Playing Castlevania Bloodlines right now (Expert mode as John Morris), game's pretty hard, could barely beat Stage 5.
>>741316996Yeah I always had a tough time with bloodlines and the nes trilogy. Started adventure rebirth for the first time last week and I was not expecting it to be as good as it is. Soundtrack is killer too.
>>741316996Belmonts Curse demo when?
The only Classic Castlevania I beat without save states was IVThat one still gets tough towards the end
>>741316996yeah its hardidk why they decided to add limited continues on top of that when every other classicvania gives you unlimited continues
>>741316996They were fucking crazy to make this game as insanely hard as it was, but nobody said killing that goddamn Dracula and his tight pusy little hussy niece would be easy
>>741318560>>741318740I have beaten CV1, 2, Legends and Chronicles (both the original and arranged modes) in regards to classicvanias, Bloodlines is certainly harder, at least on expert mode, right now I'm on the final level with 2 lives and no continues, that boss gauntlet at the end is hell.>>741318924It has passwords but lives and continues don't reset, that can be a good and a bad thing.
>>741319034so did you kick Dracula's ass or nah
>>741318740wutCV1 is difficult but it's certainly not that hard to beat without save states. It's not like the game has a lives system that sends you back to the start of the game if you die too much, you just get sent back to the start of the stage and every stage is only about 5 minutes long. I doubt 3 is much tougher but i've yet to touch it.
>>741320058i havent reached him yet, trying to not get damaged in the inverted stage is tricky (i need as much health as possible for the boss rush).
Adventure is the hardest classic Castlevania game even though it's only 30 minutes long
>>741318924It's a short game so I guess they thought they could get away with it. I agree that it doesn't add anything to the game.Though IIRC the Japanese version restores all your lives when you use a password, and is already in English text. And of course you can always reload your password regardless.
What is the greatest piece of voicework from the DSvanias?
>>741316996I used the password to give me 9 continues and beat the game normally with that.
>>741318740Save States make you worse at games. You never improve by using them. And they have an even worse problem that is much more sinister. They mess with your perception of video games. They make you think that games are harder than they really are. They allow you to get to later levels of the game that you wouldn't be able to reach normally. So you're playing sections of the game that you don't have the skill for, and this makes the game feel 10 times harder than it really is.
>>741316996Just play it for half an hour to an hour each day. Your skill will improve a little more each day and it won't take you long to beat.Don't use save states, they spoil the game. Don't ruin games with save states, castlevania bloodlines is a cool game - savor it, enjoy it, play it properly!

>>741316996Rondo of Blood > Super Castlevania IV > Castlevania BloodlinesAll three games are good though
>>741330682
>>741330779IV > Rondo > Bloodlines would be my ranking. I have weirdly strong memories of playing DXC and watching The X-Files back in 2008.
>>741330835thanks!
>>741330857I probably should play Dracula X but it always seemed like an inferior game to the other three to me.
>>741330989It is. Very much so.
why the FUCK does SOTN still not have a pc port
>>741331102Blame sony
I still can't believe they slipped Quincy into that Vampire Survivors DLC
>>741331224I don't know why Konami won't just get the studio who did the GBA and DS collections to make a new port
>>741322049excellent scanline filter.
>>741331523Its possible Sony has exclusive rights. If they still haven't ported it by year's end then it must be the case.
>>741316996Keep at it and you'll be based
>>741326541It’s just a harder pattern isn’t it? They’re not random but it’s ridiculous
>>741331601>Its possible Sony has exclusive rightsSOTN is already in the Switch-unique Castlevania Collection, Konami is just asleep at the wheel on porting it to PC
Super Castlevania 4 is better, sega fag.
>>741331867>SOTN is already in the Switch-unique Castlevania Collection,No it isn't. Its still exclusive to Requiem on PS4.
>>741331919its not exclusive to the ps4 you can play it on xbox and mobile
>>741322384If you practice with save states then do a full run without save states, did you still beat the game?
>>7413205393 is tougher, especially USA version. Nippon got EZ mode.
>>741331868Nah
>JP Bloodlines expert mode is actually normal mode in USNo wonder shits way harder.
>>741332203Isn't that what troonrunners do?
how hard is it to beat the original castlevania? i don't want to play something frustrating rn
>>741331601I thought I heard the only reason that Requiem was Sony-exclusive was because that version emulates using an in-house PSP emulator. If that is the case, they simply need to make a new port.
>>741331601It released on the Saturn and had an XBox 360 Arcade release
>>741332602Makes sense, since its basically the PSP game without the 3D version of Rondo.
>>741332414it's a little tough but very doable. you'll die a good bit but if you keep trying you'll probably beat it in a few hours.
>>741332414Depends on your tolerance for old NES games but you can beat the original CV in under an around an hour or 2 tops if you know what you're doing
>>741332635he's talking about Requiem. it's been stuck on the PS4 ever since that came out. this >>741332602 is the reason I've always heard Requiem didn't release on any other platforms.
>>741316996It's no Aria of Sorrow
>>741332414it's hard but it has infinite continues so when you get stuck on a part, you can keep trying from not terribly far back so you'll get the hang of parts in a reasonable amount of time.
>>741332735Oh, MB. I too would like to try that one.

