I'm enjoying the demo so far. I'm not much of an SAO fan, so it's good that I can still enjoy it without the SAO stuff being more than the setting and a few nudge-nudge moments. I'm not sure what the developers were thinking to not include the character creator, at least not as a side-thing in any case. I'll probably restart the game on permadeath mode when it releases because the base game is far too easy so far in the demo, it's basically impossible to die on normal unless you're absolutely braindead (which, to be fair, most anime fans are). I've played 3-4 other SAO games, and the only other one I've enjoyed was the one based on GGO, aka, the best anime arc besides the very first one. I just wish Accel World got this much attention and treatment.

Just finished the demo. It's way too easy, you just min-max your weapons main stat and use sprinting attacks to take out any normal enemy, and spam sword arts on bosses. I only had to heal twice in the final dungeon, and both times were because I misjudged an attack. It's hard to say whether or not there will be a free-roam mode based on what the demo gave us, so for anyone expecting an open world, maybe wait to see some full game footage before buying. I had fun with it, but I'd probably only play this on Hard or Permadeath mode, assuming there is an open world.

A lot of the problems with the demo are probably just a result of it being the prologue. There are no side quests, so there's no NPCs to interact with in the Town of Beginnings. They didn't build all that for nothing, for sure as you play the game there will be this game's equivalent of relationship systems and character quests to go do, but there's nothing in the prologue - I refuse to believe the actual game will be like that. The demo's main problem is that it exists. It shouldn't be 4 hours long. That's just retarded. The intro dungeon is long enough, I was surprised to see it go on from there. It makes sense that they want to introduce a few characters past it and set up some narrative hooks. We know it's going to be a death game and thousands of people are gonna die, so setting up the PKers early and characters like Cal roping his brother into it is good stuff, but sending you on huge quests for them into the world, which of course has nothing to find in it aside from some blueprints, is pretty shit. The game BETTER have some NPCs and quests to find out there because fuck it was awful running around what is an actually pretty beautiful world with loads of interesting visual design but which has nothing in it. Even previous games like Alicization Lycoris had towns with NPCs in them and quests - were they good? No, but at least they were there.Anyway I've played all the games and pre-ordered this one because I am mentally ill and like to play these games because they feel personally made just for me (at least the DLC does, I'm one of the few hundred people who actually play all the DLC and finish it) so I'm always gonna play them regardless of how bad they are but I am annoyed that the demo is as bad as it is. There's never any point where you can go to one area or another, which even DaS3 allows a few times; LoP is a purely linear game. Even Demons' Souls had bigger levels with more different paths to them than Lies of P does.

They definitely could have taken it further but you can find NPCs out in the world, and help them grind mobs to level them up. It boosted your preparedness rating and made them stronger in raid fights, but you mostly just blew the boss to bits by yourself and tried to do it before anyone died. The effort to simulate other raid members moving up the floors and grinding level was there but pretty undercooked, but I doubt you're gonna see anything like that in this game. For them to justify it now it'd have to be a central mechanic, which isn't gonna work with only two floors.

Didn't enjoy the start of the demo at all. They should spawn you in the overworld and not in some generic ass ruins. I actually got lost twice and ended up running the wrong way. The character models look kinda shitty. Not being able to change equipment on the fly is a terrible design choice, especially when they could do it in the anime. The world itself looks kinda cool. Was nice to run into Ilfang the Kobold Lord as well.All in all, it's a game I'd only buy for like 60% off.

Demo finished. They could scale back on fall height resetting and other things I may have not experienced, but it's honestly not as bad as people make it out to be. Although I'm patient, and an SAO fan. Do hope that there aren't any boundaries in the full release, it's a big world and Lycoris didn't have such restrictions on its exploration, and that was partly inspired by Skyrim. It does prevent being able to experience field chatter if you up and explore everything though, so they should realised that they needed to be flexible with that. Nothing wrong with criticism but I really feel like I'm looking at (reasonable) idiots, especially JP feedback.
