This insecurity leads her to think she needs to change to not be judged, the extreme being she needs to become a man. Is it blunt? Of course, but that's the point. It's a teen thinking she needs change now to be taken seriously. I'm not gonna say this remake is going to ruin P4 forever. Thankfully those games exist and are easily available, but if you're going to remake something, only to neuter it, then it's a missed opportunity.
