Unity, Unreal and Godot and then try to make the same game in all of them to compare the experience, how confident you feel in them and so on.It'll take time, learning to code is a skill, learning to make game systems is another skill. If you're willing to develop these skills by the start of July you could have a couple VERY basic "games" coded and be better prepared for asking questions and understanding answers than you are now.
>>741272082> I may need better tutorials lol. Thanks for checking out the game! The tutorial had all the info needed, if players don't read that's on them. I'll give more in-depth feedback after I finish it but personally most difficulties I have with combat is just getting used to the rhythm and spacing of it. I keep going for a backhop that doesn't exist, so I suspect there are many others too who have gotten used to rules of Soulslikes and other 3rd person action games. It's refreshing, goblins actively flanking was a nice surprise.

>>741273579I'm just using the basic unity FPS controller currently while learning how to implement different systems and understand how they work. I've taken flooded lands from the unity store and building things inside that just to see how it works. I've made a main menu, quest menu, basic inventory, learned how to make an interactable notes that are accessible in a UI/invetory, made a cutscene with a moving car with a story exposition, made a flashlight to navigate in the dark, and made a 3 step quest with an interactable NPC. This weekend I'm going to try make an enemy that will spawn and attack you if you do a certain thing during a quest.I don't intend to use most of my own systems, like inventory, because better versions are on the store and cheap. I just want to understand how they work from the bottom up. What worries me is the asset building. I have lots of CAD experience as a mech eng, but blender is completely different. That's why I'm trying to pick a setting that is 1) simple (commieblocks) and 2) real world assets exist and are not copyrighted.

>>741276745They don't. You can find asset pack assets in Fallout and CoD and shit. As long as the important assets are unique then nobody notices the others.

>>741277524Isn't that just you imagination? Many devs with shipped games express anger at Steam's rates. They just tend to stay quiet since they don't want additional issues. Steam's income vs the service it provides is so disproportionate Steam is sometimes estimated to be the company in the world with the highest income per employee. The only company even in the ballpark of Steam's absurd profitability (making money for doing nothing) is onlyfans. It's a middleman gating games on a platform because everyone is there. It's a problem with our economic model too and it's how Elon musk became rich. He simply hopped on board a service that didn't exist before (PayPal) and then was sold for over a billion. >>741278474it's actually worse than your average walledgarden middleman parasite techmonopoly since theres no actual technical walls to be seen anywhere..... it's walls are entirely psychological: the psychology on users of losing their library, achievement, friends lists, hats, the 5 cents remaining on their steam wallet, etc, etc and for developers they harp on their platforms user count (even if it's fuckton smaller than google play) or their platforms average revenue (even if it's a fuckton smaller than the app store) and pour tons of money into paying shills to propagandize to devs how they NEED steam to access THEIR users even though there users are on a fucking PC not locked into a console or phone. it's a monopoly built of pure psyops all the way through.

Trust me, I've been in the Mario and Sonic fangame community for a long time and most fangame developers didn't pull it off minus a few exceptions like Freedom Planet, Spark and A Hat In Time (though MekuCube was already banned from most fan communities he's been part of cause he behaves like an absolute sociopath).

>>741285004Real answer? It will turn out the same way as it would if you went 100% politically correct woke. A certain crowd who thinks you're based will follow you, and none of them will actually buy your game.
>>741284664I think guides/books suck for beginners and you should acquire hands-on experience ASAP.

>>741287237Yesn't. Some might be useful at times. Now that chat can code, why bother with books?
>>741289869I don't hate books but you need context for them. A beginner doesn't need to learn why a private variable is good because there's nothing for that knowledge to stick to yet. No experience to contextualize the value of it.
>>741287237>hands-on experienceisn't that what I'm doing?I'm coding in practical examples
>>741211017been spending probably too much time working on a custom spatial system for AI navigation/visibility/pathfindingi want my robot girls to intelligently play hide and seek tag with each other in a dynamic environment where i can add new rooms or blow holes in the wallsthe autistic vision must be realized before i can move on to anything else
>>741289552SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP I AM SUCCESSFUL DID YOU SEE THE YOUTUBE VIEWS
>>741284664Its how i learned. Pretty good to follow through with

>>741292484I'm reminded of when FreakZone Games put out that Tweet like "please RT this, Sparky isn't selling" which blew up (I remember it having like 50k likes and millions of views or something) but didn't seem to have helped much with sales at the time. Social media marketing and/or pitybaiting (the new meta as popularized by Toonsouls) doesn't always convert to sales.

>>741294727There is no dating mechanic in this game, haha. Although, I did think about it at one point for one of the games in this world... >>When you generate AI art of characters in love, because you are so lonely. It's an abstract kind of feel.
>>741295190I do not understand. I take it that having negative soul is a bad thing. What makes it bad? I am open to your constructive criticism.
>>741295202I don't the hate for ai for solo devs when game studios use it. People bitch like children when you mention e33 and their ai usage. >but muh placeholders!!!They used the machine to make/prompt it, now it knows how to make something based on their prompts. It is like getting arrested and have your fingerprints taken. Too late, nothing you can do.
>>741295294Zero cohesion. It's like looking at a grade school diorama inspired by ransom notes, where everything is unrelated and haphazardly placed to create a scene.
>>741295758I disagree, it looks like furfag tranime stuff to me, that's what he was going for obv
>>741295294pfft, he's blowing it out of proportions.mixed assets or not the game looks decent, lighting, shaders, vfx, skybox. I bet he just wants to step on you and make you drop your game because he's miserable.
>>741295843He could achieve that look and maintain cohesion. The furries look like they were pasted in as an afterthought. There are plenty of great furry games that feel cohesive and believable, this is not one of them so far.I'm not saying it's impossible, as there are anime games featuring anthros I thoroughly enjoy. As it currently stands, I do not find it believable.
>>741295962I am not miserable, I am sick of people treating my lifestyle as a costume that can be slapped onto anime characters.
>>741295758Okay, and in what ways does it have zero cohesion, according to you? The lizard and the other characters look different at the moment, because of different shaders, which I will correct for. I will probably swap out the skybox for something else. As for placement, this scene needs some work, yeah, this was a quick test. Something else? >>741295962Thank you for the kind words.
Man I seriously can't work on the same game for more than a month without getting bored with it and wanting to switch to another game idea. I think Im gonna have to stick to just making very short games with a 1 month dev time to solve this issue.
I’m just frustrated I can’t do anything fast
>>741297202Where do you get bored each time? Is there a specific thing you could change to reduce boredom?
>>741211017>want to make fun platformer like Mario or Sonic>market flooded>uh a metroidvania?>market flooded>topdown zelda style g->market flooded>beat 'em u->MARKET FLOODED>my own unique game genre never before s?>sorry bro, once you put it on the internet the local aifags will just make their own version and spam it so they get paid over yousigh
>>741211017Where's Bevy?
>>741297325>Where do you get bored each time? After I complete most of the games base systems and have created a small slice of what the finished product would look and play like. So creating all the content after that.
there's a new trend on JP twitter called "9 steam games I want to share"

>>741298438I make good version of idea, AI makes shit version of idea. Why should I be concerned whatsoever? If anything the wave of clones will make people think of my game and play it again.
>>741289989You do. Most books are on a level that you want to achieve not that you currently have. Same goes for tutorials. Very few can open a booknd start coding.
>>741299563No but if you're completely green you don't read an intermediate book. You read a beginner book, you apply the knowledge in practice, and then you read an intermediate one. Problem is most programming books are beginner, advanced, and expert in one. So in practice they're just expert books.