>>741316996femboy thighs. i like this game a lot for some reason. i just enjoyed it a lot when i played all of the classic style castlevanias.i hated the pc engine rondo of blood even though everyone loves it. there was something about it that struck me as NOT castlevania so i didnt enjoy it. then i played symphony of the night and that was the start of something else. its NOT castlevania. turns out the guy who made it also made rondo of blood. i could smell his stench before i got to the carcass.no sir i firmly hate ALL IGAvanias
>>741318648If I catch a whiff of Netflixvania influence, I'm out.
>>741326541Your options are either play cautiously to increase your chances of getting lucky, come in with good health so you can tank a few hits, or spam the Stopwatch. Which option is best depends on which stage you're talking about.t. C3 autist
>>741330989I'd recommend trying Dracula X. I had the same reservations you did but I ended up really liking it. Just understand that it's way harder than the other 16-bit entries, and it's not hard the way Bloodlines is hard. It's got a lot of verticality and a lot of tricky level design.
>>741316996Great game. I had to restart a couple times so that I had enough lives and continues for the last couple stages. Its so satisfying clearing the earlier stages when you memorize enemy and boss patterns.Bloodlines is a cakewalk compared to Rondo of Blood tho. Rondo without savestates is fucking evil man.
>>741316996Bloodlines is overall maybe a bit too easy, but Expert Mode doesn't play around. The final boss rush in particular is pretty nuts. What people don't seem to get about Bloodlines, is that, even with the password system, the player can basically soft lock yourself into a game over. If you're starting a new level on 0 lives, especially one you've never played before, it's pretty much over.Of course, the game rewards playing well too, because you can always go back and re-earn lives you lost by replaying levels better than you did before.
>>741335205Figured so, trying to beat stage 6 with 1 life seems incredibly hard to do (there's an extra life in the distorted room but it doesnt change the outcome that much).I'm restarting and trying to be more careful, right now on stage 3 (i hate this level solely because there's no wall meat and there's too many flying enemies around that do 3/4 points of damage).
>>741335602Yeah, I don't remember any in that level...There is a free life in the leaning tower room though, on the right side. I'm pretty sure it's there in Expert mode too.
>>741335738Yeah its on the part with the medusas.I think all the 1ups and meats are available, minus the meat you can get during Death's card roulette I believe.
Requiem works fine on ShadPS4 fyi, it's my preferred way to play SOTN now
>>741316996I still need to finish this one. I like pretty much all the CVs of that era, even Dracula X, but I never devoted considerable time to this one.

>>741318648>>741342448I do not like the soft color palette is has. Reminds me of Netflix
>>741333408Agree. Death is the only part of the game where I can't imagine beating him legitimately.>>741331868Yeah it's so fun to kill 60% of enemies through walls and ceilings where they cannot harm you because of le 8-directional whipping.>>741330779I can agree with RoB being better than Bloodlines but IV should be down there. Very overrated game only loved by nostalgic SNESfags unlike me who played them all on an emulator.
>>741342793>Yeah it's so fun to kill 60% of enemies through walls and ceilings where they cannot harm you because of le 8-directional whipping. This but unironically
>>741322384Cool didn't ask
I'm really worried that the developers of new Castlevania are the same people who developed Dead Cells. This game is complete shit, and if they make a new Castlevania that's just as shit, it will be a failure of epic proportions.
>>741343406Don't be. The devs for the new CV are not the creators of Dead Cells itself, they're devs that picked it up afterwards and are responsible for the DLCs (which are good). If you don't like Dead Cells you're likely talking about the foundation itself which again wasn't built by them. I played the new-ish Prince of Persia game and while that is a roguelike too, it was really fun. The only worry would've been that the new game is a roguelike too but thankfully it's confirmed not to be so I have a lot of faith in them
>>741343715I generally don't like the difficulty of the new metroidvanias, they're made for hardcore players with no life and very fast reactions, I'm worse at playing than a games journalist and I'm tired of one-hit deaths
So Konami said that Belmont's Curse is only the first title celebrating Castlevania's 40th anniversary and that there are more CV projects to come and there's that leaked AAA "reimagining" that was leaked alongside the Metal Gear and Silent Hill revivals. Personally, I think we'll get something related to Symphony of the Night next year since it's SoTN's 30th anniversary.
I'd like CV64 & Lod to be re-released, either in a pack (maybe add PS2vanias too for a Castlevania 3D Collection) or added to NSO.
>>741344137>I think we'll get something related to Symphony of the Night next year since it's SoTN's 30th anniversary.PC port?
>>741344137I just want them to get M2 to remake CV2
>>741344365I want a remaster, no, not a remake, just a remaster with some small QOL changes and the Saturn content, maybe throw in some new shit like special equipment but that's it.
>>741331561That's not how games look on an actual CRT, it should be bright and colorful and 240p looks sharp as fuck. If you emulate go with the crt-easymode one because it doesn't fuck with the image while still giving the effect, those complex filters that try to replicate bleeding and halation are gay as fuck
>>741344394A new M2 remake seems inevitable, I want one of Legends.
>>741344529Seconded.
>>741345501Based.
>>741345501Cute girl
>>741344394I think they'll save Dracula's Curse for something big, so I doubt it will get the M2 treatment. Simon's Quest would be kino, though.
>>741348295Probably the AAA "reimagining".
>>741344137>AAA "reimagining"Probably a remake.

>>741322903>english dub
>>741351750It would also make a great entry point to the franchise. A reimagining of Dracula's Curse can still be canon given how much of the lore was retconned by Symphony of the Night.
>>741353672A Symphony of the Night remake as well, not that it needs one.
>>741352581Yes.
