A lot of anons here swear you need to learn japanese for games but is that REALLY still true? how many untranslated good games are even left? and how many of those cant just be made playable in minutes with a perfectly servicable AI translation?Sure there are bigger releases with fucked localizations like fire emblem and xenoblade but even those get fan patches to fix everything now. Older stuff is still getting fan TL'd/undubbed all the time too.I guess everyone into anime style shit should know some basic N5 level japanese just to have some appreciation for the VAs, provided they arent dubtards, but still
Even the ones in English are untranslated. You owe it to yourself to play your favorite JRPGs without localizers vandalizing it.

I genuinely cannot even join discussion about certain games on /v/ because the English versions are so different from the originals. It is not unusual at all for characters have entirely different personalities and motivations, and to see my fellow anons argue over the implications of stuff that isn't even in the original script.
