Nah, it's their own internal engine I forgot the name of they've been using for about fifteen years, but the version used for ETS2/ATS has VR support out of the box IIRC.

the big filter is learning the clutch engagement point. spend some time doing nothing but

repeat last 2 steps A LOT until you are very familiar with where it starts to move. eventually when you're ready give it a little gas at the same time as you're letting it out slowly. 1st gear needs the clutch to go out slower and needs more gas, you can be less careful when shifting up to other gears. for rev match downshifting watch some more videos, basically it's clutch in, shift down and blip throttle very quickly and then let clutch out. you'll have to get a feel for the right amount of revs. if the revs go up and it lurches, you didn't rev high enough. if the revs hang and then fall, you gave it too much gas

You're like on the road for most of the day if not weeks at a time, it's not just a 1-2 hour drive but rather 12-20+ hour drives with mandatory 1-2 hour breaks every 4-5 hours

You're traveling alone and you have to meet deadlines, failure to meet them means you don't get paid even if you're with a shipping/logistics company

Not a lot of decent truck stops out there on the road so no showers and you will be shitting in the woods/designated shitting side streets

You're also fighting weather (especially ice), road closures due to accidents, repairs etc. and being alone for longer periods than usual

Then your truck can go JUST if maintenance falls short (which will also be on you) and you're totally fucked

I had a coworker have one of those guys slam into her car as she pulled up to look for oncoming traffic before she pulled out. He got all mad acting like he was hurt and saying she was at fault for blocking the crosswalk but the cop immediately told him he was since in our city (and most I believe) don't allow scooters on the sidewalk for that exact reason and also cause they simply go way too fast like he was.
