You have to think of the company's long term portfolio here, Microsoft is not just a games company, they are a leading force in AI and software development, homeoffice, and are the distributors of the number one operating system in the world. In order for Xbox to sustain itself under the pressure of Microsoft, they need to their go full third party, or spin off into a completely separate company while giving up on hardware entirely. The 360 approach won't cut it in 2026, they need to appeal to the broader audience of multiplatform gamers, people with PS5s, Switches, Steam Decks and laptops.
