I think I know how to beat the game but I'm scared to try it.
if I don't get to the vessel in time from the ash twin, doesn't that mean I can't respawn since my statue isn't powered anymore?
>>
>>741261913
Do it you coward
>>
>>741261913
Pretty neat, huh? You got used to your deaths being meaningless for 99% of the game. Now, you need to get back in the "don't die" mindset for one last high pressure excursion, cause if you die, you die for REAL
>>
>>741261974
Ok, hopefully I don't lose all my progress.... I fucking hate Dark Bramble.
>>741262061
This is the kind of thing that scares me in the moment but I'll probably look back on fondly in the future.
>>
>>741262212
even if you lose all progress, you haven't lost any progress, right? cause the only thing you gain each loop is knowledge
>>
>>741262260
That's true, I just really enjoy filling out the ship log and I wanted to get that one achievement
>>
>>741262260
But you'll know that canonically, your astronaut failed the one time it mattered.
>>
>>741261913
More of an easter egg than spoiler but if you die before reaching the museum, you get a game over screen and the credits roll.
>>
>>741263287
One of the first things I did in game was check if there was fall damage, so I got that "ending" really quick.
>>
>>741261913
if you die in the game you die in real life

I got the core to the vessel in one shot bros
This ending is really reminding me of pic related

fun fact
the devs originally planned for it to delete your save file if you died with the core removed, but the publisher pushed back on that so they didn't do it

>tfw i'm just finding out my save wasn't in danger after beatring the game
would've been pretty ludokino if they did that.

I'm 35 and this is genuinely one of the best games I've ever played. I don't think anything will ever be able to provide a similar experience
>>
God this game is so fucking kino
>>
>>741265856
thank you
I look forward to playing the DLC next when i get it on the summer sale
>>
>>741266041
elden ring is the only other game that's given me that feeling
>>
>>741266274
the DLC is a little bit different and honestly a bit too spooky sometimes but it's even more mind bending than the original game. btw I would recommend seeing the ending of the main game a second time after finishing the DLC. have fun bro
>>
>>741261913
Yes.
Do a few dry runs first. Figure out how it takes to remove the core, then use that as your starting point.
Watch out for the cactus outside the Ash Twin teleporter.

I did practice runs to the vessel until I dominated the route

Crazily enough on my real try there I got heard by the anglerfish and somehow ejected just in time and floated all the way to the vessel. Felt like a movie climax

kek
>>
>>741266403
>ejected just in time and floated all the way to the vessel
I never even considered that this was an option
>>
>>741263287
I talked my friend into trying this out and wouldn't you fucking guess that the very first thing he did was fall down a geyser and drown. Pretty kek worthy desu.
>>
>>741265416
They should have honestly. All you would lose is your data for achivements and do the tutorial. Like maybe delete it as a fakeout until you finish the game or something if you wanna meet the cheevo freaks halfway
>>
>>741261913
>he didn't die before ever seeing the statue
Didn't have the true explorer's spirit. I went straight down the geyser and saw some shit down there before getting cooked into a game over without ever even making it up to the observatory.
>>
>>741266492
I didn't know eject was even a thing. I just left the ship and found a trajectory to commit to to float past silently
>>
>1AM after beating the game
>listening to the OST in bed
>have work tomorrow but would rather think about the game than go to sleep
>>
>>741266521
I jumped into the ghostlight. If it was even half as dangerous as claimed, it wouldn’t be sealed off by a half broken fence
>>
You can get alt endings that way like taking the core and flying real far away so you can watch the system explode and all the explorer tunes slowly disappearing as you sit there in silence before the credits roll
>>
I really hope they do a switch 2 upgrade
beat the game on pc but got the colletors edition on switch to support the devs and collect the game
>>
Can you remember the feeling when you heard it for the first time?

>>
Has anyone done a prisoner+eye speedrun in a single loop?
It's technically possible to get to the prisoner without killing yourself by falling off the boat then jumping through some rocks to get past the alarm. But I can't find one.
100% is just the runner pretending to be retarded and visiting random places where you would find hints on what to do. There's also shipless and even suitless runs but no single loop full run.
>>
>>741261913
they changed it so you don't lose your save data when you die for real, even though it is just knowledge recordings you lose.
>>
>>741270891
though come to think of it having to go through the motions of getting the launch codes even though you (the player) knows what to do would be decidedly un-ludokino.
>>
>>741265416
I had such a freaky experience when I went through the final loop. My ship was pulled off of Ash Twin by the tornado when I'd planned to use it and I had to fly down to Ember Twin unaided to recover it while carrying the core. I was freaking out the whole time and managed to pull it off with just enough time left to set the core.
>>
it's lame it doesn't delete your save
pussy devs
but also the fish cheat and will attack you without sound
>>
>>741261913
Just don't try to copy the black holes unless you want a fun suprise, anon! Good luck!
>>
>>741271024
And the eye code, unless you memorized it.
Annnnd you also lose out on the ending variations that depend on your actions.

