Why are normalfags so obsessed with RE now?
>>
>now
>>
>now
>>
RE2 was the fastest-selling game of all time when it came out, anon
>>
>>741321024
It's horror. Bitches love Horror.
>>
>>741321024
Huge shilling campaign and they sell the games for 5 bucks.
>>
>>741321024
Impressive, not a single good one
>>
its similar to when everyone bandwagoned MGS when it got ported to pc finally, and when dark souls got ported to pc. they are plebs bandwagoning late af and pretending they ever were interested in the games prior to it being easily accessibly to them

>>741321024
One reason. Bad bitch Ashley.
>>
Unironically because it has hot people in it
I've seen so many female gamers who only played them for Leon
>>
>>741321024
mommydom
>>
>>741321024
Games these days are so poor RE is a masterpiece in comparison.
>>
>>741321024
Resident Evil is proof that Bobby Kotick was right again. Annualized games are how you make a popular game franchise. With a new RE game every year for the past decade, the formula just works.

>>741321024
it's a game for younger audiences, we wouldn't get it
>>
>>741328513
It's more survivorship bias. No unsuccessful franchise is going to be pumping out yearly releases
>>
>>741321024
Normalfags just latch onto whatever is popular because they can't think for themselves. They heard people talking about Resident Evil back in the old days and picked it up. You see this happen often with legacy franchises.
>>
>>741328693
A lot of japanese franchises were successful when they manage to pump them out every year or two but once they slowed down like Final Fantasy, they just stopped being popular.
>>
>>741328648
>¡Un forastero!
>>
>>741328648
not funny
>>
>>741328830
Or did they stop releasing them yearly because sales slowed down..?
>>
>>741321479
RE has always been easily accessible. RE4 released on every console ever made.
>>
>>741321024
>basically annual releases because of different teams working of them
>easy to pick and play even if you never touched the series
>AAA games with decent general quality, above market average
>hot characters appealing to the widest audience, even girls
>30 years legacy and tons of lore, enough to build a mythical franchise with huge fanbases across 4 generations (GenX, Millennials, GenZ and now GenAlpha, and there's probably even a few boomers)

At this point, it has reached cultural status in mainstream, you don't sell 200 million copies without leaving a mark.
Capcom is also one of the few publishers who managed to rebuild the series multiple times, and they do it with their own engine and with reasonable budgets, the opposite of AAA western devs

While it's not up there with Mario, GTA, COD, Minecraft, Pokemon or FIFA, it's climbing up fast among the biggest franchises of all time
>>
>>741321479
The original RE games have been on steam for like 10+ years now wtf are you talking about
>>
>Remakes are a good way of introducing new fans to old games
>Annualized game releases so people will always look forward to the new game
>port and release the games to every single platform possible
>hold regular sales for older titles because you might not earn as much but you create new fans who would buy your games day 1

It's just that simple. Just remake more games, port more games and release new games every year. Every dev should do it and copy Call of Duty and Resident evil.
>>
>>741330407
>>741330101
I wouldn't say they release annual games
>RE4R and 8 have a two year gap
But the hype keeps RE in the conversation by announcing new releases and remakes so it feels like it's every year. Too many series go awol after a release and don't even talk about the next title for over a year.
>>
>>741321024
Sucks how watered down RE3 remake was though. All the soul has been stripped.
>>
>>741330594
with Code Veronica coming in 2027, they've released 8 new games in 10 years since RE7 in 2017. That's pretty annualized to me.
>>
>>741321276
Somehow I get the feeling that you haven't played through each of those games while thinking none of them are any good.
>>
>>741321024
not a single good game there
>>
Nobody's mentioning that Capcom games are on sale all the time, and extremely cheap too
>>
>>741331556
I mentioned it though >>741330407
>>
RE has been one of the most popular game series since its inception, zoomie.
The RE devs alsl have the only semi-decent engine in the industry at the moment and have released 5 good games in a row. Which hasn't been done by a studio in almost 20 years.

The fact that Requiem looks as good as it does and I max it out at 200+ FPS while I struggle to even get 60 in the Gothic Remake just on High with constant crashes is reason enough alone to talk about these games.
>>
>>741321024
Last good AAA series.
>>
>>741321024
Because they were told to. Normalfags like what they are told to, it's that simple.
>>
>>741321024
>now
>>
>>741321024
theyre easily accessible, intense, and cinematic.
>>
>>741321024
Because they've finally seen the truth - RE is awesome, regardless of original or remake. REmake 2 is the first game in years that gave me legit nightmares, the previous one was Evil Within, and that was pure kino.

It’s this, plus they’re piss easy as far as games go
>>
4 > 2 > 8 > 3 > 7 haven't played 9.
>>
>>741328932
underrated
>>
>>741321479
am i a retard for considering metal gear niche still?
>>
>>741321024
So they can stream it and pretend to be scared
>>
>now
>>
>>741330407
The constant sales is a good point and factor in creating new fans for sure. It makes them seem less greedy and when a new game comes around, fuck it I just played and beat the last 3 games for like $30.
>>
>>741336531
Yeah kind of
Even in school I knew one of those kids who only played the newest call of duty release and nothing else, and his favorite game was MGS4
