Hello everyone I "beat" Dogyuun today. Decent game, but goes on for too long. The 2P mechanic is cool and makes it way more manageable. Not a bad dadshmup, but Batsugun is definitely the best Toaplan game out of the ones that I've played.

The only upcoming game I am looking forward to is the EoSD remake. I am a huge fan of the 2hu's but got a chance recently to play some classic schmups at The Galloping Ghost in Chicago recently. I really enjoyed GunBird and plan to git gud at those too. Never really liked the CAVE stuff that much. That is my blogpost, now can someone give me a QRD of the schizo?

Stages are all just strict routing, but it's the kind of routing where you just trace enemies and stream, and for the bosses it's the sort of thing where you just practice the patterns and intuitively get better at parsing them. There's some positioning foibles for the bosses as well that make them much easier, but you should be referencing replays anyways and you'll likely figure that out. It's hard to give general advice, I need more specific information.

I used to practice patterns for a while that I could've just bombed in a real run. There are patterns in some games that are blatantly stupid. That all sounds obvious but it helps speed up the process especially in Ketsui with its scoring and overall difficulty. Getting the Stage 3 extend is always worth practicing in a CAVE game. ShadPS4 on a previous version can do the M2 ports but it's a bit of a pain to set up. I did, though. Pretty great way to play.

Not only is the timing in mame different in arcade mode, but it's even further removed from the timing in Xbox mode, so I don't find it super helpful.

The spinning discs in stage 6 are still the hardest part of the first loop for me. It's kinda funny I used to think you needed to use the UI and shit for stage 5 boss side winder but you can actually just sit dead center and tap 3 times when the second row of bullets comes and it's pretty easy and consistent. For me it's SDOJ. But at the same time I try to understand why everyone loves DOJ and the only explanation I have is uninformed losers listening to a few shills and everyone just going with the flow without thinking about it for once. However, I'm no hater. DOJ is an amazing game in the CAVE lineup. I just have the tism and I like the style of SDOJ. Plus the tech in SDOJ makes me rock hard. So for me it's the better game. Not to mention only a few people can 1cc SDOJ. I'm really close. I can clear Stages 1 - 3 before my run goes to shit. TO be honest I only ever experience that in some older games where the bullets are tiny and they shoot fast as hell plus like the background is a brown color and the bullets are close to that colors. Many the war theme games. I love DOJ for it's aesthetics, the musics, the characters. But I honestly wouldn't put it as the number shmup of all time like so many people are doing. I come from playing mostly fighting games and action games like DMC. So something like Grazing mechanics, Bullet Cancelling, or the side attack mechanic in XIIZEAL, or a ship having a Sword Mode fires off my neurons lol. And the more Shmup I play the more It's hard for me to even have a number 1 best shmup because there are so many cool ones out there. For me a lot of it is aesthetics and then mechanics. Right now I would say DOJ is like in my top 15 but not top 5. If I had to name anything I really love the Danmaku Unlimited series for everything it offers. The explosive high octane theme of the game. The Grazing feels so good. The music by Blankfield. Its presentation speaks to me.