So yes, full save deletion would simply suck.
>>
>>741271335
how does the game memorize the eye code for you again? I never used the computer
>>
>>741271446
>I never used the computer
guess how
>>
>>741271446
It'll display it next to the place you need to input it if you discovered the code.
>>
>>741261913
Yes.
You will lose your savedata and have to start over.
Better get it right the first time.
It'll also get marked in your game menu how many times you fucked up to remind you.
>>
>>741265167
>the publisher pushed back on that so they didn't do it
That's so lame. Especially in a game like this where the only thing gating you is your knowledge.
>>
You unironically die IRL if you die without the core, make sure you are 100% READY before you do it
>>
I stopped playing this game and came back to it about 5 years later and realized I was essentially at the very end of the game
>>
Still haven't beat the dlc for this. Is worth going back to it like 5 years later
>>
>>741275357
when it got dark and I got lost i just watched the rest on youtube. I don't feel like i missed out on anything unfortunately. I thought the DLC was worth it for the wow factor of the first couple hours alone though
>>
>>741275357
I like the DLC more than the base game. The story telling being purely visual instead of text exposition dumps made it way more engaging. Also the stranger is by far the coolest thing in the entire game. Definitely worth playing. The DLC is also basically entirely self contained and can be done at literally any point so whether you're just starting or have already beaten the game it's the same when it comes to when the best time to do the DLC is. Literally no reason not to.
>>
>>741275357
>>741275743
Personally I found the DLC to be way less good than the main game, I played it right after finishing the main game and it kind of ruined my mood about the game. Lots of frustrating design choices because they didn't have the same 10 years of iterating on it that they did for the base game. You'll probably enjoy it more given that you've taken a long break. It's not bad or anything, just not close to the masterpiece that is the base game.
>>
>>741276334
Not true cause I played both of them back to back. The DLC is just better. Not even sure what you're talking about with your mention of frustrating design choices.
>>
>>741266041
The only issue with the game is that you can only play it once, it has literally no replay value at all. But that one playthrough is absolutely fucking mindblowing.

You guys probably bypassed the anglerfish the traditional way with engines turned off but my dumbass thought the ship will make noises either way so I assumed the only solution is to exit the ship and get to the vessel only with the jetpack. So yeah, I was hugging the wall, going slowly as fuck hoping not awake those fuckers with absolutely nothing standing between me and them. It was quite an experience.
>>
>>741275743
>The DLC is also basically entirely self contained and can be done at literally any point
Gameplay wise, sure, but story wise it's a very important complementary piece to the main story.
The catharsis you get from completing the DLC is reliant on the base story. You definitely want to do the main story first and have that inform what's happening in the DLC.
>>
>>741277274
I had to find a controller for the anglerfish part because it was physically impossible with kb+m, where the thrusters are either 0% or 100%, which sucked.
>>
>>741277486
Yeah, I more meant in the sense of it's ease of access in case that anon didn't have his old save he could start a new game and get straight into it. I would obviously not recommend someone who has never touched the game go straight to the DLC and actually wouldn't recommend doing it at all until they've beaten the game once.
>>
>>741261913
Nigger what the fuck you're scared of, the game's hook is that you're literally immortal and need to figure out why, there's no fail states
>>
I bought Blue Prince cause I saw someone compare it to Outer Wilds and I am personally offended by this comparison. I think Outer Wilds is one of the best games ever made but Blue Prince is one of the most boring pieces of shit games I've ever played. Why was this game even a roguelike? That shit adds nothing to the game and only makes it worse.
>>
>>741265167
>>741265416
>>741266510
I think it would've been neat if instead of deleting your file it just moved it to the trash can, that way you could still put it back if you wanted to pussy out of the consequences. Don't know how that would've worked on console though.
>>
>>741269875
Yes, but by using the brute forced code
>>
Favorite moment in the game?
Gotta be when this bad boy drops the first time:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS-TwLP5v8k

>>741277669
I also got lured into BP after and ended up disappointed too.
I wouldn't say it's boring, just frustrating. Combining roguelike/grinding elements with esoteric puzzles is just not a good idea.
>>
>>741277836
>I wouldn't say it's boring, just frustrating. Combining roguelike/grinding elements with esoteric puzzles is just not a good idea.
It's boring in the sense that you'll have to waste entire 10-20 minute long runs cause you got bad rng where you accomplished literally nothing but put some rooms down and learned nothing and changed nothing. The rougelike shit just feels like a lazy and artificial way of padding the game's run time out. I played Outer Wilds and managed to progress more and learn more things in 5 minutes than I did playing Blue Prince for like 5 hours.
>>
>>741277612
Yeah until you turn off the immortality machine
>>
Outer Wilds got me to finally get Myst off my backlog after like 30 years but it was just okay. Tried Riven too, but I got bored and never finished it.
>>
>>741277669
Blue Prince was total slop. If you want a game like OW play Tunic, if you want a game 10x better than OW, play Void Stranger but you'll probably get filtered by having to actually take notes.
>>
>>741278682
Already played both Void Stranger's difficulty is overstated.
>>
>>741278682
Tunic's god awful combat is too much of a filter for me, which is sad since I heard the game beyond that is good.
It's such an incredible admission of failure on the game's part that it allows you to toggle god mode in the options instead of fixing the game to be fun.
>>
>>741279141
I didn't have any trouble with it, it's just fucking boring and slow paced. You're not missing that much.
>>
>>741278728
It's easy to make a puzzle game very hard, just add in gay meta puzzles where you have to decipher audio tracks to get secret messages. Where VS excels is in the difficulty gradient, which is shown very clearly by EX.
>>
I recall the devs saying their next game is still quite a few years away.
